C11 Show Your Weakness!
"By the way, Chu Yao, where has your sister been? It seems like I haven't seen her in quite a while," Lin Feng suddenly asked with a puzzled look. Chu Yao wasn't sure how to respond. Truthfully, she hadn't seen her sister in a long time either and had no idea where she might be.
"Why do you ask all of a sudden? Brother-in-law, you should be focusing on taking good care of yourself and getting better. That's what's important right now. My sister is very capable, so there's no need to worry about her. She can handle herself out there and ensure her own safety. Rest assured, she'll handle everything just fine," Chu Yao quickly reassured him.
Chu Yao didn't want her brother-in-law to be overly concerned about her sister; it seemed somewhat inappropriate. Yet, this conversation sparked a bit of worry in Lin Feng. He realized he didn't even know who his wife was.
Lin Feng remained silent for a long time, lost in thought, unsure of what to say next. Seeing his brother-in-law speechless made him feel even more conflicted, and he struggled to find the right words.
"Is something bothering you, Brother-in-law? You seem upset. Did I say something wrong earlier? Please, tell me what's on your mind. I hope you can give me a clear answer," Chu Yao said, eager to understand and resolve any issues.
She hoped that after hearing her out, her brother-in-law would provide a clear response and not be upset with her over the situation.
Meanwhile, Lin Feng was deep in contemplation, considering how to proceed without giving anything away. He knew he needed a thorough understanding of the situation to ensure everything went smoothly. That was his primary concern; the rest seemed trivial in comparison.
"Brother-in-law, what's going on? Why are you so quiet? Is something wrong? Please, if you're feeling unwell, tell me right away. I can call some doctors to come and help you," Chu Yao asked with concern.
Hearing Chu Yao's concern for him, Lin Feng couldn't just ignore it. He was at a loss for words in that moment.
"There's nothing to worry about, Chu Yao. Please, go back to your room and rest. I'm fine, really. It's just that I've been feeling particularly weak these past few days, which led to this situation. I'm extremely sorry for that. I owe you an apology."
"I deeply regret any inconvenience I've caused you today. Rest assured, this won't happen again in the future, even though I'm apologizing now," Lin Feng quickly clarified.
He hoped that Chu Yao would stop worrying about him incessantly. He felt incredibly embarrassed every time she expressed her concern.
"Brother-in-law, you must tell me if there's anything you need. I've already told you that I will always be your strongest support, so I hope you'll let me know if something happens," Chu Yao said, her voice filled with emotion.
Chu Yao had repeatedly tried to show her concern for her brother-in-law, but it seemed to have little effect, which was deeply frustrating for her.
Lin Feng felt a twinge of fear upon hearing Chu Yao's words. He didn't know what she was trying to convey, leaving him utterly confused and unable to grasp the meaning behind her words.
Yet, Lin Feng remained silent. He was still in the dark about the family's affairs and couldn't take any further action until he had a complete understanding of the Chu family's situation to ensure everything went smoothly.
"Enough, Chu Yao. I appreciate your kindness, but there's no need for further action on my part. Our focus should be on addressing the issues with the Chu family. We need to make it clear to everyone that we are the ones who can resolve this matter. So please, go back and rest.
I'm certain that by tomorrow, if not sooner, many will come seeking to resolve this issue with us. I hope you understand why I'm saying this. Do you get what I mean?" Lin Feng said, offering a gentle smile.
Chu Yao simply smiled in response to Lin Feng's advice. She clearly understood his reasons, which she had already taken into consideration.
"Alright, I'll head out first. Brother-in-law, remember to let me know if anything goes wrong or if you're feeling unwell. I'll definitely be there to help you sort it out. Even if the whole world doubts you, I believe in your strength more than anyone else."
With those words, Chu Yao bounced back to her room, her excitement palpable. She felt as though she was on the verge of a rebirth.
Watching Chu Yao's retreating figure as she hopped away, Lin Feng allowed himself a small smile. He truly believed that Chu Yao had handled the situation exceptionally well and could sense the vibrant energy of youth emanating from her.
A little later, Lin Feng returned to his room. Gazing into its emptiness, he found himself at a loss for words.
