C12 Understand!
The room felt starkly empty, a stark contrast to Lin Feng's previous living space. Confronted with the barrenness, Lin Feng was at a loss for what to do next.
"Where am I living now? What should I do moving forward? These are huge questions, and I must figure them out on my own," Lin Feng mused aloud.
Lin Feng was well aware that, given the circumstances, he had no choice but to figure things out as he went along. There simply was no alternative.
As Lin Feng was about to settle down for some rest, a sudden knock at the door startled him. He hurried to open it, only to be met with the sight of a complete stranger, which sent a chill down his spine. He had no idea who this person could be.
"Who are you looking for?" Lin Feng inquired, his voice laced with concern. He genuinely didn't know whom this person might be seeking; his question was born out of true unfamiliarity.
"Lin Feng, I've heard about your recent achievements. Since you've accomplished something, spare me the pointless chatter. I don't even know how to respond to you. Don't you realize how absurd you're being?" said Chu Tianyi, chuckling.
Chu Tianyi and Lin Feng were considered the best of friends within the Chu family, each with a deep respect for the other's abilities. Thus, Chu Tianyi was puzzled by Lin Feng's apparent lack of recognition—it seemed highly improbable.
Realizing that the other man spoke with such familiarity, Lin Feng understood that he must indeed know him quite well; otherwise, such a conversation would be impossible.
"Don't kid around. Are we close?" Lin Feng asked, his tone tinged with skepticism.
He wasn't even sure of himself as he spoke, so he kept his tone light and teasing. After all, he still had no clue who this person was, and it wasn't like him to speak so freely without reason.
"Lin Feng, oh Lin Feng, I just heard of your little victory and rushed over to congratulate you. But to think, you've become someone who doesn't even recognize me? I'm Chu Tianyi. I refuse to believe you don't remember me."
Chu Tianyi couldn't help but smile as he spoke. At that moment, Lin Feng also felt a wave of awkwardness wash over him. Yet, he sensed that the bond between himself and Chu Tianyi was still incredibly strong. He had given this some thought; otherwise, they wouldn't be in such a situation.
"I've only achieved a small victory; there's no need for you to come all this way to congratulate me. If we start celebrating every little thing, what will others think? They might believe we're just putting on a show," Lin Feng said with a chuckle. Seeing Lin Feng back to his usual self, Chu Tianyi refrained from further comment. Just knowing that Lin Feng was back to normal was enough for him.
"You really had me fooled for a moment there; I almost believed you didn't recognize me. Now it seems you knew all along, you just didn't want to admit it. Just make sure you don't forget me now," Chu Tianyi said, his smile easy and teasing.
Lin Feng responded with a slight smile, recognizing the familiar banter between them. He knew that Chu Tianyi wouldn't speak so candidly unless they shared a close relationship. Lin Feng had his reasons for not engaging further and hoped for a swift resolution to their current predicament.
"If you don't have anything else, you might as well head back now. I can't spare any more time to hang out. If it's not too much trouble, go get some rest. We'll probably cross paths again soon. What do you think?" Lin Feng proposed, looking at Chu Tianyi.
He needed to carefully consider his next steps to ensure he handled the upcoming challenges correctly. It wasn't possible for him to keep up the pretense with Chu Tianyu any longer.
Chu Tianyi felt a mix of emotions upon realizing Lin Feng was essentially showing him the door. He had never anticipated such a turn of events, something he hadn't even allowed himself to consider before. The awkwardness he felt was palpable.
"Unless I'm mistaken, you're not trying to send me away, are you?" Chu Tianyi asked, his tone a mix of jest and disbelief. He had expected Lin Feng to deny it, but to his surprise, Lin Feng simply nodded in confirmation. This left Chu Tianyi utterly baffled, unable to comprehend why Lin Feng would be so bold as to speak his mind so openly.
"Don't tell me you've gone completely mad just because you won a bit earlier? I can hardly believe you'd have the nerve to send me packing, let alone issue me a direct order to leave. Do you have a death wish?" Chu Tianyi said jokingly, as that was the only thought on his mind at the moment.
At this point, Lin Feng was in no position to put up a fight. He desperately needed time to rest and recuperate, so naturally, he couldn't afford to waste any of it on Chu Tianyi. He hoped that Chu Tianyi would back off a bit and refrain from causing trouble in his presence. Otherwise, it was anyone's guess what might happen in the end.
Meanwhile, Lin Feng was contemplating how to convince Chu Tianyi of his sincerity, feeling that their relationship shouldn't have deteriorated to its current state.
