C16 None of My Business!
Seeing Chu Wenn's eagerness for revenge, Lin Feng couldn't help but find it amusing.
Yet, Lin Feng remained silent. He was confident that Chu Wenn would realize that his actions the previous day were not mere playacting, but a true demonstration of his regained strength, which he simply chose not to flaunt.
Chu Wenn's irritation grew at Lin Feng's silence, reinforcing his belief that no one had the right to speak to him in such a manner. "What's your deal? Why do I get the feeling you have a problem with me? You embarrassed me in front of everyone yesterday. Didn't you consider that we were once close friends in our childhood? Don't you think your behavior was a bit over the line?" Chu Wenn reproached Lin Feng, looking at him accusingly.
He had always assumed that no matter his actions, Lin Feng would still regard him as a best friend. While this may have been true in the past, Lin Feng was not about to let it slide this time. He wasn't naive; he knew who treated him well and who didn't.
A scoff escaped Lin Feng unexpectedly. Despite constantly reminding himself not to stoop to Chu Wenn's level, hearing such words still stirred up anger within him, and he struggled to keep his emotions in check.
Chu Wenn, hearing the derision in Lin Feng's tone, understood all too well the reason for his laughter. It became clear to him that Lin Feng truly had little respect for him.
"What's the meaning of this? Why the laughter? Haven't I already explained myself? Your laughter right now means nothing, and it only serves to infuriate me further. Remember what I told you before. Do you really think you can defeat me again today just because you did yesterday?" Chu Wenn said, his fists tightening.
Observing Chu Wenn's readiness to confront him, Lin Feng remained quiet. He welcomed Chu Wenn's disdain and felt even more confident after their encounter the day before. He was sure he could handle Chu Wenn swiftly, leaving him no chance to respond.
"What are you trying to achieve, Chu Wenn? I heard about your disrespectful words towards Lin Feng yesterday. If you hadn't provoked him, why would he have any issue with you? Your actions now just seem rather futile to me. Don't you realize it's like you're trying to sell favors after having already benefited?"
"I really can't fathom what you're thinking," Chu Tianyi said as he approached.
He was, of course, aligned with Lin Feng. Chu Tianyi was well aware that Lin Feng was the only one he considered a true brother. As for the rest, there was no point in continuing any conversation with them. That was the issue he most wanted to clarify at the moment.
Chu Wenn's patience wore thin when he realized Chu Tianyi was interfering in his affairs. In Chu Wenn's view, there was absolutely no need for Chu Tianyi to engage in such extensive discussions with him. He even believed that within the Chu family, aside from Lin Feng's known weakness, Chu Tianyi would likely be the next least formidable.
Chu Wenn had never taken Chu Tianyi seriously. Confronted with Chu Wenn's relentless stare, Chu Tianyi couldn't help but feel a mix of embarrassment and concern. Yet, he had to maintain his composure, especially in front of his brother. Showing weakness would be quite unseemly.
"What exactly is your problem? I don't understand what you're trying to accomplish. Do you think you're so formidable that you can treat me this way? You must believe I wouldn't dare retaliate, right?" Chu Tianyi said with a cold laugh, feeling there was nothing more to say about the situation.
"Chu Tianyi, enough with your wild accusations. Don't you know yourself at all? You're probably the weakest after Lin Feng. And yet you still spout nonsense in front of me. You're not even clear on what you're trying to prove. Stop sticking your nose into other people's business," Chu Wenn retorted, intent on driving a wedge between the brothers. He felt cornered and had no other strategy but to make things difficult for Lin Feng.
Lin Feng, witnessing Chu Wenn's irritating demeanor, could no longer contain his frustration. He had previously managed to keep his emotions in check, but he could no longer tolerate Chu Wenn's disparagement of his good brother. He was convinced that he could no longer remain passive.
"Kid, I dare you to repeat that," Lin Feng said as he seized Chu Wenn by the collar. He was aware that Chu Wenn was actually quite cowardly. Despite his sharp tongue, his actions betrayed his ineptitude and cowardice.
"What's wrong with saying it like it is? I've pointed out that you've never truly regarded him as your brother. Moreover, he's the weakest member of our entire Chu family, apart from you. Is it wrong to state the obvious? This is a widely accepted fact, not just my personal opinion.
"If you believe there's something incorrect about my statement, you're entitled to think that my approach is wrong. However, this is a collective viewpoint shared by everyone. Arguing with me about it is pointless." Chu Wenn responded with contempt.
He had always believed that by shifting all the blame onto the public, he would remain unaffected. After all, he considered this show of strength from the masses to be completely unrelated to him.
