Chu Wei refused to believe that Lin Feng was beyond recovery.
"Is there truly no other alchemist who can help Lin Feng recover, aside from Chu Hao?" Chu Wei asked the elders standing beside him with a desperate look, hoping they would be able to devise a strategy for him after hearing his plea.
The room fell into a heavy silence; not a single person dared to voice an opinion.
Seeing the elders remain speechless, only offering sighs of resignation, Chu Wei understood all too well that it seemed no one but Chu Hao could heal his beloved son-in-law.
"I refuse to accept that. There must be a way. My son will surely recover," Chu Wei declared with unwavering conviction. He then strode out of the council hall with increasing speed, his footsteps quickening as he sought to vent the frustration boiling within him.
As Chu Wei's figure receded into the distance, those left behind cast contemptuous glances his way. In their minds, Lin Feng had become utterly useless, and they believed that any effort Chu Wei expended on Lin Feng would be futile.
"What is Chu Wei thinking? He knows full well that all the effort in the world won't help Lin Feng recover, yet he persists with such determination, completely ignoring our advice. I just don't understand his reasoning," Elder Wang said to the surrounding elders, his voice laced with bewilderment.
"Ha, isn't it obvious? It's because Lin Feng is his son-in-law. If Lin Feng were just some ordinary person's son, he would have already told us to give up any hope of action. He's clearly a selfish man—do we even need to state the obvious?"
"Exactly, you're spot on. That must be his line of thinking. Otherwise, he wouldn't have casually entrusted the Foundation Establishment Elixir to Lin Feng," the other elders murmured among themselves.
Though the elders spoke in hushed tones, their words did not escape Chu Wei's ears. He could hear their discussion, but he chose not to take their words to heart. He knew these were the very people he found distasteful.
Chu Wei continued to move swiftly forward. Suddenly, he was taken aback to see Lin Feng standing ahead of him. This was a shock, considering that when he had left for the council hall, Lin Feng had been bedridden, incapable of any movement. He simply couldn't fathom how Lin Feng had managed to appear before him.
"Lin Feng, how did you manage to come here? I thought you were unable to get up," Chu Wei asked, his voice tinged with disbelief. As he gazed at Chu Wei, whose eyes were wide with astonishment, Lin Feng allowed himself a small smile. Who said he couldn't rise? He had fully restored his meridians, and there was now a mysterious power within him.
"Dad, he's completely healed. Just now, my brother-in-law gave Chu Hao and his gang a good thrashing. You can rest easy; all the spiritual energy in his body has been restored, and his meridians are intact. My brother-in-law is going to be as formidable as ever," Chu Yao cheerfully informed Chu Wei.
For Chu Yao, her brother-in-law was the most admirable person she knew, the role model she had looked up to since childhood. Her respect for Lin Feng had been firmly rooted in her heart, and having just seen him deal with a band of outlaws only solidified her belief that Lin Feng was the epitome of a role model.
"What? You've really recovered? Earlier, it seemed impossible, and yet you've bounced back so quickly? You're truly remarkable," Chu Wei said, his voice filled with awe as he gently touched Lin Feng's forehead.
Feeling the warmth from his father-in-law's hand, Lin Feng's smile grew even brighter. He recognized the rarity of such a turn of events and cherished it.
"Yes, Dad, I've made a full recovery. Before I left, I hadn't even realized the extent of the power within me. But I promise you, from now on, I'll keep a tight rein on myself and prevent any misfortune from befalling me again. And those who once looked down on us? I'll make sure they regret their actions. You have my word," Lin Feng declared with confidence.
After finishing his vow, Lin Feng's smile was tinged with a sense of vindication. He was convinced that those who had once been invisible to him would soon come to regret their actions. By then, he would have complete control over himself and no further issues would arise.
"It's wonderful, truly wonderful. It seems those who underestimate us have no clue about the strength we possess. Soon, we'll strike back hard and make them realize we're not to be underestimated," Chu Wei said, his voice filled with satisfaction. With that, he fell silent, content in the knowledge of their impending triumph.
Chu Wei was deeply moved, feeling that this was the most joyous event of his life.
"Rest assured, father-in-law. Those who don't understand me will soon recognize our strength. I'll make them see that I am the only one who can be the strongest. They will all become my captives. We won't have to fear them during summer vacations anymore," Lin Feng declared with confidence.
Having faced a life-and-death challenge, Lin Feng's confidence soared. He realized that nothing could hinder him in the face of such adversity, and he was destined to become the ultimate king.
Those who had once underestimated him would surely revise their opinions. This was Lin Feng's intention from the moment he could stand tall again.
Witnessing Lin Feng's self-assured demeanor, Chu Wei nodded in approval, his eyes brimming with tears. He had never imagined that Lin Feng, once given up on by everyone, could awaken at such a pivotal time and make a full recovery.
