C5 Really Reborn!
Watching the elderly man standing before him, Lin Feng's heart ached slightly, and he couldn't help but feel a deep sense of sympathy. Yet, having been reborn and taken over another's body, he knew he must embrace the responsibilities that came with it.
"Actually, how about I take you to the Art Hall now? Let's show them your true strength. Your abilities are incredibly powerful, and once we're there, you'll certainly strike them with awe. It'll also prove to the Chu family that we have a worthy successor. What do you say?" Chu Wei suggested, approaching Lin Feng with a warm, affectionate smile.
Faced with the resilient old man before him, Lin Feng found himself agreeing, unable to refuse.
"What should I do once I'm there? Should I demonstrate my full strength, or should I hold back a bit?" Lin Feng pondered over this dilemma.
He decided to conceal his power for the moment, curious to see the reactions when they realized he had regained his former prowess.
"Father-in-law, I'll agree to go with you, but you have to promise me something. Once we're there, don't mention my recovery. They might not believe you even if you tell them. I want to show them my true strength and let it speak for itself. Is that okay?" Lin Feng asked, looking earnestly at Chu Wei.
Chu Wei's heart swelled with joy upon hearing Lin Feng's request. He understood Lin Feng's motives, especially knowing that the elders in the Conference Hall were skeptical of him.
After a moment of reflection, Chu Wei nodded thoughtfully. Aware of Lin Feng's intentions, he wouldn't dream of interfering. He noticed, however, that Lin Feng seemed quite different from before. Previously, Lin Feng had always been reluctant to showcase himself, but this time, he had readily agreed without even being asked.
"I promise to keep silent once we're there. I'm quite eager to see how they will react. It's bound to be a very good thing."
After finishing his statement, Chu Wei made his way to the Conference Hall, with Lin Feng trailing closely behind. Lin Feng surmised that the original owner of his body must have been quite familiar with the Conference Hall, but for him, it was a first-time experience. Therefore, he kept pace with Chu Wei, careful not to let any slip-ups betray him.
"Brother-in-law, we're approaching the Conference Hall. I can't accompany you inside, but I'll be out here rooting for you. You have to impress them and prove that their past judgments were mistaken," Chu Yao said, pulling a face at Lin Feng. He looked at the adorable little girl before him and nodded in agreement, almost instinctively.
"Don't worry, little sister, I've got this," Lin Feng assured her before hurrying to catch up with Chu Wei as they entered the Conference Hall. Upon their arrival, the assembly of elders was visibly taken aback. They were astonished to see Lin Feng walking so effortlessly behind Chu Wei, showing none of the pallor typical of a sick person.
"What in the world is happening here? How could he have recovered? Chu Wei never mentioned his son-in-law was awake. What's the explanation for this?" Elder Huang asked, his tone laced with incredulity.
The other elders, upon hearing this, shook their heads in bewilderment. They were at a loss but believed that Chu Wei would soon provide them with a satisfactory explanation.
"What's going on here? Brother Chu, it's not possible that your son-in-law has been switched with someone else, is it?" Elder Wang quipped.
Although Elder Wang's comment was in jest, and no one took it seriously, Lin Feng was momentarily startled, fearing his secret had been uncovered.
Noticing Lin Feng's sudden pallor, Chu Wei was alarmed. He couldn't bear the thought of his newly recovered son-in-law collapsing.
"Are you alright? If there's anything wrong, please tell me. You don't have to be here today; I can give you a few more days to recuperate," Chu Wei inquired with concern.
Lin Feng, however, shook his head after hearing this. He sensed that no one had really taken Elder Wang's words to heart.
"Indeed, my son-in-law has undergone a rebirth of sorts. I'm aware that many of you still harbor dissatisfaction towards him, but I want you to understand that my son-in-law is just that—my son-in-law. The blood of our Chu family runs through his veins, and the valor he exhibits is more than enough for him to thrive within the Chu family," Chu Wei declared emphatically.
His confidence had grown even more now than it had earlier. He had been convinced that Lin Feng would make a full recovery, but now he felt even more assured of his previous statements.
As the elders watched Chu Wei's completely elated demeanor, they whispered amongst themselves in the Conference Hall. Yet, they couldn't shake the feeling that there was something different about Lin Feng today.
"He's still nothing but a waste," Chu Sheng declared loudly. "This is merely a tactic by Chu Wei to prevent us from expelling him from the Chu family. Who knows what he took to suddenly maintain this facade for a little while?"
"Exactly," Chu Wenn chimed in. "I doubt he's really that remarkable, to recover so quickly and at such a pivotal moment. We had just brought him up, and now he's supposedly fully recuperated? This just doesn't seem credible to us."
