C9 Continue to Work Hard!
"What's the matter? Dad, haven't I already told you? From today on, I won't let you shed a tear, nor will I allow anyone else to make you cry. You need to stay strong for me. Remember, this is a privilege I'm giving you. No one will be able to touch you from now on. You understand everything I've said, right?" Lin Feng said to Chu Wei, hoping his words would convey the depth of his intent.
Chu Wei, after hearing Lin Feng's earnest words, didn't dare utter a single word. He understood that Lin Feng's declaration meant they were to rebuild their family's honor together.
Soon after, they both left the Conference Hall. As they stepped out, Chu Yao dashed toward them with incredible speed. She had been waiting outside for quite some time, repeatedly trying to enter.
Blocked by the guards at the entrance, she had no choice but to wait outside, filled with anxiety. Seeing Lin Feng emerge, she knew he must have been victorious.
"How did it go, brother-in-law? Are you okay? Did you manage to deal with that villainous first kiss?" Chu Yao asked Lin Feng with a determined look in her eyes.
She was eager for an affirmative response. Seeing the concern in Chu Yao's eyes, Lin Feng nodded confidently. He had no doubt that he had handled the situation well and that there would be no further issues.
"Don't worry, your brother-in-law took care of him easily and even broke both his legs. It's unlikely he'll recover within 100 days, so you'll have some peace and quiet for a while," Chu Wei said with a chuckle.
He was well aware of Chu Wenn's intentions towards his daughter, even though Chu Yao had never mentioned it. Chu Wei knew all too well how much his daughter despised Chu Wenn. Hearing his father's words, Chu Yao simply smiled. Having such a considerate father was truly a rare gift.
"Chu Yao, come over here. There's something I want to discuss with you," Lin Feng called out to her.
After hearing the summons, Chu Yao didn't hesitate and quickly made her way to Lin Feng's side. She thought her brother-in-law must have had something urgent to discuss, but instead, she saw Lin Feng smile gently as he took out some jewelry and placed it into her hands.
The sight of the bracelet adorned with gold beads sent a jolt of surprise through Chu Yao. She had never expected her brother-in-law to give her such a valuable gift.
"What do you mean by this? Brother-in-law, I've already said I don't need any jewelry, so there's no need for you to give me any. You'd be better off keeping these for yourself. I really don't need them," Chu Yao explained hastily, worried that she might inadvertently offend him by refusing his generosity.
"This is for you," Lin Feng insisted. "If I say you'll need it, then you will. I've already told you that I'm preparing this as your dowry. When you marry, I might not have anything to give, so while I can, I want to make sure you have these things. I'll never forget your kindness to me," he said, looking at the charming young girl before him.
He knew how kind she had been to him and could feel the strength of her character.
"Alright, let's leave it at that. There's no need to go on about it. Just take these things. Since I've said I want to give them to you, I will, and I wouldn't give them to anyone else. So, please, accept them, okay?" Lin Feng urged once more.
At that point, Chu Yao realized she had no option but to accept, and she did so without further protest.
Not much later, Chu Wei arrived and was taken aback when he saw the large box of gold and silver jewelry in Chu Yao's hands. He knew the contents were extremely valuable, without a shadow of a doubt.
"Little girl, hold it right there. Where did you get all this jewelry? Haven't I told you that these pieces aren't suitable for you? What are you planning to do? Return them right away, and don't let anyone come knocking on our door because of this," Chu Wei scolded, his eyes fixed on Chu Yao.
Chu Wei felt that Chu Yao shouldn't have taken others' belongings so carelessly. Moreover, he was well aware that their household didn't possess such an abundance of items.
"Dad, what's going on? All these things were gifts from my brother-in-law. He told me they were for my dowry, so he's giving them to me now. You don't really think he's been stealing, do you?" Chu Yao said teasingly, confident that her father would never entertain such a thought.
Chu Wei was utterly astonished to learn that Lin Feng had provided all these items. He struggled to accept this as reality, feeling an overwhelming sense of shock. He was also somewhat puzzled about how Lin Feng had come by all these possessions.
"Dad, you've given all these things to her. They're all from me, and I've assured her that from now on, they're hers to manage as she pleases. She doesn't need to report to any of us about them. So, why not just let her have them, okay?" Lin Feng implored Chu Wei with a hopeful look.
Yet, Chu Wei was at a loss. He couldn't fathom where Lin Feng had acquired such items and was determined to get to the bottom of it to avoid any unexpected complications.
"Where exactly did these things come from?" Chu Wei asked Lin Feng, his eyes filled with skepticism, eager for a satisfactory explanation.
