C14 Would She Get Drunk Eating Meat?
Flat-head Wind contracted its body and perched on Ma Tianming's hand. Naturally, it couldn't speak.
Yet, the inebriated Flat-head Wind seemed to grasp Ma Tianming's meaning and began shaking its head vigorously.
"This urgency clearly indicates that it has sensed danger."
Ma Tianming alerted Snake King Mah, "We're facing imminent danger."
Snake King Mah, renowned as the Snake King, had captured numerous snakes but had never witnessed any snake behave like the Flat-head Wind on Ma Tianming's hand, shaking its head with such intense and seemingly intentional movements, akin to a person nodding.
Ma Tianming's warning of impending danger only deepened Snake King Mah's bewilderment. Could it be that Young Master Ma was capable of conversing with snakes?
"How could that be!" Snake King Mah thought, only to immediately dismiss the idea — unless Ma Tianming was a demon or a deity.
Ma Tianming was now on high alert, scanning the environment with keen attention, particularly in the direction the Flat-head Wind faced.
"Is that person looking this way? Has he truly noticed me, or is it merely because of the snake?"
The shadow, though enigmatic, harbored a sense of scorn: this was its domain. To the Flat-head Wind, the shadow must seem as frightening as a demon, yet what was there to fear? After all, it was no demon.
The shadow edged closer to Ma Tianming and Snake King Mah, not too eager to strike, for the closer they got, the more the situation favored it.
Ma Tianming could distinctly sense Flat-head Wind's alarm. Snake King Mah had described the Flat-head Wind as the sovereign of its kind, nearly unbeatable in the forest, so it was rare for anything to instill such fear in it.
Unless it was a larger Flat-head Wind... A Flat-head Wind would prey on another Flat-head Wind!
"Are you certain it's a larger Flat-head Wind?"
"I can't be sure, but it's highly likely." Snake King Mah also peered in that direction. "There could be snake cats, weasels... but those creatures are exceptionally cautious. They would have fled at the first sight of us."
"So, the chances are greater that it's a larger Flat-head Wind."
As Snake King Mah mentioned the cannibalistic nature of the Flat-head Wind, an idea suddenly struck Ma Tianming.
"I guess I'll have to impose on you then."
"What are you mumbling about?" Snake King Mah watched as Ma Tianming once again seized the Flat-head Wind from the ground. He was conversing with a snake.
Ma Tianming removed the wine bag from his back, grasped the Flat-head Wind's head with one hand, and squatted down, allowing most of the snake's body to rest on his legs. Then, he began pouring wine into the Flat-head Wind's mouth.
"Young Master Ma, what exactly are you doing?" Snake King Mah asked, puzzled, but then it dawned on him: Ma Tianming was attempting to intoxicate the snake.
If the other Flat-head Wind consumed the one filled with wine, it would inevitably become drunk as well.
Could this strategy work?
It seemed feasible, but was it truly effective?
Snake King Mah was riddled with doubts, yet Ma Tianming had already funneled half a bag of wine into the snake's belly. Whether the Flat-head Wind was drunk or simply disliked alcohol, it writhed in place.
"It's such a shame to sacrifice a Flat-head Wind that I've finally managed to tame! However, if the adversary isn't the Big Flat-head Wind, it probably won't eat it. But if it is, trading it for an even larger Flat-head Wind could turn out to be a decent deal."
From the shadows of the forest, an observer watched the human toss the Flat-head Wind toward them, sparking curiosity: What was his angle?
Was he throwing it over because the Flat-head Wind dared not approach, forcing it into action?
Or was this a challenge directed at me?
The shadow chuckled internally: Aren't humans supposed to be highly intelligent? To think such a tactic would succeed. If it's too scared to attack directly, would it become brave just because it's been thrown?
Too timid to attack, yet challenging me?
"Since the other party has made a move, I must respond," the shadow thought, eyeing the Flat-head Wind that had landed before him.
The Flat-head Wind, still disoriented from the fall and now inebriated, struggled to gain control of its body.
In a flash, the shadow lunged, biting the Flat-head Wind's neck with precision. The snake emitted a noise, but it was no longer the defiant hiss of a challenge; it was the feeble struggle of defeat.
The shadow swiftly dispatched the Flat-head Wind, a fine meal indeed.
Yet, with the enemy present, the shadow refrained from feasting immediately. As it was about to release its bite, the shadow detected an unusual scent emanating from the Flat-head Wind.
Having consumed many Flat-head Winds before, the shadow found this particular aroma unprecedented. What could it be?
Initially, the scent was overpowering, but it quickly revealed itself as a lingering, rich fragrance.
Irresistibly, the shadow gave it a lick. Intense and concentrated, the flavor was truly captivating.
Compelled by its allure, the shadow licked again, releasing a robust and aromatic taste from the Flat-head Wind's mouth.
The flavor was intoxicating!
In a swift motion, the shadow ripped off the Flat-head Wind's head and pressed out the rich, fragrant liquid from within the snake's belly, eagerly gulping it down.
Having cast aside the Flat-head Wind, Ma Tianming and Snake King Mah were ready to strike at a moment's notice... when they heard a soft fluttering ahead. The sound was subdued.
The Flat-head Wind was utterly inebriated, offering no resistance.
Snake King Mah had mentioned that the Flat-head Wind was a domineering species, seldom allowing other snakes or beasts in its vicinity.
Thus, Ma Tianming had no concerns about danger and was poised to charge forward.
But as he observed the spot where the Flat-head Wind had fallen, a dark golden hue caught his eye. Thorns may have obscured it, yet the dark gold stood out starkly in this setting.
Ma Tianming was certain of his sight: the dark gold was from the Flat-head Wind he had just discarded. The snake was thrashing weakly, utterly defenseless, its head firmly pinned or bitten.
"Is that a snake cat?" Snake King Mah had also noticed the dark gold and gasped, "And a dark golden one at that! Such snake cats are a rare sight."
Snake King Mah's instinct was to dash forward and seize the snake cat, but he froze instantly. The snake cat's agility was unmatched, especially in a thicket of thorns, making capture an impossible task.
Snake King Mah had primarily come for the Flat-head Wind, so he hadn't brought any tools to capture the snake cat.
He experienced a pang of regret akin to losing a treasure: it was such a rare opportunity to come across a snake cat, let alone a golden one.
Ma Tianming, however, instinctively blocked Snake King Mah from rushing to grab the snake cat by placing his hand in front of his neck, remaining silent.
Young Master Ma seemed in no rush whatsoever!
Hold on a moment!
Watching the snake cat voraciously devouring the Flat-head Wind, Snake King Mah was struck by a sudden recollection of Ma Tianming previously dousing the Flat-head Wind with alcohol. No way! Could it be possible for a snake cat to become intoxicated from eating meat?
