C6 Slaughter
Yun Ruo inwardly shook her head. Xiao Feng's actions were certainly bold, but what would the repercussions be? Provoking Hai Li and alienating the entire sea race could spell disaster for his sect.
A moment of satisfaction, yet potentially endangering the entire sect, was foolish.
But surely Xiao Feng understood the consequences?
Xiao Feng's philosophy was simple: respect me and I'll respect you; annoy me and I'll end you.
Shan Hongxuan had been observing Xiao Feng from the start. From his demeanor to the aura he radiated, Shan Hongxuan didn't see him as a hothead who failed to grasp the bigger picture.
His boldness in provoking Hai Li suggested he had a powerful ace up his sleeve.
But what could that be against the sea race? Shan Hongxuan was puzzled. The saint clans? No, they wouldn't leave him to stand alone.
Xiao Feng looked at Hai Li with a smirk. "Young Master Hai, you're not upset, are you?"
Hai Li's gaze was laced with barely concealed malice. "Heh, Xiao Feng, right? It's one thing to acquire good things, but another to be alive to use them!"
Simultaneously, Xianyu spoke up, "Young Master Hai."
Hai Li turned to her, only to be met with her blunt retort, "Beat it!"
Everyone was taken aback. The demure Xianyu had just shown a surprisingly tough side.
"What are you waiting for? Do you want a duel?!"
Hai Li glared at Xianyu, his Spiritual Force roiling, ready to strike at any moment.
Xiao Feng watched him, his intent to kill crystalizing. Hai Li, a mere Level Nine, was no match for him. With the Overlord Spear, Xiao Feng was confident of a one-strike kill.
Should Hai Li dare to harm Xianyu, Xiao Feng wouldn't hesitate to take him down.
"Do you think this kid can take out Hai Li now?" a mysterious voice whispered in his ear.
The armored figure replied with scorn, "Kill him? You underestimate me! One spear is all I need. If it takes a second, I'm worthless!"
Xiao Feng was ready to make his move, but Hai Li hesitated, weighed down by his own reservations. After all, Xianyu was a disciple of Lau Ruyan. Despite the Sea Race's formidable power, killing an elder's disciple from the Mountain Sea Sect would still bring about considerable trouble.
As tensions escalated between the two parties, Yun Ruo, Xianyu's close friend, quickly intervened to defuse the situation. "Alright, alright, let's not fight. We're all here in search of opportunities, and harmony is the true path to prosperity," she urged.
With a dismissive "Hmph!" and thanks to Yun Ruo's diplomatic efforts, Hai Li decided to spare them, turning away with a flick of his sleeve.
The group pressed on and soon noticed an increase in the density of the surrounding Spiritual Force. "There's definitely something amiss here! I suspect there's a Spiritual Vein right beneath us!" Shan Hongxuan declared, crouching down with one hand pressed to the earth, his eyes closed as if in deep concentration.
He then proceeded to move forward, hunched over as if guided by some mystical force, occasionally touching the ground as though searching for something elusive. "The Shan Hongxuan Clan's secret method has a unique way of detecting Spiritual Veins. He can find many that are beyond our perception," Yun Ruo explained.
True to the reputation of the Shan Clan! With such a technique at his disposal, he was like a human divining rod, never in want of Spirit Stones.
After a short distance, Shan Hongxuan came to an abrupt halt. As everyone looked on in curiosity, he made his move, and a large swath of earth was peeled back to reveal an astonishing sight—top-grade Spirit Stones!
In that moment, everyone's gaze intensified with fervor. These were the highest quality Spirit Stones, and there were thousands of them! Such a find would undoubtedly cause a frenzy if known to the outside world.
Shan Hongxuan claimed the precious Spirit Stones for himself and generously shared them with Yun Ruo and Hai Li. However, he decided not to extend the same courtesy to Xiao Feng and Xianyu.
"I have a feeling that the Spiritual Force ahead is even more concentrated. We may well be approaching another Spiritual Vein!" Shan Hongxuan announced, anticipation in his voice.
Their expressions grew stern. The discovery of the Spiritual Vein had already caused such a stir within the clan. If they were to find another...
They pressed on, trekking for a considerable time until they reached a vast open plain. It was here that Shan Hongxuan took action once more. He crouched down and repeated his previous motions, sending mud flying. Yet, what they unearthed this time was vastly different from before.
Beneath the layer of soil, they didn't find a Spirit Stone but a clear, glistening stone. Encased within it was a golden, dragon-like figure that seemed to dance and coil.
This was a Dragon Crystal!
Above the Spirit Stone was the Spirit Crystal, a crystal formed from pure Spiritual Force, as the name suggests. The Spirit Crystal found within a Dragon Vein was known as a Dragon Crystal.
"This isn't a Spiritual Vein! This is a Dragon Vein!"
"No, this Spirit Crystal isn't pure. It seems it hasn't fully transformed into a Dragon Vein yet."
Whereas a Spiritual Vein produces Spirit Stones, a Dragon Vein, Dao Vein, and Holy Vein produce Spirit Crystals, known respectively as Dragon Crystal, Dao Crystal, and Holy Crystal.
Shan Hongxuan's voice carried a note of urgency. The emergence of a Dragon Vein, if made known, would surely unleash chaos and bloodshed!
Hai Li's gaze shifted sharply to Xiao Feng and Yun Ruo, his eyes brimming with unmasked murderous intent.
Previously, he had refrained from killing them due to the complications it would cause, but now the stakes had changed. The news of the Dragon Vein could not be allowed to leak. It was a matter of the family's interests, and there was no turning back.
Hai Li spoke with a menacing tone, "The emergence of the Dragon Vein cannot be revealed! Therefore, you two must die!"
Shan Hongxuan remained silent, yet the appearance of a knife in his hand spoke volumes of his agreement with Hai Li.
Yun Ruo quickly interjected, "There's no need for such drastic measures. We can have them swear an oath on their souls to keep this secret. There's no need to resort to killing them!"
Hai Li's smile was cold and cruel. "That method is never as reliable as making them corpses. Corpses can't talk! I know you have some history with them, so just stand aside and watch."
After speaking, Hai Li conjured a sword in his hand and charged forward with lightning speed!
Xiao Feng advanced, positioning Xianyu protectively behind him, his spear held ready across his body.
As Hai Li was about to strike, Xiao Feng sprang into action.
He drew the spear slightly back, creating an overwhelming pressure that seemed to come from nowhere. Hai Li felt his sword movements slow down.
Before Hai Li could react, the pressure abruptly lifted, and the Overlord Spear unleashed a fearsome deterrent force!
Hai Li felt a target on his back, goosebumps spreading across his skin, and realized there was no escape!
What kind of bizarre technique was this?
This was Hai Li's final thought before the Overlord Spear impaled him, suspending him in midair.
The Overlord Spear possessed a horrific power that shattered his soul!
Hai Li was dead, his path ended.
Upon witnessing this, Shan Hongxuan immediately tried to flee, but Xiao Feng wasn't about to let him get away.
He hurled the spear, pinning him to the ground, skewering both men like a candied hawthorn stick.
Xiao Feng approached calmly and retrieved his spear, then turned to gaze at Yun Ruo.
His look was that of a predator eyeing its prey, devoid of any emotion.
With each step Xiao Feng took, Yun Ruo's complexion grew increasingly pale.
Xianyu remained silent. Though she and Yun Ruo were close friends, she knew this decision was Xiao Feng's to make.
Xiao Feng felt a twinge of hesitation, uncertain whether to end the woman's life.
"If you spare her, she might disclose what happened. Then you'll be in danger," the voice of reason echoed in Xiao Feng's mind.
He pointed the spear tip at Yun Ruo, his grip tightening on the shaft.
Yun Ruo, her face ashen, looked up at Xiao Feng in utter despair.
After locking eyes with her, Xiao Feng ultimately lowered his spear and refrained from striking.
Xianyu breathed a deep sigh of relief internally.
