C23 Guo Yuan's Use

But who was Zhang Heng to back down just like that?

"You acknowledge me as your elder brother, right? If you do, then you have to trust in my abilities. Believe that I can pull it off," Zhang Heng asserted.

Unable to sway Zhang Heng, Guo Yuan revealed, "Someone approached me a few days ago, inviting me to join Group A, but I haven't given them an answer yet."

"You said you wouldn't join Group A, so why the hesitation?" teased Zhang Heng.

"I'm not going to join Group A, but I've turned them down so many times already. It might not look good if I refuse them again. So I said I'd think about it, but I'm definitely not going," Guo Yuan explained nonchalantly.

Hearing this, an idea sparked in Zhang Heng's mind.

He turned to speak with Guo Yuan.

But Guo Yuan, as if spotting something exciting, grabbed Zhang Heng and they hurried off, ending up at a French restaurant.

Zhang Heng was at a loss for words, having thought something serious had occurred, only to find out they were just heading to eat, and Guo Yuan was overly enthusiastic about it.

"This is my favorite restaurant," Guo Yuan eagerly told Zhang Heng. "Since it's the first day of school, I thought I'd bring you here to try it out. I hope you like it."

Zhang Heng pondered for a moment. He was sure he'd enjoy it.

He had never been fussy about food; as long as it was edible, he was content. Seeing Guo Yuan's eagerness, he replied, "It's fine, I'm sure I'll like it."

Guo Yuan, hearing the approval, seemed thrilled and quickly ushered him forward.

The waiter approached as they looked over the menu, which listed pricey items, but Guo Yuan appeared unconcerned, haphazardly ordering a variety of dishes.

Zhang Heng wondered, "Does he plan to eat all this?"

While Zhang Heng was still pondering, Guo Yuan spoke up, "I wasn't sure what you'd like, so I ordered a bit of everything. Don't hold back, just enjoy the meal."

Upon hearing that, Zhang Heng was immediately at a loss for words.

He had assumed the guy would have a hearty appetite, but it turned out all the food was ordered for himself.

While Zhang Heng was pondering this, Guo Yuan added, "Later, we'll hit the mall and pick up a couple of outfits, and that'll wrap up our day perfectly."

Then, as if something else occurred to him, he continued, "Oh, and we've got to move dorms. We're transferring to the A dormitory."

Zhang Heng questioned, "We're moving to the A dormitory?"

He wondered, "Isn't Guo Yuan loaded? He used to live in a villa, so why the sudden move to a college dorm?"

Guo Yuan, as if anticipating his thoughts, reassured him, "Don't worry. I won't shortchange myself. The dorm conditions are quite decent. Plus, I've lived in that villa for years. Even though my family invests in the college, it rubs some people the wrong way since I'm the only one with such privileges."

Hearing this, Zhang Heng silently mused, "It must be nice to have money."

The dishes arrived in quick succession.

Onlookers watching them eat their fill might have mistaken them for famished ghosts.

But truth be told, the spread was quite lavish, and they dug in with gusto, enjoying every bite.

By the time they finished, many dishes were barely touched, with most having only a bite or two taken from them.

Zhang Heng couldn't help but feel it was wasteful.

Guo Yuan, however, was indifferent to the idea of taking leftovers.

After casually swiping his card, he gestured to Zhang Heng at the entrance, signaling him to hurry out.

As Zhang Heng approached, he remembered his earlier question and asked, "Did that group invite you to join Group A?"

Guo Yuan replied nonchalantly, "You're still on that? Yes, they did. What of it? I have no intention of joining them."

Guo Yuan figured he had over a year left at this place; offending them wouldn't make much difference. He might as well go all the way.

Zhang Heng, who was beside him, suddenly said, "Go!"

Guo Yuan felt a bit surprised to hear this.

"To change everything, we need to thoroughly understand the situation. If they invite you, then you should go, acting as a mole. That way, we can get a look at what's really going on inside," Zhang Heng explained.

This response pleased Guo Yuan. He would never consider going to Group A on his own, but the idea of acting undercover made him willing to take the risk.

Moreover, this approach seemed better for him. While not going was an option, going would also show respect to them.

"Alright, I'll do this for you," Guo Yuan said, feigning reluctance.

"But let me warn you, changing everything won't be easy. It's best not to rush things," Guo Yuan cautioned.

Zhang Heng understood the long-standing traditions well. Sudden changes would indeed be challenging, especially since those in the real estate sector were no match for Group A. Change needed to be approached with patience.

"Don't worry, I'll be careful. I am your older brother, after all."

"First, I'll show you around Group A's living quarters and give you an overview of the school. Knowing the enemy as well as yourself is the key to victory," Guo Yuan said.

Guo Yuan then led Zhang Heng around like a human radar, introducing him to the academy's history and the cultivation level system.

They were currently at Level D, which corresponded to having no attribute. Above that was Level C, with each ascending level being more desirable. There were many cultivation levels, but their current one was not particularly high.

Cultivation talent directly impacts your cultivation level, so many people only care about that, believing it to be the essence of a person. If your cultivation talent is too low, your potential is limited.

But Zhang Heng was determined to change all of that!
