C32 Could It be a Humanoid Pet Beast??

As soon as Di Feng finished speaking, the others in the room couldn't help but show odd expressions on their faces.

Di Feng noticed their looks and assumed they were skeptical of his claims.

He hastened to clarify, "I'm telling the truth, I haven't deceived you!"

Moo Shuqin, ever the spirited one, concocted a sly plan upon hearing his words. Feigning curiosity, she inquired:

"Why are you so interested in that person?"

"Just curious," Di Feng replied.

But as Moo Shuqin squinted at him, Di Feng quickly elaborated:

"Besides, we might end up as classmates at Nightbay Academy. Getting to know him early could help me make a new friend."

His last remark clearly betrayed his actual intent, and Bai Tian along with the rest caught on at once.

Moo Shuqin smirked and teased, "Look at you, all eager. You haven't even passed the entrance exam, yet you're already planning to befriend your future classmates."

"I like to be prepared," Di Feng responded, unfazed by her comment.

With a confident smile, he boasted, "I'm not just talking big. I've familiarized myself with the strongest candidates here at the hotel."

To back up his claim, Di Feng scanned the room and gestured towards a young man nearby.

"See that guy over there? His name is Jin Haocan from Farbay. He's a renowned prodigy from a local high school and passed the higher-level Apprentice Assessment two months ago. He owns a Poison Vine Demon, a dual-type plant and poison pet, at the impressive level of third rank, second layer."

"And that striking girl, her name is Han Xuemei from Cavebell City, another well-known genius. She cleared the Apprentice Assessment with flying colors. Her pet is a Steel Striped Dragon, combining Steel and Dragon Elements, at the third rank, third layer."

"That's Lian Xia from Steelhallow City."

Di Feng rattled off the details of three individuals, demonstrating an impressive knowledge of their pets' types and levels. Xie Yang and the others exchanged glances, taken aback by his extensive intel.

Zou Xinrui, snapping out of her astonishment, couldn't help but exclaim, "I never imagined there'd be so many with third rank pets."

"It's not the case," Di Feng said, shaking his head. "From what I know, among this year's candidates, only five possess a third-rank pet, and the prodigy from Lakeshell City is one of them."

Bai Tian and the other two girls finally caught on. Clearly, a third-rank pet was a formidable companion, which explained why so few examinees had one. They couldn't help but glance at Xie Yang with excitement.

"Xie really is impressive; he's ranked in the top five out of five thousand candidates!"

Di Feng missed the girls' subtle reactions, his attention fixed on Xie Yang. "Now, can you tell me about that person?"

The girls couldn't contain their laughter any longer. Di Feng looked puzzled. "Did I say something funny?"

Moo Shuqin waved her hand, suppressing a giggle. "You wanted to meet that person, right?" She gestured towards Xie Yang. "The genius who aced the Super Difficulty Apprentice Assessment is him."

Shock registered on Di Feng's face as he stared at Xie Yang. It took a moment for him to recover, his expression turning sheepish. He had been bragging about his knowledge of gifted students from all over, yet he hadn't recognized Xie Yang, who was right in front of him. How embarrassing.

"I didn't realize it was you. My apologies, brother," Di Feng said, rubbing his hands awkwardly.

Xie Yang just smiled and waved it off, indicating it was no big deal. He wasn't a celebrity; it was perfectly understandable that Di Feng didn't recognize him.

Unfazed, Di Feng quickly moved past the awkwardness and engaged Xie Yang in a lively conversation. Xie Yang was open to the exchange, and through their chat, he gleaned valuable insights about the recruitment examination.

The meal was thoroughly enjoyable for everyone. Once they had cleared their plates, they prepared to head back to their rooms. As they traversed the corridor outside the dining area, they encountered an approaching group. A dozen boys in uniform, likely students from a school, were horsing around. Despite the corridor's breadth, it was crammed with the boisterous group.

Xie Yang and his companions had no choice but to halt and step aside, intending to depart once the group had passed.

As the distance closed, the boys quickly took notice of the three girls, their beauty sparking excitement among them—particularly in the case of Bai Tian. Their gazes were filled with wonder as they looked at her.

Bai Tian, however, remained indifferent. Accustomed to such attention, she typically dismissed it outright.

"Wow, what a beautiful girl," one remarked.

"Which school does she belong to?"

"I'm not sure. She's not in uniform."

The boys murmured among themselves, their conversation turning to something amusing as they erupted into laughter, drawing disapproving looks from many in the hallway. Yet, they were unfazed.

As they brushed past, one boy's arm reached deliberately toward Bai Tian's chest, his face smug with the anticipation of his ploy.

Trapped by the wall behind her, Bai Tian sought to sidestep him, but there was no escape.

Suddenly, an arm interposed itself before her, staunchly blocking the boy's advance.

"Brother!"

Relief washed over Bai Tian as she turned to Xie Yang with surprise and gratitude.

The boy's face twisted in anger as he spat out, "Get your filthy hands off me, don't touch me, or else..."

His threat was cut short by Xie Yang's fist crashing into his face, blood spraying from his nose.

The boy's companion, caught off guard, was sent tumbling to the ground.

Silence enveloped the area.

Everyone stood in shock, witnessing the turn of events they hadn't anticipated.

It was then that Xie Yang spoke, his voice steady and composed.

"And what exactly would you do?"

The beaten boy was in no state to reply, clutching his nose and writhing on the floor in agony, his blood painting a sorry picture as it seeped through his fingers.

"You had the nerve to hit him!" the buzz-cut youth leading the group challenged, his eyes burning with fury at Xie Yang.

Xie Yang met his gaze and replied coolly, "Just a lesson. If he dares to misbehave again, it'll be more than just a bloody nose."

The buzz-cut youth's anger turned to a mocking laugh, and he sneered, "Let's see what you can really do to us."

With that, he charged at Xie Yang, his cohorts following suit, ready for a fight.

Xie Yang gestured for Bai Tian and the rest to fall back, standing his ground resolutely as he confronted the group of boys.

The three girls had previously witnessed Xie Yang's combat prowess. Despite their lingering concerns, they complied and stepped back, not wanting to hinder him.

Di Feng's face, meanwhile, turned pale with worry.

Xie Yang might be a prodigy, but this wasn't a pet beast fight. How could he single-handedly take on over a dozen opponents?

He was eager to lend a hand but was all too aware of his own limitations in a brawl.

"What do we do now?"

Di Feng was so anxious that beads of sweat formed on his forehead.

But in the next moment, his eyes went wide with astonishment.

As Xie Yang charged into the fray, a succession of muffled impacts rang out.

The towering boys didn't stand a chance; they couldn't even graze Xie Yang's clothing. In an instant, they were all floored, writhing and howling in defeat.

Echoes of their agony reverberated down the hallway.

Staring at Xie Yang's retreating figure, Di Feng was struck with awe.

Could he possibly be a humanoid pet in disguise?

How was he so incredibly skilled at fighting?
