C4 That Good-for-nothing
Otto's face, previously swollen and in excruciating pain, was now oddly numb, the discomfort gone as if by magic.
Frozen in place, he stared at the stunning woman before him, his eyes glazed over, utterly spellbound.
And it wasn't just Otto. Tessa too was deeply shaken by the breathtaking beauty before her, feeling utterly unworthy in comparison.
Ironically, both had completely forgotten that this very woman had just totaled their Mercedes-Benz.
Meanwhile, the ravishing woman paid no heed to Otto and Tessa as she stepped out of the car. She made a beeline for Elmer, bowing respectfully, "Mr. Lowe."
Elmer's face, in stark contrast to the others', remained impassive. "Qingluo, what's the urgency? What brings you here in such haste?"
The woman's demeanor instantly turned grave. She whispered urgently, "Mr. Lowe, our Heavenly King Palace's intelligence has just uncovered a grave mistake. You've been mistaken about the woman who saved your life all those years ago!"
A shockwave seemed to pass through Elmer's stoic facade.
His voice spiked with incredulity, "What? Qingluo, repeat that!"
"Mr. Lowe, the girl you've been tirelessly searching for, the one who saved your life, isn't the vile woman you've been led to believe. She's someone else entirely." As she spoke, the beautiful woman quickly handed Elmer a file.
Elmer snatched the file, his hands trembling as he flipped it open.
"This? How... it's her?"
With just a glance, Elmer's eyes narrowed sharply, his face a mask of shock.
"This is absurd! Utterly preposterous!"
Overwhelmed, Elmer's body shook violently, his face etched with regret, his mind a whirlwind of chaos.
He swayed, nearly collapsing, but the beautiful woman, alarmed, rushed to his aid, her slender, pale hands enveloping him in a tight embrace.
Feeling the soft contours of her body against his, Elmer quickly snapped back to reality.
Without a word, he gently pushed away the enchanting figure and stepped back, "Qingluo, take me to the company, now."
The stunning woman's face was etched with bitterness and disappointment as she noticed Elmer keeping his distance. Still, she promptly responded, "Of course, Mr. Lowe. The car is ready for you."
"Halt!"
"You two, stop right there!"
As the beautiful woman and Elmer were about to enter the car, Tessa, seething with fury, charged at them like a wild dog, blocking their path. She screamed hysterically, "You two are in big trouble—one of you hit my husband, and the other wrecked my car. You owe me an explanation, or else..."
But before Tessa could finish her tirade, her vision blurred, and the beautiful woman appeared before her as if by teleportation.
"Smack! Smack! Smack!"
A flurry of slaps echoed through the air.
Tessa's face was so thoroughly slapped, it was unrecognizable. Only then did the beautiful woman cease her assault.
Gripping Tessa's chin with her pale hand, she looked down at her with utter contempt and said, "Only a myopic simpleton like you would think Mr. Lowe is nothing but a penniless nobody."
"Ha, do you have any idea who Mr. Lowe really is? Can you even fathom the extent of his wealth?"
"See this limited edition G63 worth millions? To Mr. Lowe, it's merely a trinket, while your man's junker isn't worth the dust on its wheels."
"Alas, your ignorance has indeed limited your perspective."
"Yet, I envy you. I envy how someone as plain and dim-witted as you managed to keep Mr. Lowe's company for a year."
"Do you have any clue how many wealthy, stunning, and high-status women yearn for such a once-in-a-lifetime chance?"
"It's a shame... You squandered the opportunity of a lifetime, an opportunity your luck could barely grasp."
"Never mind, I'm feeling charitable today, so I'll enlighten you. Listen well, Mr. Lowe's true identity is the supreme sovereign of Lunamis."
"That's enough! Qingluo, we're leaving!"
Before the beautiful woman could finish, Elmer cut her off with a note of impatience in his voice.
She quickly clamped her mouth shut and, like tossing out trash, flung Tessa to the ground before hurrying toward the car.
"Rumble!"
With the engine's thunderous roar, the steel behemoth bared its menacing face and took off, leaving nothing but dust in its wake.
Tessa and Otto stood there, exchanging bewildered looks amidst their disheveled expressions.
It took them a while to regain their composure from the immense visual shock they had just experienced.
"Honey, it's all fake, right? Surely that no-good Elmer paid some actress a fortune just to embarrass us, didn't he?" Tessa still couldn't wrap her head around the idea of Elmer being wealthy.
Otto, equally baffled at first, had a moment of clarity after hearing Tessa's theory. "Damn, Elmer's such a lowlife for resorting to this kind of cheap trick to flaunt his status."
"And that Mercedes-Benz G63 isn't just any car; it's worth millions and is a limited global edition. You can't just buy it with money; you need the right connections and influence. If Elmer was really that big-shot, why would he still be working as a security guard?"
"Exactly! I know that good-for-nothing all too well. He's always scrimping and saving, even on groceries. How could he afford such an expensive car? We can't let him get away with this, Honey. I think I heard that loser mention he was heading to the company." Tessa was seething with rage.
Otto's expression turned dark as he muttered with venom, "You're right. He's not getting away with this. We're going to the company today, and I'm going to make him pay."
