C7 Attacked in Anger
The door to Presley's office creaked open before Otto could even launch himself at it. A tall, erect figure emerged with deliberate slowness. Sharp brows and piercing eyes framed a face that could only belong to Elmer.
"You bypass the path to heaven and crash through the gates of hell instead. You little bastard, daring to come back? I'll end you today!" Otto's eyes blazed with fury at the sight of Elmer, and he charged forward with a furious roar.
Smack!
But as Otto closed in on Elmer, the crisp sound of a slap echoed. Otto's hefty body spun like a top, twirling several times before his legs buckled and he collapsed to the ground.
"Wow..."
Blood and a few yellowed teeth spilled from Otto's mouth as he hit the floor. The incident unfolded so rapidly that the onlookers were left stunned, unable to process what had just happened.
It wasn't until Otto's screams, reminiscent of a slaughtered pig, filled the room that the gravity of the situation sank in.
"Argh... August, Song Yao, Liu Qiangsheng, what the hell are you waiting for? Get him and finish him off!" Otto bellowed from the ground, his face twisted with malice.
Snapped out of their shock, the three men fixed their angry stares on Elmer.
"You scum, attacking Mr. Herbert? You're going to pay for this."
"Guys, let's take him down together!"
"Absolutely, he needs to learn his lesson this time."
With a ferocious roar, they charged at Elmer.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Three muffled groans followed in quick succession. In a flash, all three were sent flying back like punching bags, crashing to the ground with a heavy thud. A closer look revealed a distinct footprint on each of their chests – they had been kicked into the air!
"What the..."
"What's happening here? This guy's too strong, isn't he?"
"Wait, isn't this the same doormat who wouldn't fight back or talk back?"
"Did he take the wrong pill or something? How else could he suddenly become so aggressive and actually start hitting people?"
Disbelief and confusion washed over the faces of everyone present. Tessa was the first to regain her composure, shaking with rage from head to toe.
She pointed at Elmer and unleashed a torrent of abuse, "Elmer, have you lost your mind? How dare you hit someone?"
No... it all makes sense now! Have you cozied up to Presley for protection?
"Wow, Elmer, I'm impressed. That vixen who hit me earlier must be another one of your connections, huh?"
"And now you're cozying up to Presley again. Elmer, you're nothing but a revolting duck!"
Tessa's words snapped everyone back to reality, and they joined in the berating:
"Ugh, this guy is revolting and utterly shameless."
"Damn, it's clear why he's been so bold—it's because he's got a woman backing him."
"What kind of nonsense has this lousy security guard been feeding Director Collins?"
"I can't believe it. Director Collins is so dignified. How could she ever be interested in this loser?"
Contrary to expectations, Elmer wasn't the least bit angry.
Instead, he was smiling—a radiant, beaming smile.
To him, these clueless individuals were no different from a troupe of clowns.
Their bluster was laughably absurd. Why would he be angry?
"Smiling? This mutt still has the nerve to smile? I swear, Director Collins won't stand for him hitting someone in our company and still take his side when she gets back."
"Exactly. Director Collins won't disappoint the core members of our company for the sake of this nobody."
"Let the stinky security guard laugh now; he'll be crying soon enough."
"Even if Director Collins does come back and decides to shield this idiot, we won't stand for it..."
Just then, Otto, whom Elmer had sent sprawling to the ground, got back on his feet with Tessa's assistance.
He then burst into a crazed laughter at Elmer: "Hahaha... You little runt, don't think for a second that just because you've got Presley in your corner, you can lord it over me.
"Let me give it to you straight—Presley is so tied up in her own troubles that she's about to become Young Master Zhao's toy, if all goes as expected."
Elmer's expression turned stormy in an instant, his icy glare piercing like an arrow.
He advanced toward Otto, step by measured step.
"What did you say? Repeat what you just said!"
Elmer's voice was soft, yet it reverberated in everyone's ears like a clap of thunder.
Everyone present felt a sharp pain as if their eardrums had been ruptured.
"I... You... What are you planning to do, you bastard? I'm warning you, don't mess around..."
Otto was genuinely terrified. He had never encountered such a deathly and fearsome gaze before.
"Smack!"
Elmer delivered a resounding slap across Otto's face.
"Crash!"
Otto hit the floor again, blood streaming from his orifices, a ghastly sight to behold.
"Say it one more time!" Elmer's voice was chillingly stern.
In that instant, the air in the office turned icy.
These employees of a design firm, accustomed to the routine of home and office with limited social interactions, had never witnessed such a grisly scene, nor had they ever encountered someone as ferocious as Elmer.
Petrified, they stared at Elmer, hearts pounding with fear.
What had gotten into him today?
Why did he seem like a totally different person?
This was not the same man who wouldn't fight back or retort when insulted. He was like a raging psychopath!
Otto was beyond terrified, feeling as if his soul had been ripped from his body.
Gazing into Elmer's menacing eyes, he had no doubt that Elmer might kill him at any moment.
With this in mind, Otto couldn't hesitate any longer and blurted out,
"I'll tell you everything! Maurice of the Zhao Corporation deliberately concocted an investment scheme to swindle Director Collins, aiming to coerce her into becoming his woman."
"How involved were you in this?" Elmer's eyebrow arched inquisitively.
"I... I... It's a misunderstanding! The decision to collaborate with Maurice was entirely Director Collins's. As the deputy director, I simply don't have that kind of power," Otto pleaded, his eyes darting about as he hurriedly tried to clear his name.
Elmer scoffed, clearly unconvinced by Otto's defense, and was about to take further action.
"Director Collins, welcome back."
Just then, a greeting echoed from outside.
Relief washed over everyone in the office as they turned their gazes toward the entrance.
As expected, the sound of crisp high heels announced her arrival, and Presley's graceful silhouette came into view, bringing a sense of normalcy back to the chaotic scene.
