C5 Eight Million Betrothal Gifts

He had assumed that a few harsh shouts would send Emmanuel scurrying away, money in hand, tail tucked between his legs.

Turning to Daisy and Georgia, he spread his hands and declared, "Alright, Daisy, consider your worthless husband fired. You're free and single again. So, can I propose to you now?"

"As long as you agree to marry me, not just eight million—eighty million would be no issue."

Daisy was taken aback. No financial crisis would compel her to gamble with her future.

She knew all too well what Avery was like.

"Avery, I think you're mistaken. Yes, I need funds, but I'm offering 30% of Anlesque Pharmaceutical's shares in exchange..." Daisy stated firmly.

Georgia, sensing a brewing conflict between Daisy and Avery, quickly tried to smooth things over. "Mr. Davis, please, don't rush her. Daisy is young and doesn't see the bigger picture. Your willingness to overlook that is a blessing for her. Let's not hold grudges over trivial matters..."

"Here's the thing!"

Avery, cigar clamped in his mouth and one hand casually in his pocket, stepped up to Daisy. "Daisy, I didn't come here to negotiate. I came to formally notify you that you're already my wife, with the eight million as a betrothal gift for you..."

Before Daisy could respond, a voice cut through the tension. It wasn't loud, but it was piercingly clear. "Davis, enough with your vile and shameless act. Daisy is my wife, not a bargaining chip for your gains, nor is she capital for your opportunistic exploitation!"

Daisy, Avery, and Georgia were all stunned, their eyes turning to Emmanuel in unison.

Emmanuel rose slowly from his kneeling position, his spine straight as an arrow, unbowed despite years of enduring humiliation.

"Emmanuel, you'd better shut up. Who gave you the right to speak? Get back on your knees!" Georgia snapped viciously.

Emmanuel advanced toward Avery, positioning himself protectively in front of Daisy. "Listen, it's just eight million, right? Daisy is my wife, and I'll take care of it myself. Your arrogance has no place here."

With that, he slammed the stack of money against Avery's chest. "Do you think you can dismiss someone as a beggar just because they're poor? Take your dirty money and get out!"

Everyone was left utterly speechless.

Had Emmanuel lost his mind? It certainly seemed so!

For three years, he'd been nothing but meek within the Morse family. When did this son-in-law grow a backbone?

Hold on!

He was supposed to be deaf, right? How could he suddenly hear? It was baffling!

"Emmanuel, stay out of this. Go cool off somewhere else," Daisy said, perplexed by his behavior but knowing this was no time for his interference.

Emmanuel just flashed a cheeky grin and replied, "Honey, take a deep breath. There's no need to stoop to the level of this... mutt."

"Ha, mutt? Who are you calling a mutt, you cripple? Did you pop the wrong pills? Got a taste for humiliation, or just lost your senses?" Avery spat, gripping Emmanuel's collar fiercely.

A sinister smirk played at the corner of Emmanuel's mouth, sending a chill down Avery's spine. "The guilty party will bark first. Release your grip, and I might just overlook your foolishness."

What?

Avery thought he must be hearing things. A nobody, daring to say he could forgive him?

But something about Emmanuel's presence unnerved him, and his grip loosened as his finger nearly jabbed Emmanuel's nose. "Fine, fine..."
