C35 Hunting

Jiaang Lin had tamed a Fire Wolf on the Flame Beast Plain. These creatures were all Grade 1 demonic beasts, equivalent to a Level 1 martial cultivator.

Demonic beasts are categorized into nine grades and nine levels, aligning with the ranks of martial cultivators: martial warriors, martial masters, Grand Martial Masters, Martial Kings, Martial Emperors, Martial Monarchs, Martial Gods, and Martial Ancestors. There are a total of nine distinct levels!

The key difference between demonic beasts and cultivators lies in their physical strength. Cultivators are relatively weaker, whereas demonic beasts can exert strength about one level higher than their own. Hence, in a battle between equally ranked cultivators and demonic beasts, the latter's strength is often superior.

Moreover, Fire Wolves are pack animals known for their coordinated combat tactics. Even Qi Yuan, if faced with these eleven Fire Wolves, would likely meet his demise. This is precisely why Jiaang Lin felt confident in leaving the Fire Wolves to protect the village while he joined the hunting team on their expedition.

"I really didn't expect you to be able to subdue such a ferocious demonic beast like the Fire Wolf to serve you!" Tie Ta said, leading the group.

"Mr. Jiaang, you're truly incredible. I'll have to try my hand at capturing a bear to keep as a pet!" Tie Ta chimed in, eliciting laughter from everyone, except for Ji Zhong, who maintained his stern, expressionless demeanor.

"Immortal Master, Tie Ta has never been the sharpest tool in the shed, so please don't mind his silly talk," Tie Ta said, giving Tie Ta a playful knock on the head.

Watching Tie Ta's effortless actions, Jiaang Lin thought he understood why Tie Ta might be considered a bit slow.

Upon reaching the mountain forest, the group was surrounded by towering rocks, massive trees, and dense underbrush. They moved cautiously, silent in the presence of a plump rabbit ahead.

Tie Ta gestured for everyone to halt, then stealthily approached the unsuspecting rabbit. Sensing danger, the rabbit scanned its surroundings just as Tie Ta released an arrow, piercing the rabbit's eyes and pinning it to the ground.

"Beautiful shot!" the men praised, admiring Tie Ta's skill. He simply smiled, humbly accepting the compliment without a hint of arrogance.

Jiaang Lin watched Tie Ta's movements with admiration for his decisiveness. When Tie Ta grasped the crossbow, Jiaang Lin felt as though man and weapon had become one. It was as if, with the crossbow in his hands, Tie Ta could never miss.

"I never imagined that in such a small village, we'd find a master like Tie Ta," Jiaang Lin said, offering his sincere praise.

Tie Ta, a middle-aged man with the innocence of a child, blushed slightly at the compliment.

Just then, a loud bird call pierced the air. Everyone turned to see a bird, resembling a pigeon but ten times larger, take flight. Startled by the twang of the crossbow, it had no choice but to spread its wings.

"That's a Cloud Pigeon! They usually hide in the dense treetops, almost impossible to spot!" Jiaang Xiaodong lamented as he watched the Cloud Pigeon disappear into the distance. "If only we had known it was there, we could have feasted on pigeon meat!"

"Indeed! That Cloud Pigeon must weigh at least forty kilograms, enough for every family in our village to have a share of the meat," Qiu Xiya added, echoing the sentiment of loss.

"What a shame..." Hammer remarked.
