C13 She Was Born Disabled

"Are you sure you want to lend the Sunbeam Blade to Xiahou Wu?"

Are you sure?

"He can only use it for a maximum of three days if he borrows it. If it's not returned within that time, the Sunbeam Blade will vanish on its own."

It will vanish?

What does that even mean, it will vanish?

Does this mean Xiahou Wu might not manage to return the Sunbeam Blade in time?

He hasn't even had the chance to properly use his treasure. Chen Fan felt a pang of sorrow at the thought.

But there were no other options available, so he reluctantly nodded and said, "I'll lend it to you to take on that person. I believe you won't die, so you have to return it to me, got it?"

Xiahou Wu was taken aback by these words and took a moment before he could respond, just staring at Chen Fan.

"Why do you believe I won't die? I don't even have faith in my own abilities. Aren't you being a bit too nonchalant with your trust?"

He was Xiahou Wu, and he had never boasted about his strength. Since arriving here, he had become even more aware of his limitations. It wasn't a lack of self-belief, but rather he didn't want to burden others with confidence in him!

After all, the more Chen Fan believed, the greater his disappointment would be if Xiahou Wu failed.

Annoyed by the conversation, Chen Fan thrust the Sunbeam Blade into Xiahou Wu's arms.

"You've already borrowed it, so why the long face? If you really don't want it, then hand it back. But remember, once you return it, I won't lend it to you again!"

He was already reluctant to let go of the blade, and Xiahou Wu's hesitance was not helping.

Without further ado, Xiahou Wu accepted the Sunbeam Blade, pushed himself to his feet, and launched an attack at Chen Fan. Chen Fan dropped and rolled on the ground, narrowly evading Xiahou Wu's strike.

Getting back on his feet, Chen Fan turned to Xiahou Wu and demanded, "Are you trying to kill me with that heavy hand of yours?"

Xiahou Wu remained silent, lifting his leg again as he continued to probe Chen Fan's abilities.

Chen Fan might not have been strong in attack, but his evasion skills were certainly impressive; Xiahou Wu couldn't lay a finger on him.

Upon witnessing the tense scene, the individuals near Lu Xuanxin grew visibly anxious. One of them turned to her and asked, "Are we just going to stand here and not offer assistance?"

"Assist?" Lu Xuanxin replied, turning to the person beside her. "And how exactly would you assist?"

After posing the question, she redirected her attention to Chen Fan, narrowing her eyes as she intently observed him. Truth be told, she was curious about Chen Fan's actual capabilities.

Did Prof. Wang know too much? And were his combat skills unusually proficient?

Chen Fan, sensing Lu Xuanxin's scrutiny, looked back at her, their gazes meeting by chance.

He seemed to recall something suddenly, bending his knees and lying down just in time as Xiahou Wu's leg swung towards him, stopping mere inches away. Had Xiahou Wu been a fraction quicker, his kick would have landed squarely on Chen Fan.

Chen Fan turned to Xiahou Wu and inhaled deeply before speaking in a cold tone, "I thought you were trying to murder me. If that's not the case, why are you still standing there? Help me up, now!"

Xiahou Wu extended his hand, which Chen Fan grasped to pull himself to his feet. Once upright, Chen Fan released Xiahou Wu's hand with a swift shake and made his way directly towards Lu Xuanxin.

"Officer Lu," he remarked, "you seem quite engrossed, don't you?"

"Indeed, it's quite the spectacle," she responded.

Their eyes locked, and though their thoughts remained unspoken, the gravity of their expressions spoke volumes.

Chen Fan gestured with a dismissive wave of his hand and turned to leave. Unexpectedly, before he could exit, a person hurried in, stopping next to Lu Xuanxin with a look of urgency plastered across his face.

"The person from outside has arrived, but several others have appeared out of nowhere. They've started fighting; you should go check it out."

A person? Several people?

Upon hearing this, Chen Fan's brow furrowed with concern. He had an unsettling premonition, and for some reason, Zhou Qianlong was the first person who came to mind.

Zhou Qianlong knew too much. If it were him, he would surely secure this location first. Any disturbance here would not escape Zhou Qianlong's notice.

Could these naive kids actually be trying to take on Feng Yuxiu?

Even Xiahou Wu can't hold a candle to Feng Yuxiu at the moment. Are Zhou Qianlong and the others out of their minds?

Chen Fan dashed over, and upon exiting, he found the others sprawled on the ground. Feng Yuxiu and Zhou Qianlong stood outside the detention center, their gazes brimming with animosity, poised to clash at any moment.

Zhou Qianlong drew his Sunbeam Blade and stared down Feng Yuxiu, declaring icily, "An eye for an eye – that's the price you owe for taking a life. You're the murderer, so it's time to face the consequences. Just surrender!"

At those words, Feng Yuxiu burst into laughter, his gaze dripping with scorn as he looked at Zhou Qianlong.

"Surrender?"

Feng Yuxiu glanced down at his shoes, noting the uneven soles.

With a contemptuous snort, Feng Yuxiu lifted his gaze back to Zhou Qianlong and retorted coldly, "Surrendering is out of the question for me. However, I'll extend you the opportunity to make a choice. Leave now, and we'll forget this ever happened. If you choose to stay, don't blame me for what comes next!"

He was born with one leg shorter than the other, but was that his fault?

Did he choose to be this way?

If it wasn't his fault, why should he bear the brunt of the blame?

He simply wanted to prove that he too could be a king!

He, Feng Yuxiu, was the true champion of the martial arts world!

Zhou Qianlong remained silent, showing no signs of backing down.

Observing Zhou Qianlong's defiance, Feng Yuxiu raised his hands in a traditional salute and said, "So be it. I, Feng Yuxiu, am prepared for a duel that will settle both our fates and our lives. If you're so eager to meet your end, I shall oblige. Let's begin!"

"Hold on!"

Chen Fan's voice interrupted, drawing the attention of both men.

Chen Fan, with a furrowed brow, looked at Zhou Qianlong with impatience and admonished, "What are you thinking, engaging him here? Do you have any idea how formidable he is? Get out of here, now!"

"Prof. Wang?"

Zhou Qianlong was ungrateful, to say the least. He faced Chen Fan with a smirk, his laughter laced with derision.

"Shouldn't Prof. Wang be with Tan Jingyao right about now? What brings you here?"

Knowing that Feng Yuxiu was on his way, he deliberately diverted his attention to someone else. What was his intention, to make him miss his encounter with Feng Yuxiu?

Had it not been for someone keeping an eye on him here, he might have actually fallen for Chen Fan's deception!

Hearing this, Chen Fan raised his hand to his forehead and gave it a pat, a hint of helplessness on his face.

At this point, he genuinely couldn't tell if Zhou Qianlong was truly naive or just pretending to be.
