C20 You Are Not Causing Trouble!
Jiang Zhuo's gaze swept over with a hint of scorn. "Miss Bai, rest assured, with me here, there's no need for concern."
"But..." Bai Ningshuang was still not at ease.
With a wry smile, Jiang Zhuo conceded, "Well then, it's no trouble at all. I'll lend a hand."
He approached the bedside and firmly grasped the old man's arm. With a practiced motion, he turned the elder onto his side and delivered a firm pat to his back.
Cough!
The old man let out a hefty cough, expelling a chestnut along with a spray of saliva!
The onlookers were dumbfounded.
No one had anticipated that the old man was simply choking.
"Cough, cough, cough."
The elder's coughs racked his body as his eyes fluttered open.
"Grandfather!" Bai Ningshuang's eyes brimmed with tears as she embraced him.
"Ningshuang, what's happened to me?" the old man asked, his voice weak and his eyes clouded with confusion.
"Grandfather, you were choking," Bai Ningshuang explained, relief washing over her as her eyes reddened.
It was a close call!
She turned to Jiang Zhuo, her face etched with guilt and self-reproach, and whispered, "I'm sorry, I..."
"Elder Bai, can you move your legs?" Gao Hai stepped forward quickly, his voice laced with concern.
The elder on the bed paused, then shook his head. "I can't feel them; they won't move at all."
Gao Hai's eyes sparkled with triumph, and he burst into laughter. "Young man! You haven't won yet. Remember, we agreed the cure had to be complete."
Jiang Zhuo's lips curled into a knowing smile as he fixed Gao Hai with a meaningful stare.
That look sent a shiver down Gao Hai's spine, a premonition of ill fortune creeping in.
Without a word, Jiang Zhuo took Guo Jingyi's silver needle, rolled up the elder's pant leg, and began to insert the needle into various acupoints on his leg.
"Old man, try not to lie in bed too long in the future. Prolonged pressure can compress the sciatic nerve, leading to numbness and immobility," Jiang Zhuo advised as he administered the acupuncture.
"Hiss! I can feel it!"
The elder gasped, his face etched with astonishment.
"Grandpa, can you move now?" Bai Ningshuang was overjoyed.
Jiang Zhuo finished administering the acupuncture and then pressed several acupoints on the elder's leg.
Having completed the treatment, he casually tossed the silver needle aside and gave Guo Jingyi a sidelong glance, saying coolly, "There's no need for you to admit you're incompetent. This was a minor issue that you've blown out of proportion."
Guo Jingyi's face flushed with embarrassment. He hung his head, unable to find the words to respond.
Then, he stood up and bowed deeply. "Sir, my apologies. I failed to recognize your expertise."
"Professor Guo..." Gao Hai was taken aback.
Jiang Zhuo was slightly surprised but responded with a faint smile. "Don't sell yourself short. Your acupuncture technique and experience are quite impressive. There are few in Lunamis who can match you."
"Sir, you flatter me. I am truly humbled," Guo Jingyi replied, his shame deepening.
"Professor Guo, regardless, I'm grateful you took the time to treat my grandfather," Bai Ningshuang said, rising and bowing with grace.
Guo Jingyi, somewhat sheepish, explained, "Actually, I was invited here to address a complex medical case and just happened to pass by. I thought I'd lend a hand."
"If there's nothing else, I'll be on my way."
Jiang Zhuo, uninterested in further conversation, pocketed his hands and walked away.
"Wait a moment!" Bai Ningshuang called out, reaching out and hurrying after him.
"Hmph!"
Gao Hai, his face a mask of fury, followed suit.
Outside the ward, Gao Hai confronted Jiang Zhuo in the corridor, his voice icy. "Kid, I saw nothing praiseworthy about you. Elder Bai's condition was a trivial matter."
Jiang Zhuo glanced back, his tone nonchalant. "If it was such a trivial matter, why didn't you diagnose it?"
"I..."
Gao Hai, seething with frustration, clenched his teeth and demanded, "Do you have any idea who you're speaking to? After the way you treated me, I expect an immediate apology!"
"Gao Hai, please stop. Jiang Zhuo has been good to me. Show some respect," Bai Ningshuang pleaded.
"No way! I, Gao Hai, have never suffered such an outrageous insult. If he doesn't explain himself today, I will not let it go..."
Smack!
Before he could finish, Gao Hai's cheek was met with a solid slap.
Frozen in shock, he stared at Xue Wentian with disbelief.
Xue Wentian, with a dismissive flick of his gaze, remarked, "Do you really think so highly of yourself? You've repeatedly insulted me, and I've tolerated it time and again. Do you think you can keep pushing your luck?"
"You, you, you!"
Fuming with rage, Gao Hai trembled, his eyes brimming with venom and malice.
"Son of a gun! You're dead today!"
Gao Hai whipped out his phone and dialed a number.
Soon after, a swarm of security guards hurried to the scene.
The head of the guards bellowed, "Who's messing with my brother?"
Clutching his cheek, Gao Hai looked up with a pitiful expression, "Bro, this guy slapped me. You have to make him pay!"
The security guard captain shot Jiang Zhuo a menacing look and said icily, "You dare to strike my brother? Have you got a death wish?"
"Gao Hai, let's not be hasty. We can talk this out," Bai Ningshuang interjected anxiously.
"Ningshuang, stay out of this. Today, I'm going to make him pay and show him his place!" Gao Hai snarled with a fierce look.
Jiang Zhuo glanced over the security guard captain and his team, "A ragtag bunch."
"What did you say? Are you asking for trouble?"
The security guard captain was livid, his presence overwhelming.
The other guards behind him shared hostile glares, their anger palpable.
"Bro, no more talking, just take him down!" Gao Hai goaded.
The captain nodded and commanded, "Everyone, attack! Beat him senseless!"
"Let's see who dares to make a move!"
At that moment, a chilly voice cut through.
All heads turned to see who had spoken.
They saw a striking woman in a white coat approaching, her face stern.
"Director?!"
The security chief was startled and quickly bent over in a bow.
The newcomer was none other than Lin Shixuan.
Lin Shixuan's eyes blazed with fury as she approached the security chief and delivered a harsh slap to his face, demanding, "Who gave you permission to make a scene in the hospital?"
Feeling utterly aggrieved, the security chief looked up at Lin Shixuan and cautiously replied, "Director, I wasn't making a scene."
"Not making a scene, yet you bring in all these people?" Lin Shixuan pointed accusingly at the security personnel before her.
The security chief hastily gestured towards Jiang Zhuo, explaining, "Director, it was this troublemaker who was causing a disturbance in the hospital. I was about to apprehend him."
Jiang Zhuo's lips curled into a smile as he stepped forward, teasingly remarking, "Sister Xuan, does it really take you half a day to change your outfit?"
