C3 The Current Situation!
Suddenly reappearing, he was right in front of the middle-aged man, delivering a punch to his shoulder!
Crack!
The middle-aged man, completely unprepared, had his shoulder bone shattered in an instant!
"Ahhh!"
His scream was piercing, his face contorting to an extreme degree.
Yet, Xiaowu showed no mercy, following up with a kick to the middle-aged man's thigh.
The man's legs snapped crisply, breaking in two!
Thud!
Writhing in agony, the middle-aged man bit down so hard that blood seeped from his teeth.
The brutality of the scene sent shivers down the spines of the onlookers, yet most of them seemed pleased.
As the middle-aged man met his downfall, there was no trace of pity or sympathy among the crowd.
With a nonchalant smile, Xiaowu crushed the man's limbs underfoot. He then gestured to a trembling underling nearby, "You, come here and take him back. Tell your company's boss to come and apologize within a day!"
"A day is too long. Half a day will suffice," Jiang Zhuo interjected with a casual tone.
Xiaowu promptly corrected himself, "Half a day! If he's not here by then, he'd better prepare for his own funeral!"
The underling, ashen-faced and quaking, nodded vigorously, "Yes, yes, we'll leave immediately, right away!"
As they spoke, several underlings approached, sweating profusely and trembling, dragging away the middle-aged man whose limbs had been rendered useless, fleeing the scene in utter disarray.
They didn't even have time to take the excavator with them!
Xiaowu strode over to Jiang Zhuo, casting a glance at Lau Ruoyan before leaning in to whisper, "Boss, I'll go fetch Lin Zhengtian."
"Go ahead," Jiang Zhuo responded with a nod.
Xiaowu turned and hurried off.
Lau Ruoyan watched Xiaowu's retreating figure, feeling as though she was in a surreal haze.
Was the issue really resolved that effortlessly?
She couldn't resist turning her gaze to Jiang Zhuo, finding him increasingly familiar. With a puzzled frown, she asked, "Who... exactly are you?"
Jiang Zhuo turned, his expression a mix of amusement and warmth, as he gazed at Lau Ruoyan. "Sister Yan, are you doing okay?"
"You!"
Lau Ruoyan's delicate frame shuddered, and in a flash, the youthful face that haunted her dreams surfaced in her mind.
"Sister Yan, it's me, Jiang Zhuo!" he said with a gentle smile, his eyes brimming with fondness.
Tears welled up in Lau Ruoyan's eyes. She bit her lip and shook her head in disbelief. "Don't deceive me. How could you possibly be Zhuo? Zhuo was... clearly so frail and skinny."
A decade ago, Jiang Zhuo was underdeveloped and extremely slender, resembling a bamboo pole.
But the young man before her now stood tall and imposing, like a mountain, exuding an extraordinary aura.
How could this man be the same frail Zhuo from back then?
It was utterly inconceivable!
Finding himself at a loss, Jiang Zhuo stepped closer and whispered something in Lau Ruoyan's ear, a secret meant only for them.
Upon hearing his words, Lau Ruoyan's cheeks flushed with a mix of shame and annoyance. She glanced at Jiang Zhuo skeptically and asked, "How could you possibly know about me..."
"Now do you believe it's me?" Jiang Zhuo asked with a smile.
Lau Ruoyan bowed her head, remaining silent.
Seconds later, tears cascaded down her cheeks like a dam had burst.
"Zhuo, where on earth have you been all these years?"
Dabbing at her tears, Lau Ruoyan looked up at Jiang Zhuo, her eyes swimming with emotion.
"I... Haha, we can catch up on all that later," Jiang Zhuo said with a nostalgic smile.
He had a mission to fulfill and didn't want to drag his family into it.
There would be time to share everything with them once his mission was complete.
"Zhuo!"
Unable to suppress her feelings any longer, Lau Ruoyan flung herself into Jiang Zhuo's embrace and sobbed uncontrollably.
Though she was two years his senior, she had never quite played the role of the older sister. To Jiang Zhuo, she had always been more like a little sister.
"I was afraid I'd never see you again," Lau Ruoyan wept, her voice breaking with each sob.
Over ten years ago, Jiang Zhuo had disappeared without a trace, as if he had evaporated from the world.
The six sisters had scoured every corner of Jiangbei City!
Regrettably, they found no trace of Jiang Zhuo.
Despite the years that had passed, they never ceased their search for him.
Yet, they always came up empty-handed.
Lau Ruoyan and her sisters harbored a deep sense of guilt regarding Jiang Zhuo, feeling responsible for not having looked after him well enough, which led to his disappearance.
Now, upon seeing Jiang Zhuo again, Lau Ruoyan could no longer suppress the emotions swelling in her heart.
Over a decade of guilt and self-reproach came pouring out.
Jiang Zhuo soothed Lau Ruoyan with a soft voice, "Sister Yan, I've returned, haven't I?"
Lau Ruoyan's tears ceased as she lifted her head, a smile gracing her exquisite features as she gazed at Jiang Zhuo. "Zhuo, you've grown so much. You were such a little thing before, and now you tower over us sisters."
"The changes in me go beyond height. I've returned to reunite with the family. From this point forward, I, Jiang Zhuo, will be the one to protect you all!" Jiang Zhuo proclaimed confidently, standing tall and speaking with conviction.
Lau Ruoyan dabbed the tears from the corners of her eyes, her lips curving into a proud smile. "Zhuo, you've certainly undergone a transformation, but we sisters haven't been idle either. We're all quite capable now; there's no need for you to protect us. In fact, we should be the ones protecting you!"
Jiang Zhuo looked surprised as he glanced toward the interior of the orphanage, asking with a hint of confusion, "Why don't I see Big Sis and the rest?"
"Big Sis and the others are swamped with work and hardly have time to come back throughout the year," Lau Ruoyan explained.
"Sister Yan, is this the Zhuo you always talk about?" A little girl with a cherubic face tugged at Lau Ruoyan's arm, eyeing Jiang Zhuo with curiosity.
"Call him brother!" Jiang Zhuo insisted with a mock sternness.
The little girl playfully stuck out her tongue, teasing, "Sister Yan, aren't you going to scold your brother?"
"Yiyi! No mischief!" Lau Ruoyan chided gently.
Jiang Zhuo couldn't help but chuckle, lifting the little girl into his arms and playfully tweaking her nose. "You're quite the little imp, daring to tease me like that?"
If anyone in the military caught a glimpse of Jiang Zhuo's tender side, they would be utterly astounded, likely with their jaws hitting the floor.
Who would have the audacity to jest with the State Protector, God of War, within the ranks?
"Zhuo, let's go inside and talk."
Lau Ruoyan, guiding the other children, ushered Jiang Zhuo into the orphanage.
As they walked and talked, Jiang Zhuo learned about his sisters' recent endeavors from Lau Ruoyan. The eldest, Qin Shuyin, had risen to the position of CEO of a multinational corporation! The second sister, Yang Yunyao, was enigmatic, as elusive as the proverbial Dragon. And the third sister, Su Xuewei, was serving as a lecturer at a prestigious university in Shanghai!
