C5 Break Through the Limit!!
After running ten kilometers, Tang Ming didn't feel the slightest bit of fatigue. He had expended half of his energy, which was to be expected. His physical endurance was superior to that of his fellow soldiers, but completing a five-kilometer run in just thirteen and a half minutes took a significant toll on his stamina. At the fifteen-kilometer mark, it was sheer physical strength that kept him going. However, for the final five kilometers, it was his soldier's willpower that propelled him forward.
Breathing heavily, Tang Ming ran with a fierce determination. Chen Pai and Zhuang Yan were hot on his heels, trailing by no more than ten meters. They had clearly burned through much of their energy by setting a rapid pace early on, yet they managed to maintain the pace set by Tang Ming. Other members of the reconnaissance company lagged behind by at least 200 meters after seven kilometers.
"My platoon leader and my radioman have some real strength," Miao Lian remarked with a smile from a distance.
As time wore on, the heat intensified, sapping the runners' energy more quickly. Tang Ming completed the second five-kilometer stretch in fifteen minutes and the third in seventeen minutes. Now, with only five kilometers to go and just fourteen and a half minutes remaining, his stamina was nearly spent. His pallor and shaky legs were telltale signs that he was pushing his limits; the absence of sweat was a clear indicator of his extreme exertion. Chen Pai and Zhuang Yan were in a similar state.
They could have completed the twenty-kilometer run at their own pace, but Tang Ming's personal standards were high; he aimed to finish with the best possible time and speed. To match Tang Ming's relentless pace, they had to use up more energy sooner than planned.
Several soldiers from the reconnaissance company had already given up, resigning themselves to sitting on the ground, unable to continue. Those still running were significantly slower than Tang Ming and his companions, trailing by at least three kilometers.
In the end, Chen Pai reached his limit and collapsed to the ground, gasping for air and clutching his knees.
"Chen Pai, how are you holding up?" Zhuang Yan called out to Chen Pai with concern.
"I'm okay. Just keep running! Don't worry about me!" Chen Pai gasped out the words.
Zhuang Yan clenched his jaw and once again caught up to Tang Ming.
Tang Ming had overheard Chen Pai's words. He recalled that Chen Pai had a severe knee injury, one that had ended his military aspirations.
In his past life, Tang Ming had watched a TV series where Chen Pai was forced to withdraw from the special forces selection. He saw Chen Pai crying on a hospital bed, but at the time, it hadn't moved him much. Now, wearing the uniform himself, he grasped the profound significance it held for a soldier.
"I need to find a chance for Miao Lian to get Chen Pai to the hospital as soon as possible. If treated early, there might be hope for his recovery. Otherwise, if he continues to conceal his condition, he may never join the special forces and could even end up disabled," Tang Ming pondered.
Eventually, after pushing for another two kilometers, Tang Ming's endurance hit its limit, and Zhuang Yan was also at his breaking point. They both wanted to pick up the pace and keep going. However, anyone who has run a marathon knows that in the final stretch, exhaustion sets in so deeply that your legs refuse to move and even breathing becomes a struggle.
The reconnaissance company's instructor addressed Miao Lian, "Miao, they've clearly hit their limits. It's scorching out here; we should let them stop."
Miao Lian shook his head, "A soldier seeking significant improvement in strength must constantly push past his body's limits. Remember, the Wolf Fang selection process is far more brutal than their current training. It relentlessly challenges them to surpass both physical and mental barriers. If they can't break through, they'll remain stagnant or worse, get eliminated. We've struggled to push Zhuang past his limits for a long time. Now that he's got this chance, we can't call it quits."
The instructor was well aware of Miao Lian's stubborn streak and knew just how tough he could be. Given the opportunity, he would rigorously train his soldiers.
"I can't give up!"
"Come on! I can definitely do it!"
Tang Ming kept his head down, shouting these words of encouragement to himself.
If he failed to complete the task within the allotted time, he would face serious consequences.
It was only after he had pep-talked himself that a burst of energy welled up inside him.
Tang Ming let out a roar of determination and picked up his pace.
He was determined to seize this chance and push past his limits!
Now, he was just two kilometers from the finish line, with only five minutes remaining!
This meant he had to run faster than he had during the previous five kilometers to complete the mission!
Tang Ming continued to roar, charging forward with everything he had.
At this moment, he was beyond caring whether his body could handle the strain; he was tapping into every ounce of his potential!
The world around him seemed to fade away.
Zhuang Yan, not far behind him, was equally driven to win.
Seeing Tang Ming increasing the gap, Zhuang's eyes snapped into focus, and he let out a roar of his own, pouring all his energy into catching up.
"They're pushing beyond their limits!"
From a distance, Miao Lian's face lit up with excitement, and he burst into hearty laughter.
"I knew they wouldn't disappoint!"
