C18 Meal Gathering
"Hey, what's she calling about?"
The male club member asked, his face alight with curiosity.
Yang Rann looked at him with a hint of astonishment, as if she wanted to chide him for being as nosy as a woman.
Nevertheless, Yang Rann indulged his curiosity, "Well, it's mostly because my cousin isn't getting any younger. Her parents have been pressuring her to get married, but she's still single. Today, she got pushed into another blind date by my aunt and uncle, and it didn't go well, so she came to vent to me."
At that, the male member perked up, "Hehe, President, take a good look at me. What do you think? Maybe you could set me up with your cousin?"
"You?"
"Forget it. My cousin is very selective, which is why she's still single. Your dad is just a department manager; she won't be interested in you."
Yang Rann replied with a dismissive snort.
The male member's face fell at her words.
"With standards as high as your cousin's, she'll probably end up with someone like Xiao Hee," he said bitterly.
Yang Rann felt a surge of irritation. "To hell with that! Are you looking for trouble? My cousin would rather stay single for life than settle for someone like Xiao Hee."
Frightened by her reaction, the male member turned on his heel and bolted.
Just then, a Mercedes-Benz C-Class zoomed around the corner and pulled up at the tennis court's entrance.
A man in a suit, tie, and sunglasses stepped out, exuding an air of confidence.
Yang Rann's mood instantly brightened, and she dashed over to him.
"Lu Yuan, what brings you here? And you've got a new car?"
Yang Rann inquired.
"President Lu is truly our tennis club's wealthiest member, already driving a luxury Benz. That car must have cost at least four to five hundred thousand, right?"
"I'm so jealous. I wish I could drive my own car someday."
"Psh, President Lu is in a league of his own. How can we ordinary folks even compare?"
The other club members chimed in with their flattery, seemingly well-practiced in the art of adulation.
"It's not that pricey, actually. My car is the base model, only about three hundred thousand. I've only had my driver's license for a short while, and I'm still getting the hang of driving. I'm using this Benz to practice; I plan to upgrade to a new one in a couple of years."
Lu Yuan boasted with an air of arrogance.
The club members listening were left speechless. Wasn't this just blatant showing off? A Mercedes worth over 300,000 yuan was merely a plaything for him. He really knew how to flaunt his wealth.
Nevertheless, flattery was in no short supply. After basking in the compliments, Lu Yuan appeared quite pleased with himself.
"I've been looking for something fun to do, and since you've got a car, why not take me out for a spin?"
Yang Rann gave Lu Yuan a coquettish look as she spoke.
"If it's a request from Miss Yang, I'd be delighted to oblige."
Lu Yuan replied with a slight smile, his intention all along being to woo Yang Rann, which is why he had gone to great lengths to purchase the car.
"Lin Ling, come on, let's go for a drive!"
Yang Rann beckoned to Lin Ling excitedly.
Lin Ling quickly joined her, and although she felt strongly for Xiao Hee, Yang Rann was still her closest friend.
"President, you're off for a drive. What should we do? How about we get together tonight?"
Yu Guang suggested, his ulterior motive clear. He was interested in Lin Ling and was eager to get to know her better.
"Sure, let's all meet up for dinner tonight. We'll go Dutch, but of course, us ladies won't need to chip in."
"Should we invite Xiao Hee as well?"
Lin Ling glanced at Xiao Hee's solitary figure, who seemed rather forlorn.
"Xiao Hee? Let's not bother."
Yang Rann's face twisted with disdain at the mention of Xiao Hee.
Especially after today, when Xiao Hee had the nerve to chat up Lin Ling right in front of her, Yang Rann's dislike for him intensified.
"Besides, that guy never joins us for meals. Plus, even if it's a Dutch treat, he wouldn't be able to afford it!"
"That loser is just not in our league. Let's just forget about him."
Seeing their reaction, Lin Ling decided not to press the issue further. Everyone seemed to be against Xiao Hee, and insisting he join them would only serve to embarrass him.
Yet, as Lin Ling watched Xiao Hee's solitary figure, her heart ached. Why did these people insist on judging others so harshly?
Xiao Hee was unaware of the specifics of the situation. After seeing Lin Ling walk away, he prepared to leave as well. He suspected he'd soon be expelled from the tennis club, and saw little point in remaining.
It was then that Mo Chen's call came through.
"Hello, Third Young Master, I've taken care of the issue for you. The people at Sky Blue Group have been warned, and I believe they understand what's expected of them now," Mo Chen reported.
"Alright, I got it," Xiao Hee responded, his tone nonchalant, as if such matters were all in a day's work for him.
And why not? Xiao Hee's background was anything but ordinary. The wealthy heirs at Feng Yun University might carry themselves with a certain flair, but next to Xiao Hee, they couldn't even claim a connection to true affluence.
