C19 Invite
The efficiency of the family business really is impressive; it took less than an hour to sort out the Sky Blue Group.
Soon enough, Wu Feng called, just as expected.
"Old Xiao, hurry over to the Huafeng Hotel. Yueer's treating us!" Wu Feng's voice was brimming with excitement, a stark contrast to the somber tone he had earlier in the day. Clearly, Lin Yueer had also gotten the news.
"Yeah, Old Xiao, come on over. We're all waiting for you here."
"Why is she treating? Didn't her family have those issues?"
Xiao Hee feigned confusion. He was well aware of the situation but had to act as if nothing had happened.
Though he had indeed helped Lin Yueer this time, he preferred to keep it under wraps.
Primarily, he wanted to avoid any further involvement with Lin Yueer. His assistance was merely to atone for a past mistake.
"Lin Yueer's family issue has been resolved, and what's more, Lan Ruofeng, the head of Sky Blue Group, personally came to apologize. It's surprising how well-connected her family is, to have the boss of the Sky Blue Group personally apologize," Wu Feng remarked, somewhat astonished.
To him, the Sky Blue Group was a colossal entity, untouchable and not to be crossed. Who would have imagined seeing its boss personally making amends? It was a humbling sight.
Even the formidable figures, it seemed, had their own fears.
Of course, he couldn't have guessed that all this was Xiao Hee's doing, and it was unlikely anyone else would either.
"Really? Well, that's good to hear, but I'll pass on going over."
Xiao Hee truly had no desire to further entangle himself with Lin Yueer.
"What do you mean you're not coming? Lin Yueer's family problems are settled, she won't hold anything against you now. What's there to worry about?"
"Exactly, and it's the Huafeng Hotel! We rarely get the chance to dine at such an upscale place. This might be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. You'll regret it if you don't come."
"Come on, Old Xiao, think of it as just joining a few brothers for a drink."
Wu Feng wasn't the only one; Chen Feng and Zhang Qi were also there, eagerly inviting Xiao Hee to join them.
Seeing their warm invitation, Xiao Hee found it hard to decline, so he simply nodded in agreement.
Hua Sheng Hotel, fifth floor.
By the time Xiao Hee arrived, the table was already surrounded by a number of guests.
"Why are you here? Just to mooch some food and drinks, huh?"
Upon spotting Xiao Hee, Lin Yueer couldn't hide her contempt.
Witnessing this, Lee Momo quickly tugged at Lin Yueer's sleeve and shot her a pleading look. After all, Xiao Hee was Wu Feng's friend, and Lin Yueer's disdainful attitude was putting Wu Feng in an awkward position.
For the sake of Wu Feng's dignity, Lin Yueer held back her disdain and said nonchalantly, "Never mind. I'm in a good mood today, so I'll let it slide. Go ahead and mooch."
Xiao Hee maintained a stoic expression throughout. No matter how harshly Lin Yueer spoke to him, he never showed any sign of being affected.
Lin Yueer sometimes wondered how it was possible for someone to be so imperturbable. If it were her, she would have lost her temper long ago after being subjected to such repeated insults.
Naturally, Lin Yueer chalked it up to Xiao Hee's timidity—a spineless wimp who neither fought back nor retorted. What else could be expected from him?
However, Lin Yueer's behavior didn't faze Xiao Hee, and there was a good reason for that. His three years of college had taught him forbearance. He had faced far greater malice daily than anything Lin Yueer could muster, and he had always endured it.
If he allowed a few words to upset him, he'd be worn out before the day was over.
Another significant reason was his perspective on insults—they were like a dog's barking to him. When a mad dog barks at you, you don't bark back, do you?
"Yue Er, who is this guy?"
A few of the people Xiao Hee didn't recognize noticed Lin Yueer's apparent dislike for him and couldn't help but inquire.
"Him? You all know him," Lin Yueer said with a hint of sarcasm, the corner of her mouth curling into a slight smirk.
"We all know him?"
Her friends began to look puzzled, wracking their brains for any memories of Xiao Hee.
They started whispering among themselves until Lin Yueer said something that made them all turn to Xiao Hee with looks of astonishment, as if they were seeing a rare creature for the first time.
It was clear that Lin Yueer had revealed her identity to them.
These individuals were unmistakably students from Feng Yun University. They had heard of Xiao Hee before but had never actually seen him in person.
Now that they were finally face to face with the real Xiao Hee, they were understandably amazed.
"By the way, Yueer, I didn't expect your family's connections to be so impressive. To think that even the Sky Blue Group would personally come to apologize to you," Wu Feng remarked.
"Indeed, for a company like the Sky Blue Group to show fear, that's something," another friend chimed in.
"It looks like our Yueer is more than just a rich heiress; she's got the power connections too!" the group echoed, showering her with compliments.
