C5 Watch the Show

After some time had passed, Huang Xuan approached the office door and was taken aback to see the receptionists lined up, their expressions downcast. His face immediately fell. "Didn't I ask you to take good care of Mr. Xiao? Why are you all just standing here?"

The receptionists offered a wry smile. "Manager, it's not that we didn't want to attend to him; he sent us out!"

"He sent you out?" Huang Xuan was perplexed. Could Mr. Xiao possibly be indifferent to the company of women? This was a disaster. His clever plan had backfired. If Mr. Xiao was displeased, it would be a catastrophe.

Worried, Huang Xuan entered the office carrying a bag containing one million yuan, meticulously packaged. "Mr. Xiao, here is your one million yuan, along with your card."

He presented the cash and the black card to Xiao Hee with a grave look. "Okay, thank you!" Xiao Hee acknowledged with a slight nod.

"No, it's my duty," Huang Xuan insisted, shaking his head.

"Manager Huang, you're a clever man. Should there be an opportunity for collaboration in the future, I'll be sure to seek you out," Xiao Hee said with a knowing smile.

"This... Thank you so much. It would be an honor!" Huang Xuan was overjoyed, nodding enthusiastically.

Having collected the money, Xiao Hee left Fengxing Bank, hailed a cab on the street, and returned to dormitory 609. Upon entering, his roommates quickly gathered around him, their faces etched with curiosity.

"Hey, Old Xiao, why are you back already?" inquired Zhang Qi, one of Xiao Hee's roommates.

Xiao Hee couldn't suppress a bitter smile. Indeed, he had told Zhang Qi and the others that he wouldn't be returning to the dormitory today because he was going out with Zhang Qian. What he hadn't anticipated was that Lin Qi had used Zhang Qian's phone to message him, nor could he have imagined the scene that awaited him as he stepped through the door.

"What's with that look, Old Xiao? You didn't have a row with Zhang Qian, did you? Come on, you two have been together for ages; why are you acting like children and throwing tantrums?" Xiao Hee's roommate, Chen Feng, asked with concern.

All three roommates were eyeing Xiao Hee with tension, clearly under the impression that he had argued with Zhang Qian.

"Don't even bring her up!" Xiao Hee's demeanor grew increasingly grim, his voice icy.

"What exactly happened?" Wu Feng, the dorm leader of dormitory 609 and Xiao Hee's closest friend, stood tall at 1.8 meters and was notably handsome. It was evident from Xiao Hee's tone that something serious had transpired between him and Zhang Qian, and it was certainly more than just a spat.

Xiao Hee then shared the entire situation with Lin Tian and the others.

Upon hearing the details, Wu Feng was the first to react, his anger flaring as he prepared to confront Lin Qi, only to be restrained by Xiao Hee.

"Damn it! This is outrageous! That pair of cheaters dared to do this to you? I'll make them pay!" Wu Feng fumed, his face reddening with rage.

"Let it go. That Lin Qi is a rich second-generation type. We're just losers; we can't mess with him," Chen Feng sighed, his voice a mix of frustration and resignation. Despite feeling indignant on Xiao Hee's behalf, he remained level-headed, knowing they were no match for someone of Lin Qi's status.

"Are we just going to let this slide?" Wu Feng clenched his teeth in anger.

Zhang Qi sighed, giving Wu Feng a sympathetic pat on the shoulder. "Let it go, Wu Feng. Chen Feng is right. We're just a bunch of losers; we stand no chance against a rich second-generation. It's like throwing eggs at a rock. Sometimes you just have to weather the storm and keep your head down."

At those words, Wu Feng fell into a heavy silence, his heart full of frustration at the injustice his good friend had endured yet having to swallow his pride.

Turning to Xiao Hee, Zhang Qi offered a comforting hand on his shoulder. "Old Xiao, don't take it too hard. That kind of woman isn't worth your sorrow. Getting a divorce is for the best."

Upon hearing the words, Xiao Hee offered a faint smile. He was aware that his three roommates cared deeply for him, a kind of genuine friendship he had never experienced during his days as a wealthy heir. He treasured this bond immensely.

"Don't worry about me," he reassured them. "One day, I'll make that woman regret her actions!"

Xiao Hee's smile was tinged with a hint of sharpness in his eyes. Yet, Chen Feng and the others mistook his confidence for bravado.

"Still, since you and Zhang Qian are both in the same class and share a desk, you'll need to keep your cool," Wu Feng advised earnestly.

It seemed they were all concerned Xiao Hee might lose his temper, so that evening, Chen Feng and the others provided him with some heartfelt psychological support, leaving him with mixed feelings of amusement and gratitude.

The next morning, Xiao Hee was forced to confront the woman who filled him with disgust and weariness. Zhang Qian, catching his glance while chatting with other girls, looked back at Xiao Hee only to blatantly ignore him.

Their interaction, or lack thereof, drew the attention of the entire class. The pair, who were once inseparable and had caused quite a stir with their marriage at Feng Yun University, were now clearly at odds. Zhang Qian, while not the reigning campus belle, was always a contender in the school beauty rankings.

But today, with one wearing a grim expression and the other opting for indifference, anyone unable to read between the lines would be utterly oblivious.

"Hey, Old Xiao, what's going on with you two? You're not telling me you've had a falling out, are you?" a group of male students asked, more eager for entertainment than concerned about Xiao Hee's relationship with Zhang Qian. They were clearly there for the drama.
