C7 Meeting
"Lu Yao, have you said enough?" Zhang Qian glared at Lu Yao, her words laced with fury. "So what if he slaved away for me? The clothes on my back are worth more than he could afford in five years of backbreaking work. I must have been blind to have ever fancied such a pauper. Thankfully, Lin Qi doesn't care that I was once married to him."
"Zhang Qian, how could you have changed so much?" Lu Yao stared at Zhang Qian, incredulous. She could hardly believe that these spiteful words were coming from her.
"Ha! Are you jealous of me? Jealous that I have a wealthy boyfriend, or are you actually pining for Xiao Hee? Seeing the man you love being mistreated must really get under your skin. You two would be quite the pair—an unwanted old maid and a deadbeat. A match made in heaven!" Zhang Qian sneered at her.
Lu Yao fixed her gaze on Zhang Qian, struggling to reconcile this cruel stranger with the Zhang Qian she once knew.
"Enough of this, darling. Let's not waste our time with this rubbish—it'll only spoil our fun. What shall we do tonight?" Zhang Qian, arm in arm with Lin Qi, strutted off triumphantly.
Xiao Hee sighed, approached Lu Yao, and patted her shoulder, offering solace. "Don't be sad. She's not worth your tears."
Hearing this, Lu Yao chuckled and shook her head. "Aren't you the one who should be receiving comfort? Why are you consoling me instead?"
"What comfort do I need? I'm just relieved I saw her true colors in time, or my life would have been a disaster," Xiao Hee said, shrugging nonchalantly.
"I know you're upset. There's no need to put on a brave face for me. Come on, let me treat you to something tasty," Lu Yao said, smiling warmly at Xiao Hee.
"Thanks, but I'll pass today," Xiao Hee replied, clearly still disturbed by the previous night's events and not in the mood for food.
"In a few days, I'll take you out for a Michelin-starred meal," Xiao Hee said with a slight smile, mimicking Lu Yao's intonation.
"Really?" Lu Yao responded with a smile and a shake of her head, assuming Xiao Hee was just teasing. After all, dining at a Michelin-starred restaurant was notoriously expensive; how could Xiao Hee possibly afford it? Yet, unbeknownst to her, Xiao Hee certainly could afford it. Having regained his wealth, he could now dine at any restaurant in the world, including those with Michelin stars.
"Just don't stand me up," Lu Yao said, half-jokingly, as she left.
After parting ways with Lu Yao, Xiao Hee headed straight back to his dormitory. Upon arrival, he discovered his three roommates had been eagerly awaiting his return.
"What's going on here?" he asked, noticing that his roommates were all dressed up as if they were about to go on blind dates.
"Oh, Old Xiao, you haven't heard? Later, we're meeting up with Wu Feng's girlfriend's roommates and a few other guys for a mixer. It'll be a chance for everyone to get to know each other," Zhang Qi explained with a grin.
"Yeah, my girlfriend's roommates are all gorgeous. You guys better bring your A-game; who knows, you might even find a way to stop being single tonight," Wu Feng added with a smile and a nod.
Hearing this, Xiao Hee sighed and dismissively waved his hand, "Count me out. I'm not interested."
"No, no, Old Xiao, I specifically asked my girlfriend to arrange this for you. If you don't show up, what would that say?" Wu Feng frowned, feigning dissatisfaction.
Xiao Hee grimaced, torn between wanting to decline and not wanting Wu Feng's efforts to be in vain. Reluctantly, he nodded in agreement.
"That's the spirit!" Wu Feng exclaimed, slinging an arm around Xiao Hee's shoulders, his voice filled with empathy. "Old Xiao, I know you're going through a rough patch after your divorce, but it's more important than ever to stay positive. You can't let her think that you can't handle life without her!"
Meanwhile, at a cozy bar near Feng Yun University, a group of girls gathered around a table, chatting animatedly, seemingly engrossed in an intriguing discussion.
The girl seated in the center captivated everyone with her sparkling eyes and exquisite features. Each gesture she made radiated a unique charm, and her long, slender legs were particularly striking, drawing gazes that lingered.
"Hey, have you guys heard?" she asked the other three girls, her face alight with curiosity.
"What's going on? Yueer, spill the beans already, don't keep us in suspense."
The girls, all eager for a juicy story, turned their attention to Lin Yueer.
"It's about that guy who's always scavenging for leftovers in the cafeteria. I heard his girlfriend cheated on him last night, right in front of his face, no less. It's hilarious!"
Lin Yueer could barely contain her laughter as she recounted the story.
"Oh, you mean that guy?"
"That's just awful for him, isn't it?"
"Let's change the subject."
The girl on the far right smiled. "I've already messaged my boyfriend to let him know we're here. He should be bringing his three roommates along shortly."
"Momo, with your boyfriend being so good-looking, I bet his roommates are easy on the eyes too, right?"
"Exactly, and considering most students at Feng Yun University come from wealthy families, they're probably future CEOs. How's my makeup? Is it too much?"
Watching their excited faces, Lee Momo couldn't help but chuckle. "You all are getting ahead of yourselves. They haven't even arrived, and who knows if they'll even be into you."
"How could they not be!"
Lin Yueer shrugged confidently. After all, she was a rich second-generation herself and had no doubts about her ability to attract a boyfriend.
Just then, Wu Feng and his friends approached.
"Momo, we're here. These are my roommates, Zhang Qi and Chen Feng."
From a distance, Wu Feng gestured to them.
Zhang Qi and Chen Feng were both thrilled and anxious, having been single for quite some time.
