C2 It Was Nothing to Do with the Academy

"Phew..."

"Phew..."

"Phew..."

The moment Cai Qitian regained the ability to move, he took off running as if his life depended on it. He wasn't sure why he felt the need to run, but something told him that standing still meant certain death!

It wasn't until he had put a considerable distance between himself and Everdawn Academy that Cai Qitian finally slowed down, leaning against a wall to catch his breath.

As a cultivator, he had the ability to regulate his body temperature, so sweating was normally out of the question. Yet, at that moment, he could feel his back drenched with perspiration.

It was all that damn kid's fault!

That last look he gave was terrifying enough to kill a person!

Even now, recalling it made his heart feel like it was about to burst out of his chest.

All this was Faang Zhengyi's doing. True to his reputation as a traitor of the Cultivator Association, his actions were underhanded and vile. Even though he had lifted the restriction at the last moment, Cai Qitian was far from grateful.

Had it not been for him, would he have endured such humiliation?

He resolved to report to the higher-ups that Everdawn Academy was defiant and needed to be dealt with decisively at the Academy Grand Tournament.

Hehe!

So they didn't want to join the nine great academies?

Well, he would ensure they never got the chance!

By the time he was done with them, they wouldn't qualify for the academies in this life or the next!

"Ptui!"

Cai Qitian spat to himself, wiping the cold sweat from his forehead as he made his way weak-kneed toward the street. He planned to return to his hotel, pack his belongings, and then head back to Wyvernwood Academy.

The sooner he got back, the sooner those fools would meet their end!

"Ptui!"

...

"Lord Wei, thank you so much!"

"That double act earlier was sheer genius!"

"Incredible!"

"Thanks to you, we've managed to save some face!"

"Exactly, that guy was way out of line!"

...

The crowd was buzzing with excitement. Several people, having just received the news in their dormitory, were eagerly waiting to express their gratitude to Faang Wei.

"No, no, it's nothing. Just a small favor!"

"No, no, it was nothing, just a small favor!" Faang Wei chuckled, brushing off the praise with a wave of his hand.

"It's only because our seniors didn't step in. Otherwise, I wouldn't have had my moment to shine!" he continued, scratching his head with a sheepish grin, careful not to hog all the credit.

"Lord Wei, you're one of our seniors too! Don't be so modest!" someone chimed in, quickly followed by others who piled on the compliments.

Faang Wei offered an embarrassed smile and, feeling a bit awkward, quickly excused himself to head back to his dorm.

Being shy was typical for Faang Wei, so no one thought much of it. But once back in his room, the shyness was gone. Instead, he was visibly frustrated, his annoyance nearly leaping from his eyes.

"Damn, this is exhausting!" he exclaimed.

"Why does this blasted academy have to be so full of nonsense?" he grumbled, followed by an exasperated curse.

Mid-complaint, Faang Wei winced as a sharp pain shot through his ear, his eyes narrowing as he remembered the little creature he had overlooked.

"Okay, okay, I apologize. Everdawn Academy is incredibly impressive, alright?" he conceded with a sigh.

The small hamster hopped off his shoulder, giving him a disdainful glance.

"I had to thank you earlier. Killing him would have caused a real mess," Faang Wei said.

"No need to thank me; it's your dad who'll take the fall," the hamster retorted.

Faang Wei sprawled out on the bed in an attempt to clear his head, responding, "Now it's your dad."

The hamster rolled its eyes again and hopped over to the pillow, letting out a sigh. Despite sharing Faang Wei's face, the creature couldn't help but feel the urge to give him a good thump.

But what could it do? It had been reborn through possession by Faang Wei and was now trapped in this hamster body—utterly absurd!

They were bound together in life and death, and if it weren't for the hamster's own business in the Cloud Realm, it would have made a break for it long ago. Life as a hamster... why did it have to be so hard?

Before it could even let out a whimper, a growling stomach interrupted. Jumpy sighed, the urge to cry overwhelming him.

He tugged at Faang Wei's sleeve.

"Hey, what do hamsters usually eat?" he asked, puzzled.

Faang Wei's headache had subsided, but at that question, it came back with a vengeance.

Faang Wei had just gotten over his headache when it started throbbing again. He scratched his head and grimaced.

"I've never fed a hamster before... Maybe I should check the supermarket for something edible..."

With another heavy sigh, Jumpy seemed at a loss.

"Fine!"

No sooner had he spoken than Jumpy leapt onto Faang Wei's shoulder, his voice crisp and commanding.

"Giddyup!"

Suppressing the impulse to swat the pesky hamster, Faang Wei could only think about how he, the Lord of the Nine Realms, had never endured such indignity. When had he ever!

It was supposed to be a simple rescue in the Cloud Realm, but instead of saving the person, he had ended up in peril himself. Absolutely ridiculous!

With a long exhale, Faang Wei silently opened the door and stepped out, his head pounding intensely.
