C22 People Always Have to Have Some Regrets

Faang Wei had truly been loafing around for a week. If Jumpy hadn't been prodding him to attend class daily, he would have preferred to be anywhere else.

Luckily, Mr. Tung was preoccupied with the new Mimicry Fist, selecting twenty students, including Faang Wei, for practice. Tung Xiaoxiao was among them, but Jin Ziyan wasn't afforded this privilege.

Faang Wei had intended to keep taking it easy since he was even more skilled in Mimicry Fist than Mr. Tung, making practice unnecessary. As a result, his afternoons were usually free.

But today, which was Thursday, seemed different. It wasn't about practice; there was another matter requiring everyone's attendance. With the weekend approaching, Jin Zhuo had mentioned needing to discuss something with him, though Faang Wei suspected it wouldn't be particularly engaging.

Yawning and rubbing his eyes, Faang Wei recalled the previous night spent assisting Jumpy in solidifying his cultivation method, which had cost him a good night's sleep. He managed to catch up on some rest at midday.

Jumpy's level had reached the equivalent of the ninth level of Alpha Dawn, just a step away from Primordial. It had been less than a week, and the expressions on their faces would be priceless if they knew.

The cultivation of demonic beasts, from a systemic perspective, shares its roots with human cultivation, with little difference between the two.

However, it's only after reaching the ninth level of Spirit's Awakening that one has the opportunity to shapeshift. Beyond that, the stages progress from spirit animal to profound beast, heavenly beast, and sacred beast, aligning with the human stages of Great Void, Clear Spirit Stage, Tribulation Crossing, and Mahayana Stage.

Regarding the Spirit's Awakening level, Faang Wei, along with Faang Zhengyi, could sense a few others in the No. 57 Moonshadow Lands, likely the heads of the nine great academies and some reclusive experts. But they numbered fewer than fifteen in total.

As for the levels beyond Spirit's Awakening, like the Great Void Stage, Faang Wei hadn't detected anyone. It seemed probable that those individuals wouldn't venture into the lower realms of the Moonshadow Lands.

They remained above.

For the inhabitants of the Moonshadow Lands, some might never get the chance to see that world above in their entire lives.

Yet, sometimes being a frog at the bottom of a well isn't so bad. The more you seek, the more you must sacrifice.

If you can't stay true to your original intentions, the end result might not be as you or I desire.

Contentment has always been my goal. Although...

Since birth, I've been the Lord of the Nine Realms and have never experienced what it's like to be that frog at the bottom of a well, which leaves me feeling...

A bit regretful!

Ah, humans! We're always beautifully flawed in some way.

Jumpy, perched on my shoulder, eyed Faang Wei's mischievous grin, suspecting he was up to no good again.

Pulling on Faang Wei's ear, Jumpy was at a loss for words.

"Come on, everyone's waiting."

"..."

Faang Wei touched his ear and cocked his head.

"Kid, did I ever say you couldn't pull my ear?"

"When did you ever say that?"

Jumpy looked up with wide, innocent eyes and in a flash, darted out, only to feel like he'd run into a human wall within moments.

"Ow! My head!"

Looking up, he realized...

"Hey, just a joke! We're brothers, aren't we?"

"Get lost!"

With a flick of his right hand, Faang Wei sent Jumpy soaring a hundred meters into the air, dusted off his hands, and walked away.

At the ninth level of Alpha Dawn, he was quite skilled.

In no time at all, he felt someone sheepishly grinning on his shoulder, clearly unharmed and still daring.

Faang Wei gave him a look but didn't bother with a response, heading straight for the classroom. This afternoon's gathering wasn't at the training ground.

Upon entering the classroom, many students were already seated, clearly puzzled as to why the afternoon session wasn't at the training ground.

But generally, such changes were for the better. According to Jumpy, sometimes they would have a group movie screening. Even though they'd have to write a reflection afterward, the chance to relax and watch a film together was a welcome break.

There was a relaxed vibe in the air, a perfect blend of work and leisure as suggested by Mr. Faang.

"What movie are we watching today?"

Faang Wei quietly asked Han Dongchuan.

"I have no idea."

Han Dongchuan shook his head and gestured with his mouth to the side.

"Usually, the class monitor plans the movie screenings in advance. If there's no plan today, it's probably because Mr. Tung has some kind of educational film for us."

"Tsk, tsk, tsk..."

Faang Wei clicked his tongue but then reconsidered. After all, these teenagers needed guidance on certain matters to avoid being taken advantage of later on.

That simply wouldn't do!

"Last time, it was about Pan Jinlian's battle with the Black Mountain Demon. They said we should learn from the Black Mountain Demon's agility and Pan Jinlian's Nine Yin White Bone Claw technique to improve our own movement skills."

"???"

Before Faang Wei could process this, Han Dongchuan's comment metaphorically slapped him across the face, prompting an exasperated response —

"What on earth are you talking about?"

"???"

Han Dongchuan looked confused.

"Didn't you demonstrate it on stage last time? Have you forgotten already?"

"???"

Faang Wei's mind was reeling. Glancing at Jumpy on his shoulder, he felt his entire perspective on the world was being challenged.

Is there anyone normal at this school?

Is Mr. Tung just here to stir things up?

Considering their teaching methods, it's a wonder Everdawn Academy has managed to survive for 138 years!

Damn!

Faang Wei fell silent, not wanting to delve into any more eye-watering details. He was keen on preserving his pure heart for a couple more years.

Mr. Tung entered soon after, and it looked like today wasn't a movie day after all, as he came without any equipment. This gave Faang Wei a small sense of relief.

"Alright, students, settle down. We have a different plan for today's outdoor class," Mr. Tung announced, tapping on the desk with a commanding voice.

"We've got a new student joining us, which you're all aware of. So, in honor of their arrival, we're hosting a barbecue party this Friday to give them a warm welcome to our school!"

"…"

...

"…"

Following a brief, intense silence, the air suddenly exploded with cheers so loud they seemed capable of flipping the roof.

Faang Wei couldn't resist using his spiritual energy to shield his ears, feeling as though his eardrums might burst at any moment.

Was it really necessary to get this excited over a barbecue?

Oh, my ears... Why must they endure such hardship?

So harsh!

So harsh!
