C4 You Don't Want Others to Know Your Secret, Do You??
"Due to an unknown reason, you've lost 1 point of Intelligence!"
"Your corpse has vanished, preventing you from reviving temporarily!"
"Unable to revive, you will be forcibly ejected from the Eon Realms. You must wait three hours before logging in again!"
Cai Xukun and several others found themselves as spirits. Just as they were on the verge of reviving, a system alert interrupted them.
Then, darkness overtook their vision!
The system had unceremoniously booted them from the Eon Realms!
The next moment, Cai Xukun bolted upright from his water bed, his face contorted with rage as he bellowed, "Damn it! What's happening? How could my corpse just disappear? I was so close to reviving!"
Their corpses shouldn't have disappeared unless their souls had been separated for an excessively long time, which clearly wasn't the case. They should have been able to re-enter their bodies and revive!
They were intent on seeking vengeance, yet revival eluded them.
Indeed, once players died, their souls were blind to the living, and the living could not perceive those who had become souls.
Hence their current state of bewilderment and fury!
Suddenly, several young men burst through the door!
These were the very individuals who had recently allied with Cai Xukun against Lin Bei!
Like Cai Xukun, they too had been forced offline!
The leader, sweating profusely, cautiously approached Cai Xukun, "Young Master, were you also forced to log out?"
"Shut up!"
"Find out who this One More Life jerk is!"
"I want him dead!"
"I'll burn his bones and scatter his ashes!"
Cai Xukun roared like a lion in a frenzy, "Damn it! He dared to take what's mine! Our forced logout must be his doing!"
The group hastily agreed, ready to spring into action.
But in an instant, they were dumbstruck.
They realized they couldn't recall One More Life's face.
What was happening?
Exchanging terrified glances, they stammered, "We can't remember what he looks like."
"You useless fools! Get out of my sight!" Cai Xukun's rage intensified!
He too couldn't quite recall One More Life's features!
Humiliated and enraged, he grabbed an alien-designed notebook and pulled up the forum.
Furiously typing, he slammed the enter key, posting an edited thread.
He even dropped 50,000 yuan to ensure the thread hit the forum's front page.
"I am Universal Dragon Whistle. I hereby offer a million RMB for the capture of player One More Life! If you know his real-world identity, come forward. A million RMB awaits you! Kill him in-game, send me the video, and you'll earn an instant 100,000 RMB!"
The thread sent shockwaves through the player community.
No one had anticipated such a dramatic turn of events on the Eon Realms' inaugural day.
The hefty bounty from Universal Dragon Whistle left many in disbelief!
Others wondered who had bested Universal Dragon Whistle to the point of prompting such a desperate bounty.
Then, another thread made a sudden appearance!
It didn't rely on money for visibility!
Yet it was equally striking!
"I am One More Life. Some are too hasty. From now on, I'll kill you each time we meet!"
This was no ordinary post!
It included a GIF!
There, the faces of Cai Xukun and his group were blurred, but their names stood out. They were ensnared and burned alive, a harrowing sight.
The three-second GIF laid bare the truth!
My god! It was six against one, and they were utterly crushed. No wonder they were so eager to issue a bounty.
The forum buzzed, and the World Channel erupted with activity!
Many voiced their disdain.
Shameless!
Cai Xukun was livid. He raged, smashing objects and hurling insults in his room, consumed by madness.
He hadn't foreseen One More Life's cunning, recording the video in advance, and now he faced public humiliation and ridicule!
Cai Xukun's fury knew no bounds.
"Curse that man!"
"I will find you! I swear I'll be the one to end you!" he screamed.
Meanwhile, Lin Bei quietly closed the forum thread, a slight smile playing on his lips.
He knew Cai Xukun well and had prepared accordingly.
Lin Bei was not one for empty threats. Should he encounter them again, they would meet their end.
Devouring the corpses of the six had yielded Lin Bei a trove of treasures.
His Charm Rabbit Summoning had leveled up, and his Devour Gene had increased by 0.5 points!
Moreover, Lin Bei's Constitution, Agility, and Intelligence had all risen by 1 point!
All Things Psychic could pilfer certain player attributes, but it could also claim the random attributes of monsters.
Although Lin Bei's attributes had only increased by a single point, it was still an improvement over nothing.
Without hesitation, Lin Bei accessed the Charm Rabbit Summoning panel.
Charm Rabbit Summoning
Quality: Black Iron
Mana Cost: 15 Magical Power Points
Cooldown: After the skill's duration ends or the Charm Rabbit perishes, a 25-second cooldown is initiated.
Description: Upon summoning the Charm Rabbit, its attributes will exceed those on your master panel by 10%. It comes equipped with a group skill, Charm, and a formidable innate talent, Teleportation, both lasting for 70 seconds.
Charm Skill: When one or more targets lock eyes with the Charm Rabbit, they will fall into a five-second trance, becoming puppets at its command. The skill enters a 10-second cooldown after its effect concludes. Additionally, Charm Rabbit can enchant a maximum of eight targets simultaneously. Should there be more than eight, Charm will randomly affect eight among them.
Teleportation Talent: The Charm Rabbit can blink to a location four meters away instantly. This ability has a cooldown of 4 seconds.
Devour Gene Upgrade Requirements: 0.5/2 points
Overall, the Charm Rabbit Summoning's potency has been enhanced, with a reduced cooldown and amplified effects. Moreover, while the Charm Rabbit's attributes were once identical to Lin Bei's, they have now been boosted by 10%!
"Still, Charm has a significant downside. If an enemy avoids the Charm Rabbit's gaze, the skill becomes unusable. It won't take long for others to catch on to this. It looks like I'll need to keep leveling up Charm Rabbit Summoning to potentially refine Charm's capabilities," Lin Bei mused as he made his way back to the village.
Before long, Lin Bei arrived at the village. To steer clear of any unwelcome complications, he concealed his ID. The last thing he needed was to be targeted by bounty hunters.
Lin Bei then positioned himself near a ditch close to the Village Chief's house and lay in wait. As if on cue, he glanced toward an alley and whispered, "Right on time."
As he spoke, a furtive figure emerged from the dilapidated alleyway. Lin Bei's eyes sparkled with anticipation, and a sly grin spread across his face.
"His ID isn't showing?" Lin Bei wondered as he spotted a man ahead. He quickly closed the distance and landed a firm pat on the man's back.
The man jumped, landing squarely on his backside, completely dumbfounded. A second later, his ID materialized.
He was a tomb raider named Lin Sanwan, the very person Lin Bei had been searching for. Lin Bei knew that this NPC had a scroll, unearthed from an ancient grave, which could summon a weakened ancient boss. Not only could Lin Bei effortlessly dispatch Lin Sanwan, but he'd also secure some fine loot.
With a casual smile, Lin Bei crouched beside Lin Sanwan and inquired, "Found anything interesting in the graves lately?"
"How did you know I've been to the graves?" Lin Sanwan's eyes widened as he clamped a hand over his mouth, then blurted out in a fluster, "What are you talking about? I've never been to any graveyard!"
No sooner had he spoken than he scrambled to flee. But Lin Bei chuckled and called out, "You're a grave robber because you fancy the dead, right? How would Widow Wang react if she knew you'd been cozying up to corpses in the grave just recently? Would she chase you through the village with a knife? Lin Sanwan, surely you wouldn't want your secret exposed, would you?"
Anyone witnessing Lin Bei's brazen intimidation of an NPC might have been taken aback, considering the formidable reputation of the NPCs here. The last player who tried such a stunt hadn't yet respawned. But Lin Bei's words were rooted in truth, and this scandal eventually became public knowledge in the Eon Realms. Moreover, Lin Sanwan met his demise not long after. When found by the Village Chief and others, he was half-dressed, sprawled before a female mummy, mouth frothing – irrefutable evidence.
With the truth on his side, Lin Bei had no fear of NPC retaliation. To survive in the Eon Realms, one must possess both acting prowess and boldness. With these two passive skills, you could even spook a specter.
Halting his escape, Lin Sanwan spun around, his eyes wide with terror. "How did you know?" he stammered.
Approaching, Lin Bei replied coolly, "I happened to see it all. Shall I recount what you were up to in vivid detail?"
Lin Sanwan paled, pleading, "No! Don't tell anyone, please. I can't lose Wang Qianqian! I'll give you anything you want, just keep it to yourself."
Lin Bei's intimidation had hit its mark. He leaned in and whispered, "I won't trouble you. I'm not interested in your treasures. Just hand over the scroll, and you're free to go. Your secret's safe with me."
Shaken, Lin Sanwan thought, "Damn it! He couldn't have actually seen everything, could he? How else would he know about the scroll?"
Lin Sanwan, who had been clinging to a thread of hope and contemplating resistance, abandoned the idea in an instant.
With hands shaking, he produced a ragged scroll and pleaded, "Take this! You have to honor your word."
Lin Bei, delighted, quickly accepted the scroll and gave it a cursory look.
However, the moment he registered the contents of the scroll, Lin Bei's face contorted with shock.
