C16 Mysterious Person

"Visit my house without my permission?"

Mu Chen mused internally, an inscrutable expression on his face.

"Why don't we all go?" Zhou Li suggested, gripping Chen Henry's arm tightly, her face flushed with pride. "It's a rare opportunity.

Ordinary people can't just waltz into a Cloud Peak villa. If it weren't for my husband, you wouldn't even get a glimpse of the place."

"That sounds wonderful! I've always wanted to visit."

Lin Yuyan responded, visibly excited.

She had dreamt of living in such a villa since her childhood, and she wasn't about to miss this golden opportunity.

Mu Chen remained silent, deciding to play along. After all, it would be a chance for him to familiarize himself with what was now his property.

Soon, the four arrived at the gated entrance to the Cloud Peak villas.

A middle-aged man with a military bearing paced impatiently near the gate.

"Stay in the car for a moment; I'll go and speak to the property manager," Chen Henry said, looking nonchalant but pleased with himself. "I'll make sure our extra guests are permitted. Given my influence, it shouldn't be a problem."

Zhou Li turned to Mu Chen, who was idly leaning on the steering wheel.

"See that? That's called networking, something successful men do. With your lazy attitude, you'll never experience anything like this."

Mu Chen simply shrugged.

"Networking? Not interested," he replied, his eyes betraying a knowing smile.

Why would he need more connections?

Mu Chen mused. As the unspoken mastermind behind Dragon Gate Palace, commanding immense wealth and influence that even heads of state sought, the idea was almost laughable.

"It's hopeless!"

Zhou Li scoffed, closing her eyes as if unwilling to waste more breath on him.

In her eyes, Mu Chen was as ineffectual as a crumbling wall.

"By the way, if there's anything you don't like when we go in, let me know. We can have it changed. "

Mu Chen suddenly said, turning his gaze toward Lin Yuyan.

Lin Yuyan's face twitched with embarrassment, pretending not to hear him.

Change things?

As if he owned the place?

Zhou Li's sneer grew wider at Mu Chen's audacity.

Minutes later, they were through the gate, walking leisurely into the exclusive area.

"Stay close and don't touch anything," Chen Henry instructed sternly.

"Every plant here is extraordinarily expensive—damaging even one would be something you couldn't afford."

Lin Yuyan and Zhou Li nodded, taking his warning seriously, oblivious to the irony that the man they were belittling actually owned the property they were so careful not to disturb.

Mu Chen's face remained impassive, even a bit amused.

Why such caution in his own property?

"Wow! It's like stepping into a fairyland, with the flowers and the birdsong,"

Zhou Li exclaimed, visibly awestruck by the scenic beauty surrounding them.

"Absolutely, every corridor, every patch of grass, and every intricate carving is simply mesmerizing. It's a work of art."

Lin Yuyan chimed in, breathing deeply as if to capture the essence of the place. Her eyes sparkled, making her already beautiful face radiant.

"All thanks to my darling here. Without him, you might never have had the chance to set foot in a place like this in your entire life."

Zhou Li boasted, clinging to Chen Henry's arm.

"It's all about having the right connections."

Chen Henry puffed up his chest, clearly proud.

"Love, what do you think of this place?"

Mu Chen asked, turning to Lin Yuyan.

He couldn't help but think how her joy would multiply manifold when she found out she was the true mistress of this so-called fairyland.

"I love it," Lin Yuyan replied, her smile so luminous it seemed she'd stepped out of a painting.

Mu Chen looked around,

slightly stunned by his surroundings, while Chen Henry couldn't help but salivate.

"How could that good-for-nothing Mu Chen marry such a celestial woman?"

Chen Henry muttered, casting an envious glance at Mu Chen.

However, that glance almost made him jump out of his skin when he saw Mu Chen daringly step onto the grass.

"Are you deaf, Mu Chen? Didn't you hear me say not to touch anything?

Have you grown tired of living?"

Chen Henry’s voice was tinged with nervous rage.

Panic coursed through him; if anything were to be ruined, he couldn't compensate for it even if he sold all he owned.

"Aiya, Yuyan, control your useless husband!"

"Mu Chen, you good-for-nothing, get off that grass this instant! If not, I'll have security throw you out. No respect for rules here!"

Zhou Li chimed in, hands on her waist, oozing authority.

"Throw me out? Really?"

Mu Chen couldn't help but chuckle.

So what if he stepped on the grass?

He scanned the opulent villa around him. 'I'd like to see who in this cloud-high villa would dare lay a finger on me!'

"Remember, you're not even allowed to jump in like an excited dog without my darling's permission!"

Zhou Li looked at Mu Chen disdainfully and declared.

Mu Chen was about to retort, but when he saw Lin Yuyan's smile fade away, he thought better of it.

Shrugging his shoulders, he followed the group as they descended to the first floor of the luxurious villa.

"The villas on Cloud Peak are divided into several tiers, each with four buildings. The tallest one is known as 'Monarch Descends the World,' where an incredibly powerful individual is said to reside.

Thanks to my connections, we've been granted access to the first floor. However, let me make it clear: don't speak up, and don't touch anything. Mu Chen, if you screw up, you better not drag us down with you."

Chen Henry turned to the group, his eyes lingering on Mu Chen as he spoke.

"Oh, really? If you're so well-connected, Cousin, surely you must know that all the top-tier villas have been purchased by a single mysterious individual?"

Mu Chen smirked and replied.
