C2 The Holy Body Youth(2)

Ultimately, Yeh Yulin couldn't stand by and watch a young girl be savagely torn apart by the enraged Single-horn Wolf.

He decided to intervene!

"Aooo!"

The Single-horn Wolf emitted a deep growl, its breath reeking of blood as it charged at the girl.

"Ah!" The girl screamed, covering her head with her hands and shutting her eyes tight.

"Someone, please save me. I'll give anything to whoever can save me," she thought desperately.

"Aooo!"

The wolf's howl echoed again, this time filled with pain.

Expecting to be attacked, the girl cautiously opened her eyes, only to be shocked to see a young man standing before her.

He was a slender youth dressed in plain white, slightly younger than her, probably sixteen or seventeen, with the handsome features of a prince. His black hair shimmered subtly, brimming with vitality, a testament to his robust life force. Clutching a metal rod, he faced the Single-horn Wolf with a grave look.

The sight took the girl's breath away, and she clung to this glimmer of hope, crying out frantically, "Save me, save me! I have money. I'll give you anything if you save me. I'm a noble, a noble..."

Yeh Yulin paid no attention to the girl, automatically tuning out her pleas.

Who she was didn't matter to him. He was a First Grade Battle Soldier, not even daring to challenge a Third Grade Battle Soldier, let alone be distracted by a wounded Single-horn Wolf.

"Hey, you big oaf, stop picking on the girl. If you're so tough, try taking me on!" Yeh Yulin taunted the Single-horn Wolf with a hooked finger and a cold smirk.

Devil Beasts grow smarter with each level. High Level Devil Beasts could even surpass humans in intelligence. Though the Single-horn Wolf was merely a Level-2 Devil Beast, it understood Yeh Yulin's challenge.

With an angry bellow, it charged directly at Yeh Yulin.

"Ah!" The girl let out a piercing scream, for Yeh Yulin stood directly in front of her, creating a straight line that made her mistakenly believe the Single-horn Wolf was charging at her. Panicked, she scrambled to her feet and took off running.

Yeh Yulin took off as well.

He had no intention of clashing with the Single-horn Wolf; he had a trap set and waiting for it. What irked Yeh Yulin was that the girl was running in the same direction as him, and at a frustratingly slow pace. At this rate, it wouldn't take long for her to be overtaken, and the Single-horn Wolf would not hesitate to make a meal of her.

"How irritating!" Yeh Yulin muttered under his breath. If the girl had stayed put, he could have diverted the wolf's attention from her. But her running forced him to change his tactics.

"It's not too far now!" Yeh Yulin gauged the distance to his trap and, with a determined grit of his teeth, dashed behind the girl and scooped her up in his arms.

"Ah, let me go, let me go! Don't feed me to the wolf. I'm a noble, a noble! If you harm me, my family will have your head!" Overcome with terror, the girl was delirious, thrashing and screaming wildly in Yeh Yulin's embrace.

Her violent movements nearly made Yeh Yulin lose his footing, and he almost tumbled to the ground with her. He narrowly dodged a swipe from the Single-horn Wolf's claw, which left his clothing shredded.

"Damn it!" In that moment, Yeh Yulin was sorely tempted to toss the girl to the pursuing Single-horn Wolf.

But he held back.

They had reached the trap zone!

Yeh Yulin paid no mind to the girl's protests. Clutching her tightly, he focused intently on the ground, carefully selecting where to place his feet as he ran.

The Single-horn Wolf continued its frenzied pursuit, its roars echoing behind them. Blessed with innate wind abilities, it had a natural speed advantage.

Yet Yeh Yulin, with physical capabilities far beyond the average person and the Spiritual Force of a High Level Battle Soldier, was no easy prey, even for an injured Single-horn Wolf. Without its injury, Yeh Yulin might already have been caught.

However, he was also carrying a young girl, an unprecedented burden during his past encounters with Single-horn Wolves, making it inevitable that he would soon be overtaken.

The girl finally understood that Yeh Yulin wasn't intending to sacrifice her to the wolf, but rather to rescue her. Realizing the gravity of their predicament, she clung to Yeh Yulin with a vice-like grip, fearing he might abandon her if they were about to be caught.

Her tight embrace only made Yeh Yulin's escape more arduous, further reducing his speed and fueling his frustration to the point where he nearly wanted to throttle her.

Thankfully, the ordeal was nearing its end.

Yeh Yulin could see the large tree ahead with the rope he had stashed among its branches.

"This is it!"

With a burst of speed, Yeh Yulin leaped, narrowly dodging the Single-horn Wolf's lunge. He seized the rope and began to glide through the air. As the rope bore his weight, it started to retract.

The Single-horn Wolf, unable to glide, was left to crash onto the ground.

As Yeh Yulin appeared to soar, the wolf's menacing visage couldn't even transition to another expression before being overwhelmed by excruciating pain. Its bloodied teeth chattered, and a frenzied howl erupted from its throat.

It collapsed uncontrollably, writhing on the ground, ensnared by a massive beast trap that had clamped onto its foreleg.

"Caught you!" Yeh Yulin slid to his calculated spot and landed, turning to face the Single-horn Wolf with a cold smirk. "How does it feel to be caught in a three-hundred-kilogram beast trap? If it didn't snap your wolf claws, you're tough. But sadly for you, this is the end!"

"I've coated the trap with various substances. Some intensify pain, ensuring you're too agonized to stand, while others are lethal poisons. Even a Devil Beast wouldn't last long. Rest in peace!"

With a series of roars, the Single-horn Wolf continued to bellow and thrash about. As Yeh Yulin had predicted, the pain was so severe it couldn't stand, yet it still managed to roll in agony.

Unfortunately, it collided with another trap, its hind leg caught in a vice-like grip.

"I'm really sorry!" Yeh Yulin said coolly, standing aside. "Concerned you might evade that one, I set up over ten around here. They're everywhere, ensuring you'd get caught."

"Wuwu!"

The Single-horn Wolf paid no heed to Yeh Yulin, continuing to howl wildly. But its voice grew fainter, its struggles weaker, its body trembling with unrelenting pain.

At last, it ceased its struggles.

"It's over!" Yeh Yulin let out a quiet sigh of relief and placed the girl, who had stopped struggling, on the ground, his movements far from tender.

Had it not been for this girl, his plan would have unfolded more smoothly, flawlessly so. But her unexpected involvement nearly cost him everything. It would be odd if he were in a pleasant mood.

Yet, the girl seemed unfazed by his demeanor. Her gaze fixed intently on Yeh Yulin, particularly on the badge adorning his chest. Her eyes ignited with fervor, her tone of voice betraying her excitement.

"Young Master, are you a member of the No-falling Night Clan?"
