C3 The Snobbish Girl!

The Yeh Family?

The No-falling Night Clan?

Yeh Yulin's expression turned icy. As he approached the corpse of the Single-horn Wolf, he said coolly, "This is the time for gratitude, not for asking nonsensical questions, especially not to the one who has just saved you."

The Single-horn Wolf, indeed, every Devil Beast, was a trove of treasures.

Take the Single-horn Wolf, for instance: its horn could be crafted into high-grade weaponry, its fur into leather armor, and even its least valuable meat could fetch a handsome price.

This was precisely why Yeh Yulin hunted the Single-horn Wolf.

He was in need of money.

Yeh Yulin came from a respectable background, but sadly, as someone incapable of cultivating, he was seen as an irritant by his family, to the extent that he had to fend for himself even for basic living expenses.

"Young Master, Young Master!"

Kong Yaer paid no mind to Yeh Yulin's demeanor. She hurried after him, her face alight with a sweet smile, though her eyes betrayed a glint of ambition.

"Thank you for saving me. I am Kong Yaer, and I have no way to repay you. Please..."

"Don't bother me—that would be thanks enough!" Yeh Yulin cut her off, clearly annoyed. He inspected the Single-horn Wolf's body, then contentedly secured it, stuffing it into a large sack he had brought along. He hoisted it onto his shoulder, ready to depart.

Kong Yaer was taken aback, not expecting such a dismissive attitude from Yeh Yulin, but she followed him nonetheless.

"Young Master, Young Master..."

"What exactly do you want?" Yeh Yulin asked, visibly irritated by the girl who wouldn't stop following him and talking.

"Young Master, all my guards are dead!" Kong Yaer realized that her charms were ineffective and swiftly shifted her approach, adopting a woeful tone: "I can't defend myself. What if I encounter wild beasts or bandits here? Are you going to just stand by and watch me die?"

Yeh Yulin's lips tightened with impatience.

"Why not be a true gentleman and escort me to No-falling City?" she suggested, stepping closer to grasp Yeh Yulin's hand, pressing her ample bosom against his arm and occasionally rubbing it for emphasis.

Yeh Yulin's brow furrowed slightly. He understood exactly why the girl was acting this way—it was all because of the badge on his chest, the emblem of the Yeh Family, and not out of any sense of gratitude or fanciful love at first sight.

The Yeh Family stood as a symbol of prestige and authority, with countless individuals yearning for even the slightest connection to them.

Yet, she wasn't entirely mistaken. The forests near No-falling City, while sparse with Devil Beasts and devoid of bandits, were teeming with wild animals, particularly wolves. Leaving her here could very well mean her demise, rendering his recent rescue futile.

Since he was headed back to the city anyway, it wouldn't be too much trouble to take her along...

"Alright," Yeh Yulin agreed, his tone indifferent. "I can take you to the city, but you must keep a distance of one meter from me."

"No problem!" Kong Yaer accepted eagerly. To her, a bit of arrogance from a member of the Yeh Family seemed perfectly normal. Besides, given the opportunity, she was confident in her ability to charm even a young upstart like him.

Lacking the talent for cultivation, Kong Yaer had devoted her time to mastering the art of seduction, all with the goal of marrying into a high-status family. Although Yeh Yulin didn't appear to be from a wealthy clan, the empire was well aware of the Yeh Family's formidable martial prowess. It was possible that this man before her was a zealot dedicated to his training.

However, there was also the chance that a desperate fugitive might impersonate a member of the Yeh Family, so she needed to probe further.

"My name is Kong Yaer, daughter of Kong Nian, a second-grade viscount of the empire," she introduced herself, revealing her aristocratic status while fixing her gaze on Yeh Yulin to gauge his reaction.

Internally, Yeh Yulin scoffed. So she was the offspring of a second-grade viscount—no wonder Kong Yaer was so eager.

In the empire, the hierarchy of nobility started with the king, followed by dukes, marquises, earls, viscounts, and barons. Although the rank of viscount wasn't the lowest, in the vast empire, they were as common as can be, and Kong Nian was merely a second-grade among them.

To put it bluntly, if Kong Yaer managed to ingratiate herself with a member of the Yeh Family, it's possible that Kong Nian would be promoted to a first-grade viscount overnight.

Sadly, Kong Yaer had set her sights on the wrong person.

Yeh Yulin was not only disinterested in her, but he was also incapable of offering her any assistance.

He was struggling to protect himself!

Yet, Kong Yaer refused to see it that way. Yeh Yulin's cold response to her noble status only fueled her excitement, as if she had verified his identity. She pulled out all the stops along the way, much to Yeh Yulin's great annoyance.

She even coyly suggested finding a water source to bathe.

At times, Yeh Yulin contemplated whether he should dispose of her before dealing with his own problems!

But that was just a fleeting thought. He found it difficult to be interested in such a mercenary woman.

The No-falling Forest was a mere dozen miles from No-falling City—a trivial distance for a Cultivator, but for an ordinary person like Kong Yaer, it seemed much farther.

Nevertheless, Yeh Yulin noticed that Kong Yaer's vigor in attempting to seduce him was astonishingly relentless. Despite her constant complaints of fatigue and pitiful pleas for rest, she never ceased her flirtatious antics during their breaks.

Yeh Yulin found her antics more exhausting than slaying another Single-horn Wolf.

"I truly am a member of the Yeh Family, but I'm not favored there. Your efforts are pointless."

Kong Yaer, of course, didn't believe Yeh Yulin—or rather, she chose to believe only the part where he admitted his lineage. Her response was simple.

"What are you saying, Young Master Yeh? Yaer doesn't understand a thing!"

"Then let's keep moving."

No-falling City was already in sight. Yeh Yulin's only wish was to get this woman to the city quickly and then vanish from her life.

So, when Kong Yaer claimed she was too exhausted to walk any further, he simply picked her up and dashed towards their destination.

Initially, Kong Yaer was thrilled, wriggling and panting softly in Yeh Yulin's arms, trying to entice him. But when she realized that he remained unresponsive, focused only on the journey, she began to question her own allure and whether Yeh Yulin was even interested in women.

She had no idea what Yeh Yulin had been through, nor could she fathom the extent of his resolve.

"We've arrived!" As they approached within five hundred meters of No-falling City, Yeh Yulin set Kong Yaer down and strode toward the city gate, carrying the corpse of the Single-horn Wolf.

The gate was small, a side entrance to No-falling City, guarded by dozens of soldiers. It was an exclusive passage for the Yeh Family disciples, intended to facilitate their training expeditions.

Kong Yaer couldn't pass through this gate, but she could surely locate one of the four main gates along the city walls. This would also make it easier for him to shake her off.

"Wait, wait, Young Master Yeh!" Kong Yaer called out, her anxiety overriding her fatigue as she jogged to keep up with Yeh Yulin, matching his pace.

Yeh Yulin, however, was out of patience and had already resolved to make a quick escape after passing the city gate's inspection. Being in this woman's company was proving to be far too perilous.

Unbeknownst to him, at the city gate stood a young man in opulent attire, observing him with a sardonic air. The sight of a girl trailing behind Yeh Yulin brought out a cruel smirk on the young man's face.

His look was that of a cat that had caught a mouse, intent on toying with its prey before the final pounce.
