C5 Ungrateful!!
"Ah!"
Yeh Yulin let out a roar and aimed a punch at Yeh Haishan's face.
But Yeh Haishan effortlessly caught his fist and countered with a swift punch to Yeh Yulin's face.
With a resounding thud, Yeh Yulin was sent flying.
"What's the matter, bastard?" Yeh Haishan bellowed with laughter, looking down at Yeh Yulin with contempt. "Weren't you shouting with such gusto a moment ago?"
Yeh Yulin picked himself up and charged at Yeh Haishan once more.
"Oh, oh!" Yeh Haishan exclaimed with amusement, his laugh chilling, "You're full of energy today. Good, let's see how many hits you can take."
"Bang!"
Yeh Yulin was struck again, hurled to the ground with force, but he quickly got to his feet, unsteady but determined to keep fighting.
"Not bad, keep it up."
"Bang!"
"Come on! Give me a good laugh!"
"Bang!"
Yeh Yulin, as a Holy Body and a Level One Battle Soldier, possessed speed and strength that far exceeded his rank. But Yeh Haishan was a formidable Level Five Battle Soldier. The gap of four levels between them was not something Yeh Yulin's physical advantages could compensate for.
"Bang!"
After enduring numerous punishing blows, Yeh Yulin lay trembling on the ground, struggling to rise.
"Humph!" Yeh Haishan looked down at him with a smirk, shaking his head as if disappointed by the lackluster challenge. His gaze then shifted to Kong Yaer.
"Are you this loser's woman? How unusual. He actually has a woman?"
"No, no, I'm not his woman," Kong Yaer quickly denied, her eyes on the humiliated Yeh Yulin. She realized that although he was part of the Yeh Family, his status was pitifully low. Associating with him would bring her no benefits, only trouble. She knew she had to keep her distance.
"How did you two end up together?"
Kong Yaer hesitated, searching for the right words to respond to Yeh Haishan.
"What's the matter?" Yeh Haishan narrowed his eyes and sneered, "Is there something you're hesitant to say?"
Observing Yeh Yulin struggling on the ground, unable to even stand, and then glancing at the brooding Yeh Haishan, Kong Yaer finally mustered her courage and stepped forward. She approached Yeh Haishan with tears in her eyes and pleaded, "Young Master of the Yeh Family, I beg you to take my side! This man is not just a thief; he's a villain as well."
Yeh Haishan was taken aback, his companions were equally shocked, and the Battle Soldiers around them were just as surprised.
Yeh Yulin turned his head, incredulous, staring at Kong Yaer.
What on earth was she saying?
He was a thief, a villain?
But Kong Yaer ignored him, her eyes beseeching Yeh Haishan, as though she were genuinely seeking rescue.
"How amusing!" Yeh Haishan burst into laughter, his interest piqued as he asked, "What exactly are you implying? Are you not aware that the man sprawled on the ground is also a Young Master of the Yeh Family?"
Hearing the joy and biting irony in Yeh Haishan's voice, Kong Yaer realized her gamble had paid off. She cried out, her face etched with sorrow and outrage, "Even if they are all Young Masters of the Yeh Family, there must be a hierarchy of honor. Surely they cannot stoop to being thieves and villains!"
Hierarchy of honor?
Yeh Yulin's breathing intensified.
This opportunistic woman...
Yeh Haishan, still smiling, said, "Indeed, the Young Masters of the Yeh Family must not behave improperly. If a prince breaks the law, he faces the same punishment as any commoner. So, tell me, how exactly did Yeh Yulin become a thief and a villain?"
The Battle Soldiers around them looked on with curious expressions.
Kong Yaer, her face a picture of utter despair, pointed at Yeh Yulin and declared, "This man not only stole the corpse of my Devil Beast, but he also tried to coerce me into becoming his woman. If that's not the behavior of a thief and a villain, what is?"
"A Single-horn Wolf?" Yeh Haishan was taken aback. Even for him, slaying a Single-horn Wolf was no easy feat. He instinctively inquired, "How did you manage to kill a Single-horn Wolf?"
"I am Kong Yaer, daughter of the second-grade Viscount Kong Nian!" she stated, her voice devoid of pride. She knew that to the Yeh Family, her father's viscountcy meant little, especially to the young man before her who held no title at all.
"Even though I'm just an ordinary person, I have guards. Almost all of my guards died just to kill the Single-horn Wolf. And at that moment, this man leapt out, snatched the corpse of my Devil Beast, and then he forced me, he forced me..."
Kong Yaer was in tears, and Yeh Yulin's face contorted with rage, nearly at the point of bursting.
He felt an overwhelming impulse to rip this woman apart.
Yeh Haishan sneered with contempt.
He wasn't the only one who doubted her story; none of the Yeh Family youths surrounding them believed her either.
Yeh Yulin might be considered the family's black sheep, but aside from his lack of progress in cultivation, he had never been known for any underhanded deeds. No matter how much you coerced or humiliated him, he wouldn't stoop to such actions.
This deprived Yeh Haishan and the others of their amusement.
But he wouldn't admit that. Instead, he relished playing along with this drama, especially given the soldiers' peculiar stares and Yeh Yulin's menacing expression. It brought him even more joy.
To have pushed the usually unyielding Yeh Yulin to such a state of fury, Kong Yaer had shown herself to be quite formidable.
"What proof do you have?" Yeh Haishan asked with a mocking grin, looking at the livid Yeh Yulin.
"The bag on his back contains the corpse of my Single-horn Wolf," Kong Yaer asserted.
"Let's have a look then!" Yeh Haishan approached Yeh Yulin, who had just risen to his feet, and with a swift punch, sent him flying. He then seized the backpack from Yeh Yulin's back.
Upon opening it, the massive corpse of the Single-horn Wolf was revealed.
Yeh Haishan could tell a lot from the wounds, particularly the vicious marks of a beast trap and the subtle darkening of the fur.
"It was killed with a large beast trap and poison!"
Yeh Haishan chuckled, then proclaimed loudly, "There are many sword wounds; it's clear the beast was killed in a group attack. Yeh Yulin, as a member of the Yeh Family, to commit such an act is a disgrace to our lineage."
Watching Yeh Haishan's display of moral indignation, Yeh Yulin's fists tightened, his nails digging into his skin, his eyes piercing with a cold, steely gaze.
These two scoundrels were indeed a match made in hell—one repaid kindness with betrayal, the other was shameless to the core.
"You disagree?" Yeh Haishan mocked with a cold laugh. "You're an embarrassment to the Yeh Family. But it's hardly surprising, given the tainted blood that runs through your veins."
Tainted blood?
"Thump! Thump!"
Yeh Yulin's pupils shrank to pinpoints in an instant, and he could hear his own heart pounding violently.
Surrounded by the jeers of the Yeh Family's disciples and the scornful, contemptuous looks from the city guards...
It dawned on Yeh Yulin that his weakness was the root of it all.
"Hahaha, hahaha!"
He laughed—a laugh that was deep and resonant.
A laugh that bordered on madness.
A laugh that was tinged with hysteria.
Beneath such laughter, Kong Yaer felt an inexplicable fear grip her, causing her body to shake uncontrollably.
Yeh Haishan, too, felt a disconcerting unease. His cheek twitched. Whether it was his imagination or not, he sensed a transformation within Yeh Yulin.
"You still find it in you to laugh after what you've done?"
"Indeed, have I done such a thing?" Yeh Yulin struggled to his feet, still laughing as he faced Yeh Haishan. "Then, by all means, take me to the family's Punishment Pavilion!"
At those words, Yeh Haishan's expression solidified into a mask of shock.
