C8 War Against the Desolate
A faint, crimson aura clung to their bodies. Over the years, the Devil Subduing Army had claimed the lives of nearly ten million members of the Demon Clan. Above their heads, blood-red clouds had formed, the very iron-blooded demonic aura needed to cultivate the Martial Army Soul. Bathed in the blood of countless demons, the aura had grown so dense it was nearly tangible.
As Ye Fann surveyed the Devil Subduing Army behind him, he was struck by the sensation of having honed his blade for a decade. He could sense the change; after years of refinement, the Devil Subduing Army had merged into a singular, unified force. Commanding them was like directing his own limbs, effortless and precise. All that was missing was the right moment to merge these ten thousand-strong formations into a single ten-thousand-man phalanx, from which the true Devil Subduing Army Soul would emerge.
The Demon Kings, each at the Golden Immortal Stage, were now deeply unsettled by the Army's campaigns. In a bid for self-preservation, they had banded together. Ye Fann's objective was clear: he aimed to confront the demon horde led by several Golden Immortal Demon Kings. He planned to harness the immense pressure of these Demon Kings to fully solidify the Devil Subduing Army Soul.
At Demon Mountain, the majestic peaks soared like swords into the heavens, spanning thousands of miles. The Demon Clan's population here, originally in the hundreds of thousands, had swelled to over two million as three nearby clans converged. Among them were four or five demons of the Golden Immortal Stage, a formidable force that few dared challenge.
Yet today, a Demon Soldier on lookout spotted a foreboding sight: a vast, dark cloud approaching from the horizon. Atop this cloud rode an army of Heavenly Soldiers clad in uniform armor, their chilling presence and sharp spears casting a cold pall over the sky. The blood-red banner, emblazoned with the word "Demon" as if stained by the blood of thousands, fluttered menacingly in the wind. A palpable killing intent emanated from them, sending shivers through the demons who felt as if they were being pricked by needles even from a distance.
The large banner, fluttering in the wind, bore the blood-red characters for "Devil Subduing," which seemed to capture the soul. It was as if it had been dyed with the blood of ten thousand demons, exuding a thick aura of murderous intent. Just the sight of it from a distance caused the demons to feel as if they were being pricked by needles, their very souls trembling uncontrollably. They had gathered together to avoid the onslaught of the Devil Subduing Army, never expecting that the army would still find them.
The clear, resonant sound of a bell echoed through the mountains and valleys, stirring the demons into action like a disturbed nest of ants. In an instant, an uncountable number of demons emerged, their dense demonic energy shooting into the sky and causing the heavens and earth to change color.
"Devil Subduing Army!" The sight of the war banner, fluttering like waves in the fierce wind, sent a shudder through the hearts of many demons, filling them with an inexplicable sense of panic. Over the years, the Devil Subduing Army's campaigns had always resulted in swift and decisive victories, instilling fear in the hearts of many demons.
"What are we afraid of? We have two million of our kin here, and four or five Kings at the Golden Immortal Stage. They are merely the Devil Subduing Army of ten thousand. What is there to fear?" Amidst the growing anxiety, several Demon Generals at the Genuine Immortal Stage stepped forward and rebuked their ranks. Their words gradually eased the unease among the demons.
Ye Fann, clad in black armor and a red robe, stood before the innumerable demons without uttering a word. With a clang, he drew the Devil Subduing Sword from his waist and brandished it forward. "Kill!" His roar shook the heavens and earth, a single word igniting the battle spirit within the Devil Subduing Army. Without hesitation, they formed ten formidable formations and dove from the sky.
In their hearts, Ye Fann was akin to a deity. With just one command from him, they would charge into a mountain of blades or a sea of flames without a second thought. In mere moments, the ten great formations of the Devil Subduing Army clashed with the countless demons, who wielded various weapons and some even transformed into gigantic forms, hundreds or thousands of meters tall, as they charged at the Devil Subduing Army's formations.
In their hearts, Ye Fann was a deity.
He was always a god, wasn't he?
At his command, they would rush into a sea of flames or a mountain of blades without a moment's hesitation.
In just an instant, the ten formations of the Devil Subduing Army collided with the overwhelming forces of the demon clan.
Countless demons, wielding various weapons or transforming into their colossal true forms of hundreds or thousands of feet tall, charged at the Devil Subduing Army's formation.
All kinds of divine abilities erupted in an instant.
Brilliant Divine Light, weapons glinting with cold light, and frenzied assaults on the Devil Subduing Army's formation.
Battle cries thundered through the heavens.
In the blink of an eye, over ten thousand demons were wiped out.
Blood instantly soaked the mountaintop red.
The battle was fiercely intense.
Despite the demons' ferocious onslaught, the Devil Subduing Army stood united as one.
Their collective strength, amplified by the formation, burst forth simultaneously.
The attacks they endured were also diminished by the formation.
After being partially absorbed by their armor, the remaining force was evenly distributed among each soldier. The numerous demons, not yet at the Genuine Immortal Stage, posed no threat to the Devil Subduing Army's formation.
"You're courting death!"
A terrifying roar thundered across the clear sky.
A demonic aura, as deep and vast as the ocean, surged heavenward.
The Demon King at the Golden Immortal Stage had been roused.
A Giant Rhinoceros, tens of thousands of feet tall, emerged.
Its surging demonic aura instantly cast a shadow over the land.
The Giant Rhinoceros's body was immense, akin to a towering mountain.
As it shook its limbs, the mountains and valleys roared in response.
Countless mountains crumbled.
The Giant Rhinoceros kicked up a ferocious Strong Wind, charging toward the Devil Subduing Army's formation with unstoppable force.
Demons caught in its path were crushed into a bloody pulp beneath its iron hooves.
The power of this Demon King was truly terrifying, nearly impossible to withstand.
Yet the Devil Subduing Army remained unfazed, methodically reaping the lives of surrounding demons with the precision of a meat grinder.
Every second, hundreds of demons fell.
"Rumble..."
Despite the Giant Rhinoceros's immense size, its speed was astonishing.
In just a few short moments...
The Giant Rhinoceros was bearing down on the frontline of the Devil Subduing Formation.
The horns, stretching thousands of feet in length, gleamed like a pristine heavenly blade. With the formidable Power of The Body, the Giant Rhinoceros was a force to be reckoned with. Few at the Golden Immortal Stage could endure its might, let alone the Devil Subduing Formation, which possessed merely the combat prowess of a Genuine Immortal. A direct hit would spell certain doom.
Suddenly, a piercing screech shattered the air. A streak of black light, akin to a plummeting meteor, descended from the heavens and struck the Giant Rhinoceros with immense force. "Bam!" The impact sent a powerful shockwave rippling through the area. The behemoth bellowed in agony as it was hurled a million feet across the landscape, flattening mountains and lakes in its wake. The Demon Clan onlookers were stunned, their minds reeling from the sight of this inconceivable event.
In stark contrast to the Giant Rhinoceros's colossal form, Ye Fann's figure seemed minuscule. Yet, his seemingly insignificant stature had just launched the Golden Immortal Stage Demon King, the Giant Rhinoceros, into the air.
"Thud!" The hide of the Giant Rhinoceros was as tough as the highest grade of spiritual artifacts, resistant to damage. Despite Ye Fann's potent and weighty blow, the creature sustained little harm. It roared, rising to its feet once more, shaking off chunks of earth and stone from its massive frame.
With eyes as vast as lakes and bloodshot with rage, the Giant Rhinoceros fixed its gaze on Ye Fann. "Thump! Thump! Thump!" Without resorting to any divine abilities, it summoned all its strength for another charge, barreling straight toward Ye Fann with renewed fury.
