C17 Miraculous Revival!(1)
Chen Ye quickly tallied the horde of undead monsters trailing him—there were about two to three dozen. However, after the initial brief spell of chaos, he steadied himself and scouted a few special units in the horde that he had never encountered before, promptly gathering pertinent information.
Bloody Beast: The frenzied Blood Mage not only sacrifices warriors of their own kind but also uses dark magic to sacrifice even mightier beasts. This allows them to wield greater power, with a health pool of 500/500, and abilities like Roar, Shock, and Bloody Massacre.
Blood Mage Sacrificer: The minions cultivated by the nefarious Blood Mage leaders, these creatures sustain their prolonged lifespans through the vitality of blood sacrifices. Over the eons, their consciousness may have eroded, but their spirit remains, enabling them to cast simple arcane spells. They have 200/200 health, 300/300 Mana, and can use abilities like Blood Curse Shield, Bloody Control, and Bloody Corpse Revival.
Among them, a three-meter-tall zombie covered in fur was known as the Bloody Beast. Its formidable build was akin to that of a bear, particularly daunting due to its robust vitality. Chen Ye didn't even entertain the thought of engaging it in combat. Instead, the remaining Bloody Warriors, childlike in comparison, clustered around a diminutive Blood Mage Sacrificer.
As the Blood Mage Sacrificer grew increasingly frantic from the prolonged chase, he brandished a thick wooden staff, and a ring of blood-red light flickered around him. Chen Ye distinctly sensed a transformation within the pursuing undead; their movements quickened, and the gap he had struggled to widen started to close.
With growing composure, Chen Ye deliberately slowed his pace, biding his time until the undead were within ten meters. Just as they reached the effective range of the Bloody Warrior's pounce, Chen Ye spun around and targeted a Bloody Beast, his weapon—the Guard of Honor—erupting in a blaze of fiery light: "Explosive Sniper"!
Explosive Sniper: Every 12 hours, this ability condenses an explosive bullet, with a cap of three. Effective up to 20 meters, the bullet inflicts 500 points of fire damage upon impact and sends a shockwave causing 200 points of physical damage within a 30-meter radius. The formidable recoil propels the shooter back in a straight line for 10 meters.
"Boom!" A thunderous blast echoed as Chen Ye clutched his firearm, bracing for the staggering recoil he had anticipated, yet the force exceeded his expectations. A sharp pain struck his chest as he was hurled backward, tumbling end over end, narrowly evading the Explosive Sniper's shockwave. Ignoring the intense pain, Chen Ye quickly retrieved an M-1 grenade and lobbed it at another weakened Bloody Beast. Following a burst of flames, the surrounding Bloody Warriors collapsed en masse, as if their souls had been siphoned away.
M-1 Grenade: Standard issue in the U.S. military, this weapon inflicts 300 points of fire damage at the blast site and radiates 100 points of physical damage within an unobstructed 10-meter radius.
In the midst of the horde of undead, one creature stood alone, the tattered Blood Mage, perhaps shielded by the "Blood Curse Shield." A translucent red film flickered around him before bursting. Chen Ye used his scouting ability again, revealing that the creature's Mana had been depleted. Without Mana, the Blood Mage seemed to lose all aggression, standing there dazed.
Chen Ye's heart sank as he had exhausted two of his most potent area-of-effect skills and items. Unsure of how to proceed with the Blood Mage still standing, he remained in combat mode, unable to replenish his supplies. However, the sight of six white chests on the ground lifted his spirits.
Chen Ye picked up the white chests, cast aside his Guard of Honor, and donned the Bloodthirster. He charged at the Blood Mage, stabbing furiously. The creatures within the Blood Mage's secret lair were indeed a cut above those outside. The Bloodthirster, with a sharpness value of 50 points, could only inflict 30 points of damage on the Blood Mage. Yet, its "Bloodthirst (Passive)" ability kicked in, restoring 9 points of his health. As the Blood Mage neared defeat, a deep breath was heard, and with a swing of his crude wooden staff, the nearly obliterated Bloody Warrior eerily reassembled and rose once more—a resurrection from the blood!
"Damn!" Chen Ye's head nearly exploded with shock. Without a second thought, he abandoned the Blood Mage and charged at the still-recovering Bloody Warrior. With a light leap, he delivered a horizontal slash to what seemed like its neck. Landing and rolling away, he braced for a counterattack that never came. Looking up, he saw the Bloody Warrior had collapsed once more.
Chen Ye couldn't resist checking his notifications, a smile spreading across his face. After a series of alerts for Buddha points, an unexpected notification popped up, awarding him 20 Buddha points. His last strike had instantly slain the Bloody Warrior.
Chen Ye quickly realized that the living corpse resurrected by the Blood Mage wasn't in prime condition; its health points were likely not fully restored. Thus, when the Bloodthirster's "Throat Slash" was activated, it managed to inflict enough damage to kill the adversary once more. As luck would have it, a blue treasure chest spawned right beside the Bloody Beast.
The earlier "Explosive Sniper" and "M1 Grenade" had failed to yield any treasure chests, but the resurrected Bloody Beast surprisingly dropped one. Chen Ye sensed he might have stumbled upon something remarkable. Observing the Blood Mage, now standing idly with depleted Mana, he found himself growing increasingly fond of the creature.
Chen Ye didn't rush to dispatch the Blood Mage. Instead, he waited for it to regain its Mana and perform "Blood Corpse Revival" again. After an hour and seven Bloody Beasts later, only two had dropped a blue treasure chest each, and then no more appeared. Chen Ye nodded, gaining insight into some of the world's mechanics: it seemed each unit could only drop one treasure chest.
He moved the monsters that had already dropped a treasure chest far enough away from the Blood Mage and continued his grind for another three hours. Once every Bloody Warrior had dropped a white treasure chest, he unhesitatingly finished off the Blood Mage, who, unfortunately, dropped no chest. Chen Ye bore no grudge; the diligent Blood Mage had toiled for four hours straight, not only accruing over 600 Buddha points but also providing 24 white and two blue treasure chests.
