C1 The Great Hero Ultimate Technique System Came Late
April 13th, 2020.
Monday.
5:00 PM.
The dismissal bell at East Sea City Vocational Technical College rang punctually.
Feng Manlou set down his pen, rotated his stiff neck a few times, and began to pack his backpack.
His phone on the desk lit up. Glancing down, he saw a message from Du Xinbo, who had skipped class.
[Da Bai: Madman, get over to the basketball court, fast. We're one short for three-on-three, and it's no fun without you!]
[Feng Manlou: Can't, Boss Zhao just gave me a task. I've got to hand out flyers on Snack Street tonight.]
[Da Bai: Fine, then bring us some late-night snacks!]
[Feng Manlou: OK.]
With a soft whoosh, a red envelope icon appeared behind Da Bai's avatar.
Feng Manlou accepted the red envelope, slung his backpack over his shoulder, and left the classroom.
Once out of the academic building, he headed back to his dorm room. Making sure his roommates were out, he dropped his backpack and slowly closed his eyes, taking several deep breaths.
Suddenly, his eyes snapped open, and he seized Da Bai's pillow, lashing out at the bed in a frenzy, sending cotton flying everywhere until he was panting and stopped.
"Damn it, God!
You send me to a parallel world without any special abilities? What's the point of sending me here?"
Yes, Feng Manlou was a traverser, one who had no advantages other than being about ten years younger, a powerless traverser who had been on Blue Star for a week.
After a week of meticulous research, he realized that on Blue Star, aside from different place names and personal names, everything else was identical to Earth.
As a traverser, he couldn't just copy works from Earth because all the novels, movies, and songs he knew existed here too!
Nor could he find any business models or entrepreneurial opportunities that were present on Earth but missing on Blue Star, because every conceivable company had already been established!
Blue Star was like a carbon copy of Earth, leaving him with no competitive edge, as if it were all some kind of joke!
No, it was worse than having no edge; it was a step backward!
Before traversing, at least he had parents. If he couldn't make it in the city, he could have returned to his ancestral home to take over the family's small supermarket and live as a worry-free semi-urban business owner.
Now, his identity was that of an orphan, abandoned since childhood with no fallback whatsoever.
After releasing his frustration, Feng Manlou observed the pillow in his hands, now with a gaping hole. He swapped his pillow with Da Bai's, cleaned up the cotton, and set out for work.
As dusk settled, Feng Manlou arrived at a print shop named "Zhan Peng Advertising Company" on his four-wheeled mountain bike.
"Mr. Zhao, I've arrived."
"Manlou's here," the print shop owner gestured towards two stacks of flyers by the paper cutter. "The going rate's gone up a bit. You'll get 150 yuan this time. Make sure to take a photo for proof."
"No problem." Manlou picked up the flyers and exited the print shop. "Thanks, Mr. Zhao!"
The former inhabitant of this body had been handing out flyers for this print shop since high school. They had a longstanding relationship, so there was no need for small talk. Distribute the flyers, get paid, and that was that.
Manlou secured the flyers in the wire-bound basket on the rear of his bike and waved goodbye as he made his way to the snack street near the university.
Handing out flyers to college students was the best strategy. They were more receptive and would take one with just a bit of kindness, unlike the tougher crowd out in the working world.
A ten-minute ride later, the air filled with an array of delicious scents.
He had reached the snack street.
After parking his bike, Manlou, armed with two stacks of flyers, bought two meat buns for three dollars and wolfed them down. He then snagged two cups of water from the bun shop to refresh himself before starting to distribute the flyers.
Transmigrating to this life was disheartening, but he couldn't let that stop him from living.
Truth be told, he could get by without handing out flyers, thanks to the decent welfare system in C Country, which provided educational and living subsidies for orphans like him. As long as he stayed healthy, his basic needs were covered.
Yet, having lived two lifetimes, Feng Manlou aspired to make a difference. He planned to work hard towards earning a bachelor's degree and to save some money while he could benefit from the subsidies, preparing for any unforeseen needs in the future.
For over three years, Feng Manlou had been handing out flyers, and his efforts had certainly paid off. With a smile and an outstretched hand, he managed to distribute a day's worth of flyers in just three hours.
Holding the last flyer, Feng Manlou snapped a photo with his phone, pondering who the final recipient should be. He wanted to end the night on a high note, ideally by finding a beautiful girl to give it to. Scanning the area, his gaze locked onto a girl with a sweet innocence about her, rating a 7 in looks and a 6 in figure, standing at the entrance of a milk tea shop 25 meters away. She was the one. After her, his work would be done.
"Excuse me, miss..." Feng Manlou began, but the words caught in his throat as he noticed something alarming.
No way, a thief?
Just behind the unsuspecting girl, a young man decked out in counterfeit brands was stealthily extending tweezers toward the pocket where she kept her phone.
Feng Manlou's eyes bulged, and his heart raced. A real-life thief was right there! Should he intervene?
"Feng Manlou, shout out and warn her!" urged a voice of justice in his head. He knew he had to act fast to prevent the thief's success.
"Stay calm! Do you want to keep distributing flyers on this street? These thieves operate in gangs. If you cross him, you can kiss this job goodbye!" a cold, pragmatic voice countered in his mind.
Feng Manlou froze. That was a valid point. Angering the thief could mean losing his spot on the street.
"Feng Manlou, you're a Traverser, for crying out loud! Don't be a coward," the voice of courage challenged him again. He could always switch to the pedestrian street.
That was true; it was only an additional 20-minute bike ride.
As he contemplated taking a step, a deep and indifferent voice countered, "Aren't you afraid of a thief armed with a knife? It's no problem to ride half an hour to the pedestrian street, but what if you get stabbed to death? If you die right after traversing, heaven might not give you another chance to cross over."
The possibility of being stabbed silenced the voice of righteousness. After a long pause, it finally spoke, "Life and death are at stake here. You'll have to make your own decision; I won't offer any advice..."
Feng Manlou's sense of justice was overpowered by his survival instinct, and he made a lightning-fast decision!
He resolved to ignore the situation entirely, as if he hadn't seen a thing.
But just as he was about to turn away, the thief's gaze locked onto his.
With a menacing glare, the thief's mouth silently moved six times.
Miraculously, Feng Manlou understood the lip-reading.
"Mind your own business, or get lost!"
Yes, those were the six words!
Feng Manlou was instantly infuriated. He thought to himself, 'I was already turning away, why threaten me? Do you really think I'm that weak?'
'Hand me a keyboard, and I could make your head explode!'
His chest heaved with rage like a bellows, and Feng Manlou angrily turned his head away, out of sight, out of mind.
Okay, I admit it, I am that cowardly.
[Don't be a coward!]

What the heck?
Feng Manlou was startled by the sudden appearance of the light curtain, nearly shouting out loud before realizing he was the only one who could see it. Then, he was ecstatic to the point of madness.
At last, the system had arrived!
Without hesitation, he mentally clicked to download.
[Download commencing.]
[1%...]
In the blink of an eye, the download progress shot from 1% to 100%, instantly completing the installation and launching the system.
It truly was a straightforward system, displaying just two lines of content.
[Current Fist Technique Mastery: Five-step Fist]
[Heroic Points: 0]
Five-step Fist? What in the world is that?
[Five-step Fist:
A fundamental martial arts technique, and a basic skill that every great hero in C Country must master.
One of the excellent Fist Techniques, it is considered an introductory martial art within the Jianghu and is also a fundamental Fist Technique that every aspiring hero in C Country must learn. This Fist Technique encompasses the most basic stances of bow, horse, servant, void, and rest, as well as the three hand forms: fist, palm, and hook. It includes movements such as advancing, retreating, wrapping hands, thrusting punches, pressing palms, piercing palms, lifting palms, framing strikes, and covering blows.
It is the only Fist Technique that the Ultimate Technique System gifts to the host, allowing the host to learn it directly without the need to accumulate any Heroic Points.
Accumulating Heroic Points, what in the world is that?
[Heroic Points: Points earned through acts of chivalry, which can be used to exchange for various Fist Techniques within the system.]
What does that mean? I have to perform acts of chivalry to use this system?!
[Yes.]
[!!!]
[Emergency Alert: Please act quickly to stop the pickpocket, or you will miss this opportunity to earn Heroic Points!]
[Don't hesitate any longer. You've missed too many opportunities in your past life. After traversing to this new world, are you still going to pass up this golden opportunity to turn your life around and continue being a nobody?]
[Let out a brave shout! Just take this step, and you will embark on a brand-new chapter in your life!]
The last two lines struck a chord deep within Feng Manlou's psyche.
He felt as though a fierce beast within his heart had broken free from its chains, leaping from the dark corners to stand atop the blazing summit of his heart and roar at the heavens.
He found himself roaring out loud involuntarily.
"Who the hell is giving up?!"
Feng Manlou rolled the flyer into a makeshift megaphone, pointed at the thief, and bellowed, "You, thief, take your hands off that!"
Exhilarating!
After his outburst on the street, Feng Manlou felt all the pent-up frustration wash away.
