C19 Super Creatures
The night was shrouded in a misty moonlight that lent the Purple Poison Forest an air of otherworldly mystery. Yet, despite its enigmatic allure, the forest was buzzing with unusual activity.
Hundreds of elite members from the Yun, Chu, Qin, Zhou, Li, and Zhao families had converged within the forest, their collective presence illuminating the dense woods. Covered in Soul Suppressing Pollen, they moved in a formidable procession without immediately drawing the attention of the Scorpion Group.
As representatives of the Black Iron Base, they were quick to spot the Purple Poison Nether Scorpions lurking all around them upon entry. These Gene Creatures were ubiquitous, hiding in the rock walls and burrowed in the soil, with their nests seemingly located beneath the caves the group had traversed.
Thanks to the Soul Suppressing Pollen, the creatures disregarded the intruders. Consequently, the group refrained from launching an unprovoked attack, cautious in the unfamiliar surroundings. Despite having some knowledge of the area from Wang Xiaohua's briefing, they remained vigilant.
Even the typically brash Qin Xiao exercised extreme caution. Aware of the pervasive dangers of the Void Realm at night, the seasoned hunter was not about to slip up over a rookie mistake.
Upon deeper exploration of the Purple Poison Forest from the cave's entrance, the group realized that this so-called otherworldly jungle was not as expansive as it seemed, and the items of value were quite limited. Their thorough search yielded no new Gene Life forms.
The valley was abundant with Spirit Plants, but the species were not particularly rare, and most were mere seedlings with clear signs of previous harvesting. Such specimens held little interest for the prominent families of the Black Iron Base.
The true treasure of the forest, then, was the rare and valuable Mutated Level Purple Poison Nether Scorpion Soul Jade.
After surveying the area, the group pieced together the events that had transpired. Sparse though they were, the traces of battle at the entrance were still discernible.
Standing before a massive pit, Qin Xiao's brow furrowed deeply in concern. If Wang Xiaohua's information was correct, this was the final resting place of Qin Xiaotian. Qin Xiao had held Xiaotian in high esteem, and the feeling had been mutual. It was hard to fathom that in just three days, they had been irrevocably parted by death.
"Brother Qin Xiao, my condolences," Zhou Qian said, though his face betrayed no genuine emotion.
Lee Jin and Zhao Jia chimed in with similar sentiments, but their insincerity was palpable, their words tinged with schadenfreude.
Chu Feng, observing Qin Xiao's demeanor, couldn't help but let out a mocking chuckle. "Tsk, tsk, tsk! Poor Qin Xiaotian, to think he'd end up buried here."
"Qin Xiao, I've always said that kid was all show and no substance, but you wouldn't listen. Yun Bing tells me you wagered 300,000 points on him? Even a mining fortune couldn't sustain such losses!"
"Let's wrap this up and head back to the real world. We won't impose any longer."
Chu Feng's barbs struck deep, turning Qin Xiao's face a shade of deep purple.
Qin Xiao, a top contender on the Black Iron Base's Combat Power Board, was known for his pride. He carried himself as if second only to the heavens.
Even though Yun Bing and Chu Feng had slightly higher scores on the Combat Power Board, he had never shown fear towards either of them.
For the usually haughty Qin Xiao, this was an unprecedented humiliation.
His face turned a purplish hue, yet he was at a loss for words, unable to muster a single retort.
The truth was undeniable, no matter how much he didn't want to accept it. As a member of the Qin family, with a fully maxed Mutant Gene Count, Qin Xiaotian had led his team to their demise at the hands of the so-called weakest warrior in the base. It was an indelible stain on their honor.
It was a rare chance for Chu Feng to ridicule his old rival, and he took it with a gleeful smile. Knowing when enough was enough, he promptly left with his elite team, heading for the Purple Poison Nether Scorpion.
Yun Bing, heiress of the Yun family, watched Chu Feng depart and decided not to linger unnecessarily.
After all, she and Qin Xiao had no real rapport.
"Qin Xiao, harsh as Chu Feng's words may be, they're not without merit. Your Qin family has truly lost face this time. Let's get ourselves together and return to the real world."
After a rather unfriendly greeting, Yun Bing quickly led her elite troops away.
Once those two families had departed, the heads of the Zhou, Li, and Zhao families grew restless. With just a simple exchange of glances, they promptly excused themselves and hastened after Chu Feng and Yun Bing toward the cave entrance.
Having previously explored the area, they had a good idea of what treasures it held.
Deep into the night, everyone was eager to finish up and return to their beds.
Qin Xiao, glancing at the vast pit beneath him and then at the vanishing silhouettes of the elite forces in the night, curled his lips into a sly grin. "Qin Feng, take a few people and stay behind to dig up Xiaotian's body for me."
"The rest of you, come with me to the entrance. We've taken a heavy hit this time, losing both resources and troops. We must capture the super creatures here, and the Soul Jade, to cut our losses."
Arriving en masse at the entrance of the Purple Poison Forest, they commenced a large-scale slaughter of the Purple Poison Nether Scorpions.
It was indeed a massacre.
All present were the cream of the crop from their families, with even the weakest fully endowed with mutated genes and possessing a multitude of super genes.
Once the blood poison proved ineffective, the Purple Poison Nether Scorpions stood no chance against these warriors skilled in gene martial arts.
Despite their relentless assault, the scorpions failed to inflict any damage on the elite forces.
As waves of Origin Power flowed, the Scorpion Group was decimated, batch after batch.
In such a massive slaughter, the rare Soul Jade began to emerge, despite its typically low odds of appearance.
With a swift "Whoosh!" Yun Bing's sword, shrouded in mist, sliced through the air, bisecting a semi-transparent Mutated Level Purple Poison Nether Scorpion that had attempted to camouflage itself.
The Will of the Void echoed as a thumb-sized, purple-black Soul Jade formed from the bisected remains.
Mutated Level Soul Jade!
Yun Bing reached out her left hand, her face lighting up with delight.
After such a long battle, they had finally secured their prize.
In an instant, the Mutated Soul Jade was absorbed into Yun Bing's Soul Sea. In that moment, her form began to fade until she vanished without a trace.
All the changes on the battlefield certainly didn't go unnoticed by Chu Feng and his companions.
Confronted with such practical Soul Jade, everyone looked on with covetous eyes.
The Scorpion Group relentlessly pressed on, and the spirits of the fighters remained undiminished. More and more people were claiming Soul Jades amidst the fray.
Initially, they struck like phantoms, darting and slashing through the ranks of the Scorpion Group.
"Ah!"
The cheerful mood of the various families, busy with their substantial acquisitions, was shattered by a sudden, agonizing scream.
At the source of the scream, a member of the Chu family suddenly had a gaping hole appear in his forehead before collapsing lifelessly.
"Be careful, a Super Creature, the Super Nether Scorpion!"
Someone nearby, having caught a glimpse of something, immediately sounded the alarm.
Chu Feng's excitement was palpable upon hearing this. "Quick! Encircle it immediately!"
A super creature! It was almost unbelievable that such a being was among the scorpion horde.
Chu Feng and his group had already reached their limit with mutated genes and had held off advancing to the Second Realm in hopes of filling their super genes.
While super creatures might be plentiful in the vast Void Realm, they were exceedingly rare within thousands of kilometers of the Black Iron Base.
Killing one and consuming its flesh could yield anywhere from one to ten gene points.
One hundred gene points implied the existence of at least a dozen, if not more, super creatures of various species. Given the perils outside the base, the challenge of hunting a super creature was self-evident.
With all the elite forces deployed, Chu Feng's excitement was justified upon encountering a super creature.
The wind howled as Chu Feng, swift as a tempest, positioned himself in front of the fallen team member.
By then, the Chu family's elite had already prepared the hunting ground.
Four walls of wind, like curtains, sealed off all external elements from the Chu family's domain.
Beneath these barriers, several individuals adept in sensory gene techniques began scanning for the elusive super creature, much like radars in operation.
"There it is!"
"It's so fast!"
In the southeast corner, a young man with a water attribute complexion sent ripples through the air with a tremor of his palm.
"Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!"
No sooner had he spoken than a barrage of Origin Power was unleashed with precision.
"Puff, puff, puff..."
A series of soft noises marked the brief appearance of a purple-black, crystal-like scorpion as it leaped up, only to vanish without a trace.
"Listen to the Wind!"
Amidst the turmoil, Chu Feng, who had just arrived, refrained from pursuing blindly. Instead, he closed his eyes and steadied his mind. With a surge of Origin Power, a peculiar breeze began to swirl around him.
"I've found you!"
In an instant, Chu Feng's eyes snapped open, and he shot toward the eastern wind wall like a whirlwind.
"Whoosh!"
Before he could reach it, a blue-green streak of light cut through the air with a brilliant arc.
"Clang!"
Sparks flew as Chu Feng's sword, swift as thunder, clashed with the slender, black-purple tail of the scorpion.
The force of the sword was momentarily halted, and in the blink of an eye, the scorpion's form vanished once more.
These super creatures possessed a certain level of intelligence. The combat style of the Purple Poison Nether Scorpion resembled that of a master assassin.
Should their strike miss, they would instantly conceal themselves, avoiding direct confrontation with their adversaries at all costs.
"Swish, swish, swish!"
But Chu Feng was not so easily shaken. The breeze enveloping him seemed to grant him a sense of the air currents around him.
His sword thrusts were relentless, each one pinpointing the Super Nether Scorpion's rapid leaps. He came close to landing a hit several times.
Yet, each attempt was narrowly evaded by the swift flick of the scorpion's tail.
Although Chu Feng had not yet managed to wound the creature, he was doggedly on its trail.
The rest of the hunters on the field were quick to catch on.
Chu Feng's four teammates, powered by their surging Origin Power, swiftly joined the fray to hunt down the Super Gene Creature. Their seamless cooperation indicated that this was not their first time working in tandem.
But as Chu Feng's team coordinated their efforts to corner and trap the Super Nether Scorpion, Qin Xiao, watching from beyond the veil-like wind wall, made his move, his eyes burning with envy.
