C2 So I Am the Female Devil
Zhou Mu feigned nonchalance as he commanded, "Bring them forward."
Could he really refuse?
Given that this body belonged to a female demon adept at refining living furnaces, if he objected, wouldn't they instantly see through his guise as the false Sect Master?
Would they let him off the hook then?
The elder woman signaled with a nod to the others beside her.
Three men were brought forth, none particularly old—each appeared to be in their twenties or thirties and strikingly handsome.
Upon laying eyes on Zhou Mu, all three were visibly terrified, their bodies shaking uncontrollably.
"Sect Master, the furnaces have been presented. Shall we... proceed with the harvesting here?" the elder woman inquired with deference.
Harvest them?
The thought of me, a man, harvesting three other men is too bizarre to contemplate!
Besides, I'd need to know how to do it, wouldn't I?
Yet, the undeniable truth was that he was now a female demon!
Any sign of abnormal behavior would instantly give him away, and there would be no chance of escape!
Zhou Mu weighed his options, knowing he couldn't harm these men nor could he allow the young women to suspect his true identity.
Still, he had to maintain a certain demeanor.
The girls on the bank shivered as Zhou Mu remained silent.
They had served the Sect Master for years and were intimately familiar with her temperament!
The Sect Master was clearly not pleased with these furnaces!
What were they to do?
Given the Sect Master's character, if the furnaces didn't meet her expectations, the consequences for them would be dire!
The senior among the girls, Du Yue, cast a chilling glance at the three men kneeling before her and commanded, "Someone, execute them!"
Zhou Mu was taken aback.
Murder?
He hadn't ordered any killings!
Before he could speak up, two of the girls unsheathed their swords and advanced toward the men, an icy aura of death emanating from them.
"Mercy, Fairy, please!"
"We merely flirted with those women; we've committed no grave sins!"
"…"
The men pleaded, their faces etched with terror.
But their pleas were cut short as the girls' swords swept across their necks, silencing them with a gruesome finality as blood gushed forth.
Zhou Mu felt a chill creep up from the soles of his feet to his forehead.
Could they truly be killers?
This place was undoubtedly a den of evil, where such beautiful young women could take a life without a second thought.
What would happen if they discovered he wasn't their sect master?
The silence from Zhou Mu only intensified the girls' fear.
Du Yue quickly knelt and pleaded, "I have failed you. The cauldron I brought did not meet the Sect Master's standards. I beg for your forgiveness!"
"In recent days, I've identified several treacherous men who have committed heinous acts, leaving many women violated. I will capture them all for the Sect Master's cultivation practices."
A shiver ran down Zhou Mu's back.
They were planning to capture more?
If they did, would he be expected to exploit them or not?
However, it seemed that those they targeted were villains who preyed on innocent young girls.
A thought flashed through Zhou Mu's mind, and he spoke up, "That won't be necessary."
Hearing this, Du Yue's face showed a flicker of concern.
Did they no longer need a cauldron?
Was the Sect Master dissatisfied with their efforts?
Trembling with fear, Du Yue and the others prostrated themselves even more earnestly. "Sect Master, please have mercy! We will find a superior cauldron next time, please quell your anger!"
Zhou Mu arched an eyebrow.
The girls were clearly terrified of him.
Adopting a stern demeanor, Zhou Mu declared, "I have no need for a cauldron to cultivate at the moment. I am weary. You shall accompany me back."
"Yes, Sect Master!"
"We will assist the Sect Master!"
Relieved that the Sect Master was not truly enraged, Du Yue and the others helped Zhou Mu out of the water and took the lead.
This suited Zhou Mu perfectly.
He had no memories of his past life, no knowledge of where he lived or what his duties were.
Having these female disciples guide him allowed him to discreetly find his dwelling.
He was unsure why he had become a female demon, but he decided to accept his new reality for now.
First, he would settle in; then, he would consider his next move.
Walking past the corpses of the three men, Zhou Mu stole a furtive glance at them.
The sight was unbearably gruesome!
This only reinforced his resolve to keep his identity hidden. Considering the merciless nature of these Witches, if they were to discover him, would he stand any chance of survival?
Following Du Yue and her companions through the back mountain, Zhou Mu was greeted by numerous pavilions, all shrouded in mist and exuding an overwhelming spiritual energy.
"This place certainly surpasses the Jade Sun Sect of Vast Azure Mountain," he mused.
As he walked, Zhou Mu took in his surroundings. Having spent three years at the Jade Sun Sect, he was intimately familiar with it. In comparison, the Vast Azure Mountain was like heaven and earth.
The architectural style here was markedly different from what he was accustomed to seeing.
The buildings of the Jade Sun Sect appeared traditional and somewhat staid, whereas this place was innovative and each structure radiated a grandeur.
"The mountain gate of this sorceress isn't too shabby," Zhou Mu noted inwardly.
Judging by its presence, this sect must wield considerable power.
Before long, Du Yue and the other Witches halted in front of a pavilion, then positioned themselves on either side of the entrance, waiting respectfully for Zhou Mu to proceed.
He scanned the area ahead.
It appeared that this was likely the residence of the sorceress.
He glanced at Du Yue and the others standing guard at the door.
Zhou Mu contemplated making an excuse to send them away.
However, he quickly dismissed the idea. Currently, he was unfamiliar with the personal habits and operational style of the sorceress. Any inappropriate action could risk revealing his identity.
With a composed demeanor, he entered the pavilion and shut the door behind him.
"I must find a way to return!"
"But until then, I cannot afford to reveal myself, or my life would be in jeopardy!"
Finally alone, Zhou Mu breathed a sigh of relief.
"Furthermore, I'm uncertain if there are other formidable individuals within this sect. Now that I'm inside the dwelling of the sorceress, it's best to venture out as little as possible to avoid arousing suspicion."
Plans began to take shape in Zhou Mu's mind.
Simultaneously, his gaze surveyed the room.
The room was spacious yet sparsely decorated, exuding a sense of quiet elegance. On the balcony stood a potted plant containing a small bamboo unlike any other; it was black, and its leaves resembled an open human hand, surrounded by a faint black mist.
Zhou Mu found this peculiar, having never encountered such a bamboo before. As he pondered this oddity, his attention was drawn to a screen nearby. Hanging on it was a calendar that displayed the current date. Calendars were commonplace, found in nearly every home, so initially, Zhou Mu was not taken aback. However, upon noticing the date, he was stopped in his tracks.
"September 28th of the year twenty thousand!" Zhou Mu was bewildered. His recollection was clear: the Divine Prefecture had been established for only ten thousand years. Yet, the date before him suggested otherwise—was this place a whole ten thousand years removed from his original world? Had he arrived ten thousand years into the future?
With meticulous care, Zhou Mu removed the calendar to examine it closely. It was brand new, and the date was indeed correct. "???" he thought. Did this mean he had traveled ten thousand years into the future to become a ruthless female demon, one who killed without a second thought? Or was it possible that the calendar was a fake, a mere plaything of the female demon?
Do you believe it?
