C22 The Use of the Doll

After all, when a child calls out for their mother, any gift they receive is bound to be something special. So why is it that when they call for their father, they end up gifting him a doll?

The system seemed to have picked up on Ye Tian's discontent and delivered another blow to his heart.

"Ding! A friendly reminder from the system: This doll isn't actually a gift for you; it's for your child."

Upon hearing this, Ye Tian was at a loss for words. He inhaled deeply, forcibly quelling the frustration bubbling up inside him.

The system seemed aware of Ye Tian's irritation but appeared utterly indifferent.

"This is a super doll, capable of withstanding harm and protecting your child. Should you ever find yourself without the time to care for your child, it can step in. No outsider will be able to get close."

"In other words, this 'doll' is more accurately described as a super bodyguard."

Ye Tian couldn't help but feel a mix of intrigue and skepticism. It seemed to make sense, but something about the situation felt off.

The system now seemed more attentive to his child than he was, even gifting his child these dolls.

It did seem, from any perspective, to be a rather friendly gesture.

Ye Tian gave the system a sidelong glance, his earlier anxiety dissipating as he began to relax.

"Seriously, system, you could have explained this sooner and saved me the trouble of getting worked up."

"I have to say, this entity in the system is incredibly stubborn. I've never encountered anyone quite as exasperating as you."

"Still, I do hope for more rewards like this in the future. The safety of my child is paramount; everything else is of little concern to me."

The system, for its part, acted as if it heard nothing, too disinterested to even respond to such a foolish question.

In the end, he couldn't shake the feeling that something was off, so he placed the doll next to the five children.

He gazed at Su Qingcheng with a grave expression, his eyes taking on an unusual weight.

"Qingcheng, you need to be extra cautious in the upcoming days. This situation is not as straightforward as it seems."

"This doll must stay with the five children at all times, so don't separate them. The doll has a magical ability to safeguard the children."

Su Qingcheng was completely baffled as she listened, her eyes filled with curiosity while she examined the doll. She couldn't fathom how such an ordinary doll could possess such significant power.

Under normal circumstances, it just didn't make sense. A doll is, after all, just a simple object.

Yet now, it was being touted as something extraordinary, which was almost too much for her to bear.

Still, she managed a strained smile. This was Ye Tian's decision, and she had always been respectful of his choices.

So, with some difficulty, she accepted the situation, feeling as though there was no alternative.

Meanwhile, Ye Tian was quite content. He had finally completed the challenging task assigned by the system, which left him feeling quite relieved.

On the other hand, after addressing Ye Tian's concerns, Chiang Peng realized that Ye Tian was deeply fond of Su Qingcheng and was quite protective of her.

Yet his own girlfriend had repeatedly antagonized Su Qingcheng, who was also her sister. Knowing the girl's temper well, he anticipated that she would inevitably stir up trouble.

With this in mind, he hastened home, and before long, he was back.

He immediately called for Su Jinyu, who was already aware of his visit to Ye Tian's place.

Seeing her excitement, he could tell that Su Jinyu was convinced that Chiang Peng had gone to settle scores on her behalf.

"Besides, my sister has always been unpopular at home since she was a child. So, I really think you're doing the right thing."

As he spoke, he failed to notice the darkening expression on Chiang Peng's face across from him, which was turning as black as charcoal.

Chiang Peng, meanwhile, was filled with relief. He was thankful that he had decided to break up in time. Had he waited until disaster struck, the fallout would have been much worse.

With that thought, a slight smile played on his lips. His demeanor remained calm and steady, which was a positive sign in any light.

Chiang Peng, facing Su Jinyu, had little desire to engage in extensive conversation. In his eyes, Su Jinyu was nothing more than a shrew.

Engaging too much with such a person would inevitably lead to no good. Thus, his resolve was clear and unwavering.
