C23 Green Turtle Stay away from Me
"Alright!"
Zhao Lu was a woman of decisive action. She immediately agreed, but then she inquired, "So... what's the next step? Should I transfer the money into Fei's account?"
To be honest, she was most concerned about this. After all, money is safest in one's own hands.
"No need, that would be too complicated," Su Fei replied as he pulled up his WeChat QR code on his phone and handed it to Zhao Lu. "Just like Liu Qi, add me on WeChat. I'll guide you through the process there. It's straightforward: buy the full stock today and sell it all first thing tomorrow morning."
Su Fei paused, his tone growing stern, "But remember, if you don't follow my instructions and lose money, I won't take any responsibility, and I'll terminate our transaction immediately."
"Yes, I understand," Zhao Lu responded, her heart swelling with joy. What could be safer than managing her own account?
"Take pictures of the purchase and sale prices and send them to me. We'll settle up the same day," Su Fei instructed.
After a light cough, Su Fei stood up, prompting Liu Qi to finally shift his attention away from the fruits and vegetables before him. He offered Su Fei a smile and said, "Are you leaving, Brother Fei? Where to? I can drive you."
"No need, you two carry on with your business," Su Fei said, casting a meaningful glance at them before adding with emphasis, "Remember, our deal must remain confidential. Anyone who spills the beans will be out of the game—no exceptions!"
"Yes, of course!" Liu Qi and Zhao Lu quickly nodded in agreement.
With the market closed for the day, there was no point in Su Fei trying to liquidate his credit card balance. He decided to head home, suspecting that the little tyrant there might be growing impatient.
...
"Sanitary pad, why are you back so late?"
As soon as Su Fei stepped through the door, he was greeted by a woeful shout from upstairs. He chuckled and replied, "What's the matter? I was only out for a few hours. Did you miss me that much?"
"Sanitary pad, do you have a death wish talking to me like that?" Shen Bingyan complained as she stormed down the stairs in her fluffy slippers, clearly annoyed. "Hurry up and get changed. The Cheng family is hosting a banquet today, and my sister wants you to join us."
Su Fei was taken aback. It was as if the sun had risen from the west—Shen Bingyan was actually taking him out?
Half an hour after the workday ended, Shen Bingyan returned from the company punctually. While Su Fei was still fretting over what to wear, Shen Bingyan arrived at his room's door with a brand-new suit in hand.
"Put this on." With no further words, Shen Bingyan tossed the suit to Su Fei and turned to leave. "I'll wait twenty minutes. If you're not down by then, I'm leaving without you."
Su Fei quickly donned the suit, which fit him perfectly.
Descending the stairs, Su Fei caught Shen Bingyan off guard, lounging on the sofa. She gasped in surprise, and even Shen Bingyan's expressive eyes shimmered with approval.
Feeling quite pleased with himself, Su Fei had taken great care with his appearance.
"Wow, I didn't expect you to clean up so well. You're actually pretty handsome when you make an effort," Shen Bingyan said, popping a piece of chocolate into her mouth and playfully linking arms with Shen Bingyan. "Sister, shall we head out?"
Su Fei was puzzled. "You're coming too?"
"What else would I do, stay home and starve? You already left me hungry at lunch! Humph!"
Shen Bingyan ignored Su Fei's surprise, grabbed Shen Bingyan by the arm, and they both headed out to the car.
The driver, who had brought Su Fei, was waiting. In just over half an hour, the trio arrived at Rainbow Bay in Klido.
Rainbow Bay was more than just a name; it was an architectural ensemble designed along the coastline. The bay had been purchased and transformed by the tycoon Lee Mo into the current Rainbow Bay, a place frequented by Klido's elite.
As Shen Bingyan's Mercedes-Benz pulled into the parking lot, it barely garnered a second glance from the valet—Mercedes and BMWs were a dime a dozen here, and one could easily become desensitized to such luxury.
Surveying the opulence of the cars around him, Su Fei couldn't help but remark, "This place really is worth its weight in gold."
"I remember Sister used to bring me here when I was little," Shen Bingyan mused, then suddenly feeling she misspoke, she playfully stuck her tongue out at Shen Bingyan.
In Shen Bingyan's presence, Shen Bingyan managed to curb her usual brashness.
Shen Bingyan and Shen Bingyan strolled ahead, arm in arm, while Su Fei followed behind, resembling less of a husband and more of a servant.
The Debum Group had reserved the entire third floor of Rainbow Bay, attracting over a hundred socialites and affluent entrepreneurs. Yet, as Shen Bingyan and Shen Bingyan gracefully made their way through the crowd, the other socialites paled in comparison.
No matter how precious the jewelry, how fine the bespoke attire, or how cultivated the conversation, it all seemed to lack a certain essence that Shen Bingyan and Shen Bingyan naturally possessed.
It was a sense of refinement.
Without a point of reference, this quality might go unnoticed, but next to them, the contrast was stark and immediate.
The wealthy patrons couldn't help but fix their eyes on the sisters, almost unable to look away. Even though Shen Bingyan and Shen Bingyan weren't dressed to the nines, their poise and smiles captivated everyone. What's more, it was common knowledge that the Shen family was facing tough times, and any man in Klido would find it hard not to be drawn to these renowned beauties.
But for now, everyone maintained a semblance of self-control.
"What's the big deal? They're just has-beens..." Su Mengling scoffed, giving Shen Bingyan a disdainful look as she passed by, pretending to adjust her evening gown while conspicuously touching the diamond necklace at her chest.
Before Shen Bingyan's arrival, the small circle that included Su Mengling and her friends was the center of attention at the banquet, with male guests vying for their company. However, once Shen Bingyan and Shen Bingyan appeared, the wealthy young men who had been flocking around them shifted their attention, leaving their group feeling somewhat sidelined.
"Sister Ling Ling is absolutely right," Sun Lili agreed, stamping her foot in annoyance. Her emerald earrings swayed, and her face flushed with a hint of irritation. But then her attention turned to Su Fei, trailing behind the sisters: "Hey, who's that behind them? He's quite good-looking."
"Him? I don't recognize him," Su Mengling replied, shaking her head. "Looks like he might be a servant from the Shen family?"
Sun Lili's expression soured as she recalled someone, her initial curiosity turning to revulsion. "He couldn't be Shen Bingyan's good-for-nothing husband, could he? Why on earth would Shen Bingyan bring someone like that here? Just looking at him is off-putting!"
"Isn't it great to bring him along?" Su Mengling didn't see it that way. She gave Sun Lili's bare shoulder a gentle tap and said, "Come on, let's go check out the excitement."
The banquet's primary goal was to celebrate the birthday of Cheng Ting, the chairman of the Debum Group. Cheng Ting was known for his laid-back nature, which contributed to the relaxed atmosphere of the event.
It was billed as a dinner, but the real purpose wasn't to eat. The food and desserts served as more of a decorative element. The event was an opportunity for guests to network, exchange pleasantries, or discuss potential collaborations. These were the true highlights of such gatherings.
Private rooms were set up in the back hall for those who were serious about discussing business. If there was mutual interest in a partnership, parties could discreetly leave the main hall to talk over the details in private.
Shen Bingyan was well-versed in navigating these events. She struck the perfect balance between being approachable and maintaining a respectful distance, a skill honed from years of strict upbringing and social engagements.
Shen Bingyan was often referred to as the ice beauty among the Three Great Pearls. Her demeanor was both gracious and reserved, neither too distant nor overly familiar. When Cheng Lin, the sole heir to the Debum Group's chairman, struck up a conversation with her, the area around them quickly became the center of attention, drawing a crowd.
When Shen Bingyan found herself at the center of attention, her sister, Shen Bingyan, seized the chance to slip away, and Su Fei did the same. They were now enjoying some food in a quiet corner of the banquet.
Unlike the others who had dined before arriving, they were indulging in the moment.
"Hey, sanitary pad, mind your manners while eating. Don't make my sister look bad!"
Shen Bingyan shot Su Fei a glare, causing him to hesitate with his steak mid-bite.
Su Fei carefully set his tea cup aside and picked up a napkin from the table, dabbing it at the corners of his mouth before grumbling, "Never mind, you go ahead and eat. I'm going to grab some juice."
"Get me one too, mango flavor, please."
Upon Su Fei's return, he was surprised to find that an additional person had joined the private room that had previously only contained Shen Bingyan and himself.
Lee Yang took a seat next to Shen Bingyan and greeted her with a warm smile, "Shen Bingyan, it's been a while."
Shen Bingyan, perceptive as ever, caught a glimpse of Lee Yang's blatant desire in his eyes and felt a wave of disgust, "I'm sorry, who are you? Have we met?"
Lee Yang's face briefly turned cold, but he quickly recovered with a smile, "Well, we're acquainted now. I'm Lee Yang, my father is the chairman of Cannes Shades. It's a pleasure to meet such a beautiful lady like you."
Shen Bingyan merely nodded in acknowledgment, not bothering to engage further with Lee Yang's extended hand.
Before Lee Yang could say more, Shen Bingyan spotted Su Fei returning and promptly stood to welcome him.
"Thank you," she said to Su Fei with an uncommonly sweet smile. After accepting the mango juice, she whispered urgently, "Sanitary pad, there's a creep following me. Cover for me!"
Lee Yang's brow furrowed as Shen Bingyan intimately took the juice from Su Fei, but he managed to suppress his irritation and approached with a forced smile, "Bingyan, who is this? Could you introduce us?"
Shen Bingyan casually stepped behind Su Fei, subtly nudging him with her elbow. Su Fei internally sighed but managed a polite smile as he shook hands with Lee Yang, "Hello, I'm Shen Bingyan's husband, Su Fei."
Lee Yang withdrew his hand immediately and, in front of Su Fei, ostentatiously wiped it with a wet wipe from the table, his voice icy, "You're the son-in-law? Keep your distance, don't get too close to me!"
Since Su Fei's marriage into the Shen family, their fortunes had taken a turn for the worse, leading the wealthy elite to regard Su Fei as bad luck, avoiding him whenever possible.
Shen Bingyan watched with keen interest, her eyes flicking to Su Fei, curious to see how he would handle the situation.
"Indeed, I do seem to be quite unlucky," Su Fei responded without a hint of anger, smiling wryly. He added with emphasis, "Especially since Cannes Shades' stock took such a hit today. I'd rather not rub shoulders with you lot."
"I'm sorry, I'll come looking for you once you've turned things around."
Without a second glance, she turned and walked away, arm in arm with Shen Bingyan.
Shen Bingyan could easily read between the lines of Su Fei's words. She wasn't bothered by Su Fei's gesture; instead, she chuckled beside him. "Sanitary pad, you're terrible. But since when did you start playing the stock market?"
"Me? Invest in stocks? I don't have that kind of money," Su Fei replied, his smile growing even brighter. "Come on, let's go check on your sister."
