C5 An Unexpected Harvest

"Let's talk about it later. I've just been bitten by a werewolf, and I won't live for more than a month. I need to find four special potions to extend my life. I've heard that the Dragon Knight Army has one, which happens to be on my way." After Zhuge Yao finished speaking, he promptly shut off the communication device. He wasn't about to fall for that guy's tricks again. Being exhausted was one thing, but wasting precious time was far worse.

Two Assault No.66 Mechas were automatically clearing the battlefield. These intelligent machines operated with a degree of autonomy. Barbarian Ox No.6 was also assisting firefighters in removing debris and searching for survivors. Slowly but surely, things seemed to be getting back on track.

Huang Wenwen awoke from her coma, her eyes still bearing traces of tears, looking utterly exhausted. Seeing her like this, Zhuge Yao was reminded of his past life, where she had cried herself dry trying to help him, ultimately dying because of him. He resolved then and there that in this life, he would not let her suffer again.

"It's all right now, the bad guys have been taken care of," Zhuge Yao whispered soothingly to Huang Wenwen, his eyes brimming with affection. His comforting presence was enough to reassure anyone.

Huang Wenwen first nodded, then realized she was still in Zhuge Yao's arms, her cheeks flushing with embarrassment. She quickly stood up. The onlookers smiled knowingly, enjoying the scene. She wasn't too concerned about the others, but she felt she owed Zhuge Yao an apology, so she said, "I've caused you trouble. I'm sorry, but the contents of this box are incredibly important to me."

Zhuge Yao's curiosity was piqued by Huang Wenwen's words. What could be in the box that held such allure? Catching sight of the box in her hands, he excitedly lifted her up and spun around in delight.

"May I take a look at the box? Just for a moment," Zhuge Yao asked, setting Huang Wenwen down, his eyes gleaming with anticipation.

Huang Wenwen didn't hesitate for a moment, treating the box like a precious treasure as she handed it over to Zhuge Yao.

Gazing at the ancient metal box, Zhuge Yao expertly unlocked it and retrieved a bracelet from within. He planted an excited kiss on Huang Wenwen's forehead before exclaiming, "It's the Dragon Egg Bracelet indeed! Wenwen, you truly are my lucky charm."

"What's a Dragon Egg Bracelet? And how did you manage to unlock this box? Are you connected to that family?" Huang Wenwen's confusion was evident, first taken aback by Zhuge Yao's adept lock-picking, then filled with a sense of mysterious anticipation at his words.

"Primary authorization detected. Dragon God System activated. Xiaojin at your service," announced a voice from the bracelet, as a projection of a Small Yellow Man materialized above it.

Zhuge Yao paid no mind to the Small Yellow Man, pressing the bracelet in a precise sequence until the projection vanished. He handed the bracelet back to Huang Wenwen and suggested, "This isn't the place for discussions. Let's check into a hotel, and I'll explain everything. Oh, and where exactly did you find this?"

After a brief exchange, once Assault No.66 and Barbarian Ox No.6 had finished their tasks, Di Renjie, the Antiterrorist commander, readily granted them leave. With a word of thanks, Zhuge Yao led Huang Wenwen toward the inner city, flanked by three imposing Mechas.

In the crowd, a man with a missing arm glowered at Zhuge Yao's retreating figure. He was Zhao Hsing, reverted to his human form, who had been tasked with sabotaging Zhuge Yao's research. Not only had he failed his mission, but he had also been thoroughly defeated.

Taking heed from a previous attack, Zhuge Yao opted for the most opulent hotel for their stay. The security was significantly enhanced, boasting numerous armed Self-defense Forces and a squadron of Military Mechas. The accommodations were top-notch, and he had chosen the presidential suite, ensuring the pinnacle of luxury.

"Now, can you explain?" Huang Wenwen couldn't contain her curiosity any longer, her gaze fixed on Zhuge Yao emerging from the bathroom, eager to learn about the bracelet.

The gentle patter of water echoed through the opulent bathroom, signaling that Zhuge Yao was indulging in a well-deserved shower, washing away the day's sweat.

"This Dragon Egg Bracelet is a technological marvel, far surpassing anything in our modern civilization. It's a super brain designed to enhance your control over Mecha, and it also serves as a 'mother' of sorts. Its worth is on par with the entire Empire Capital," Zhuge Yao explained to Huang Wenwen. In the brief time it took to relay this information, he had finished his shower and slipped into a comfortable set of pajamas.

Huang Wenwen, however, shook her head, still confused. Her expertise was in Mecha power systems, not the intricacies of their control systems.

"This is something my mother left behind for me, and I'm eager to learn more about it. If you're willing to share," Huang Wenwen said, her eyes filled with hope as she gazed at Zhuge Yao, who was now reclining on the bed.

Exhausted from the day's battles, Zhuge Yao yearned for nothing more than a restful sleep, now that he was fully at ease. Yet, he didn't want to dismiss Huang Wenwen's curiosity. He roused the clone of Xiaojin and powered up the Small Mecha attached to him. Nonchalantly, he grabbed a cup from the nightstand and hurled it at the nearby wall. But then, something astonishing occurred—the cup halted in mid-air, mere centimeters from the wall, and then softly descended to the floor, completely intact.

"My goodness, it's like a miracle! How did you do that?" Huang Wenwen exclaimed, her mouth agape in awe, as if she were witnessing a magic trick, unable to fathom the sight before her.

But there was no response to her amazement; Zhuge Yao had succumbed to a deep slumber, his breaths steady and even. As the night deepened, weariness overtook Huang Wenwen, and she, too, drifted off to sleep, nestled against Zhong Yao's arm.

Come dawn, with the first faint light filtering through the curtains, a persistent knocking roused Zhuge Yao. He jolted upright and was immediately confronted by a portly man with a lecherous gaze. In that moment, Zhuge Yao felt an urge to take a pair of scissors and blind the intruder.

"Lei Xun, what brings you here? Shouldn't you be in Holy Steel City?" Zhuge Yao demanded, his anger palpable. He had been on the cusp of a restful sleep, only to have it disrupted by this interloper. And to make matters worse, the man had no qualms about barging into someone else's bedroom, displaying a complete lack of gentlemanly conduct.

"Today marks your official enlistment, and the old man was worried you might get picked on by the seasoned soldiers, so he sent me to protect you," Lei Xun explained earnestly, though his roving eyes betrayed a less than serious demeanor, stealing glances at Huang Wenwen.

Zhuge Yao didn't wait for Lei Xun to finish. He had already changed into his uniform and was standing before him. Lei Xun was taken aback by Zhuge Yao's deft change of attire and the swiftness with which he moved. Before Lei Xun could gather his thoughts, Zhuge Yao had him by the neck, leading him downstairs with a look of chagrin on his face.

The three Mechas were out of commission, but thankfully, Lei Xun had brought along a deluxe Thunderbolt No. 8 Mecha. They had no choice but to cram into the single Mecha for their journey. The military camp was situated on the outskirts of the city, and with the camp's coordinates already programmed into the Mecha, no pilot was necessary. It could autonomously transport them both to their destination with ease.

"As we approach the military camp, we have breaking news to share. The Dragon Knight Army's First Squad distinguished themselves in yesterday's antiterrorism mission, with several members being awarded honor medals by the Empire Imperial Family," the announcement echoed through the camp as they drew near.
