C18 Twenty Million Dollars in the Bank

After ending the call, Everett found himself with some free time since he didn't have to live stream. He had a peaceful, wordless night and woke up the next day feeling incredibly refreshed from sleeping on the grass. The morning sun bathed him in warmth, and for some reason, he found sleeping on the Bellhand Lawn in the desert particularly delightful, not even noticing his phone ringing multiple times.

Stretching leisurely, Everett took a few sips of water from the Giant Pillar Immortal Palm in the cup beside him before checking his phone.

"Huh, a text message!"

He opened it to find a notification from his bank, the Agricultural Bank.

"20 million yuan has been deposited into your account. Please verify the transaction."

"Wow, the money's in! Chili Live is amazing! I'll definitely go all out for you guys!"

Overjoyed, Everett nearly leaped with excitement. After confirming the deposit, he checked his contacts and saw that Sara had called him over a dozen times.

"Hey, Sara, I've received the money. Thanks a bunch!"

"No need to thank me; you earned it. Also, get ready for your next live stream. I'm pretty swamped since I've just joined Chili Live, so I've got my hands full. We'll talk later if anything comes up."

With the call concluded, Everett was ready to get down to business. With money in the bank, he had plenty to keep him busy. But first things first, he was set on developing his scenic area.

Seizing the moment while Fatty was away, Everett began purchasing desert reeds through his phone. He spent seven and a half million yuan, which seemed like a fortune, but it only covered the purchase of about thirty thousand square meters, or roughly forty-five acres of desert reeds.

Back in his hometown, forty-five acres of reeds on the plains would cost less than two million yuan. But this was the desert, after all!

With the reeds acquired, Everett used a one-click planting feature to start designing the layout. His desert reeds would be interspersed across nearly four hundred acres in Crescent Bay. These reeds couldn't just be planted haphazardly; they needed to be arranged to create a cohesive landscape.

At the top, the reeds will be arranged in an oval shape, with the center designed as a diamond. To the left, we'll add a pentagram, and to the right, we'll add a...

After Everett had set up the layout, he clicked to plant on the plot of land at Crescent Bay. The system immediately notified him that the planting would cost 10,000 yuan. Everett nearly threw his phone in shock at the figure!

"Why is it so expensive? Do you think you can just easily make 10,000 yuan off me?"

Everett was livid, and he was determined to face the consequences. He decided to do the planting himself!

The morning sun was gentle as Everett, phone in hand, leapt into the Crescent Bay area to begin his planting. Despite the vastness of Crescent Bay, the task was not overly exhausting for Everett. All he had to do was drag the seeds into the planting frame to cover one square meter. Nevertheless, planting over forty acres of desert reeds still took him a grueling two days and a night.

When he planted the final square meter of reeds, Everett collapsed on the ground, exhausted. Lying in the desert, the thought of having saved ten thousand dollars washed over him, and he suddenly felt a wave of relief. Such is the allure of money!

In the dead of night, Everett contemplated planting some desert pillar cacti, but he was overwhelmed by fatigue. Wrapping himself in a warm blanket, he lay down on the grass and fell asleep almost instantly.

Whether it was the comfort of the grass or sheer exhaustion, Everett didn't wake up until the following afternoon.

For some reason, the afternoon sun still blazed hot, but Everett felt none of its intensity. It was as if the desert's chill at night, dropping to several degrees below zero, had no effect on him either.

A cool breeze wafted over from the swaying reed bed, bringing a sensation reminiscent of raindrops on his face.

"Rain? Impossible. How could it possibly rain in the desert?"

Everett scanned the surroundings, realizing the coolness emanated from the reeds. On closer inspection, he witnessed a miracle amidst the reeds!

Indeed, in the sunlight, droplets of water began to materialize in the air next to the reeds. These droplets drifted towards the reeds, and soon they were settling on the leaves, before finally trickling down onto the white sand below.

The sand had become damp, and before long, the raindrops increased in number. Everett could hear the pattering sound as rain flowed down the tall reeds.

"Wow, this rain is so unusual!"

Can you imagine what it's like to have rain falling on a vast expanse of lush green reeds like a curtain? It was nothing short of spectacular!

The raindrops grew larger, and soon the desert sand was thoroughly soaked, with the relentless rain turning the ground into puddles.

Everett had thought that Crescent Bay would become a world of water, but despite a long wait, the lake never materialized.

By evening, the water droplets clinging to the reeds had ceased. Everett felt a bit disheartened.

Lying on the grass, he watched the damp reeds set against the fiery sunset. The view was beautiful, yet it seemed to be missing something.

"Right, didn't the system say that reeds need a lot of green plants to condense water? Why don't I plant the Bellhand Lawn?"

With that thought, Everett leapt up from the grass as if jolted by electricity. He whipped out his phone and immediately purchased 11 million square meters of Bellhand Lawn, each blade standing five centimeters tall, and began planting them along both shores of Crescent Bay.

Everett lost track of time as he planted. When he looked up, the sun had set, and when he looked up again, a round moon was already hanging overhead. He tirelessly continued planting into the night, until at last, the entire circumference of Crescent Bay was adorned with the Bellhand Lawn.

Feeling a bit peckish after his work around Crescent Bay, Everett had nothing to eat since Fatty hadn't returned yet, so he cut a piece of the Bellhand Grass and started munching on it.

Sitting on the flat ground by the shore under the moonlight, Everett ate the Bermuda Grass and sipped water from the desert pillar cactus. For some reason, he suddenly felt like a sheep...

Once his hunger was sated, Everett picked up his phone again. He was reluctant to use the one-click planting feature because he wanted to make every penny count.

The planting continued from one in the morning until seven, and due to the desert's latitude, it remained pitch-black even at seven o'clock.

Under the vast expanse of the night sky, Everett's silhouette appeared slightly solitary. Yet, having finished planting the expansive Bellhand Lawn, he felt far from lonely; in fact, his spirits soared with happiness.

"Finally finished!"

It was an incredible achievement that would astonish the world!

Crescent Bay, a scenic area with a nearly twenty-million-dollar investment, was poised to increase in value to over one hundred million, a billion, or even tens of billions!

Imagining the future, Everett felt invigorated and full of life!
