C9 Broadcast to Earn Money
Upon waking, the sun's rays were as glorious as ever. Everett had a delightful dream, but even the sweetest dreams couldn't shield him from the harshness of reality.
"I've got to get them to come on this trip quickly. If they don't show, I won't even be able to finish the beginner's quest!"
Lying on the sand dune, Everett noticed his grass had unexpectedly flourished.
Everett, the farming enthusiast, asked, "Boss Li, have you all purchased your train tickets yet?"
Ding dong!
Marian, the cute little rabbit: Not yet, what's up?
Everett, the farming aficionado, replied, "No worries. The weather forecast predicts no wind for the next two weeks, making it the perfect time to catch the sunrises and sunsets. Once the sandstorms kick up again, we'll have to wait until next year for such views. So, Class Rep Lee, please bring your classmates soon!"
Marian, the adorable bunny: A weather forecast? Can they really predict the desert weather now?
Everett, the green-thumbed farmer, coughed. "It's the forecast from Limesvilles. You don't get it where you are."
Marian, the sweet little rabbit: Okay, how about next weekend? I'll fly over with Xue Yiyi and the rest. By the way, we can only stay for two days. Could you help us with the arrangements?
Everett nearly leaped with joy as he stared at his phone.
"Two days? I'd take five seconds if that's all we had! Cough, though five seconds is an unlucky number..."
But it didn't matter. Once Marian and her group arrived and completed the first mission, he'd unlock the building marketplace!
He dreamed of living in a small villa, constructing various types of houses, and making the Bellhand Scenic Area an undeniable success!
After logging off WeChat, Lu Li glanced at his phone. It was Wednesday, and Marian's group was scheduled to fly over next weekend. If all went as planned, they'd reach the scenic area by Saturday evening.
"No, where will they stay? There's more than a dozen of them. I need to make arrangements."
Lu Li gazed at the megadune. Staying atop the dune wasn't feasible, so they'd have to settle on the small plain at its base. But with no houses on the plain, it looked like tents would be the way to go.
When it came to purchasing tents, they needed to head to Limesvilles. But it wasn't just tents they required; camels were also on the shopping list. After all, these were young ladies – how could they possibly trek through the desert for days on end? Oh no, they only had two days to spare. Just the camel journey to the Bellhand Scenic Area would take more than a full day and night, which meant renting a Humvee was the only viable option.
Renting a vehicle, however, was a source of frustration for Lu Li. That's right, he was broke!
"It looks like I need to figure out the money situation first!"
Everett lay on the grass, inhaling the fresh scent that had begun to waft through the air. The aroma quickly eased his restless mood.
"How can I make money? I need a substantial amount right now..."
Gazing into the clear blue sky, Everett's mind wandered back to his days studying in Hartlepool. Life had been so worry-free then – attending classes, playing games, watching live streams, living day by day.
"Hold on, live streaming! How did that slip my mind? Why not start a live stream? This is the age of live streaming, after all!"
The year was 2023, and the live streaming industry was booming. Audiences craved more than just the usual fare of food, drink, and shopping; they were after thrills. Undoubtedly, broadcasting from the desert would be the ultimate adventure!
Moreover, Everett's phone was charged and had a full signal – it would be wasteful not to capitalize on that.
"Let's do a live stream!"
Without hesitation, Everett positioned himself atop a megadune, pulled out his phone, and navigated to the marketplace, typing in 'live stream'.
The marketplace displayed Shaoland's hottest live streaming apps: Cat's Tooth Live, Fighting Dinosaur Live, and Chili Live.
Everett pondered which app to use.
"All these streaming platforms are strong contenders. Oh, they also offer contracts and vie for popularity. Maybe I should cast a wide net and see which one offers the most money?"
With that thought, Lu Li set up accounts on all three platforms, naming his channel: Everett's Live Stream. He opted for the outdoor streaming category.
After making his selection, Everett decided to go with Cat's Tooth Live. It was early morning, the desert was serene, and the next fortnight promised the desert's most splendid moments. The eastern sky was adorned with a sunrise, casting golden hues across the sands. Beneath the glow of the dawn, the desert's beauty was unparalleled.
The live stream kicked off to a quiet start, with the viewer count at a stark zero. Everett held his phone up to capture the breathtaking dawn, puzzled by the lack of an audience for such a stunning view.
"Can this be right? Why do others get millions of viewers for their outdoor streams, and here I am with practically no one?" he wondered.
Indeed, for a newcomer without any promotional packaging or homepage features, a lack of popularity was to be expected.
"This won't do. I need to find a way to get some publicity," Everett resolved.
With that thought, he kept his own stream running on his phone while he checked out how others were doing it. He stumbled upon a stream by Money Nightingale, a fellow outdoor broadcaster.
Upon entering the stream, Everett was greeted by a world of withered yellows and a fierce sandstorm that seemed to herald the approach of a dust storm.
Money Nightingale, clad in a red and blue outdoor jacket, struggled against the wind, leading a camel across the dunes. He had to fight to speak into his phone, and when he did, a mouthful of sand flew right in.
"Welcome, new friends," Money Nightingale coughed out. "I'm currently on the eastern edge of the Ironwharf, in the Limesvilles Desert. As you can see, the sand here is intense. The storms can lift you right off the ground. I'm risking it all to bring you this live broadcast. Brothers, smash that like button!"
No sooner had he finished than Everett saw a flood of '666' in the chat, and rockets—a symbol of significant donations—started pouring in. Money Nightingale was raking in hundreds of rockets, each worth a hefty sum.
Everett glanced at the stream's viewer count, which had skyrocketed to 100 million. What did that even mean during work hours when everyone was busy?
"Wait a minute, is Money Nightingale actually streaming from the Limesvilles Desert?"
Everett looked up, scanning the clear, calm skies above the Limesvilles Desert. No sign of a sandstorm. And how on earth was there a signal out here in the desert? Did Money Nightingale have some sort of system?
Curious, Everett, a farming enthusiast himself, typed into the chat, "Money Nightingale, where exactly are you in the desert? It's so peaceful where I am. And how do you have a signal out here?"
Embracing the spirit of inquiry, Everett posted a massive message on the bullet screen. It was this very message that quickly set Money Nightingale's live stream abuzz!
