C1 Lets Break up
"Yem, why are you only getting back now? I've waited up all night for you. Look at this, I've managed to earn some money. Since yesterday was your birthday, I figured we could go buy that Apple 20 you've been eyeing!"
Ye Feng's face beamed with joy as he gazed at Yem Ruxue with affection.
Yem Ruxue gave Ye Feng a fleeting look, his expression cold and distant after braving the night's chill.
"Take this, it's my salary for the past three months—seven thousand yuan in total!" Ye Feng said, his face alight with excitement as he pulled a crumpled package from his coat and extended it towards Yem Ruxue.
Reluctantly, Yem Ruxue accepted the newspaper-wrapped bundle. Upon seeing it stuffed with small bills, she flung it into the air with a flick of her wrist.
"Yem, what are you doing?" Ye Feng exclaimed, his heart sinking as the bills scattered in the breeze.
"Hmph, as if you could ever afford the designer bags and shoes I want. And your mother, she's just a bottomless pit of needs..."
Ye Feng felt an unprecedented alienation as he met Yem Ruxue's scornful eyes. A ringing in his ears drowned out her words, and though her lips moved, he heard nothing.
It took a while before Ye Feng snapped back to reality, realizing Yem Ruxue was still watching him.
"What... what did you just say?"
"I said, Ye Feng, let's break up."
"Break up?"
With a pained voice, Ye Feng cried out, "How can you be so cruel? Don't you know? To save up for your gift, I didn't even stay by my mother's side for her surgery! Look at these bruises; I got them working as a sparring partner. I didn't have to push myself so hard, but the pay was good..."
"Enough already," Yem Ruxue cut in sharply. "Isn't it perfect? Now you won't have to work so hard since we're breaking up!"
Ye Feng stood there, dumbfounded, then murmured, "Yem, I... that's not what I meant. We've been together for three years. Can't you reconsider?"
Just as Yem Ruxue was about to speak, a red Porsche screeched to a halt beside her.
Screech!
A man decked out in Armani emerged from the car. He was in his thirties, with slick, shiny hair tied back in a small braid. His white sneakers exuded an ineffable flair.
"Xue'er, I just remembered you left your clothes in my car."
Yem Ruxue blushed at the sight of the red lingerie in the man's hand. "Young Master Hua, you're so naughty..."
Even Ye Feng, who wasn't the quickest on the uptake, could see what was going on. He fixed Yem Ruxue with an angry stare and demanded, "Yem, who is this guy?"
The man gave Ye Feng a once-over, his face twisted with contempt. "Are you the gum on Xue'er's shoe? Beat it, beat it. I'm giving you a serious warning—stay away from Xue'er from now on!"
Ye Feng turned to Yem Ruxue, his voice urgent, "Xue'er, tell me this isn't true! I need to hear it from you!"
"Hmph, what do you want to hear? Look at this—Young Master Hua's birthday gift to me, a sapphire ring worth a fortune! And you? You make me wait half a year just to buy a phone! I've realized that to be happy, a woman needs a good husband. And Young Master Hua? He's the rare gem that's hard to find even with a lantern!"
"Yem! Wake up, he's just toying with you. Do you really think he'd marry you? How could you change like this? Is our three-year relationship worth less to you than this ring?" Ye Feng cried out, his voice tinged with despair.
"Oh, please, what century are we in? How much does love cost per pound?" Yem Ruxue dismissed him with a wave of her hand. "Enough, I'm done talking. I belong to Young Master Hua now. If you have any sense, you won't come looking for me again."
As Yem Ruxue walked away, Ye Feng collapsed to the ground, utterly defeated.
"Gumdrop, seriously, are you freaking impotent or what? Three years and Xue'er is still untouched. Here, consider this your severance pay, haha!"
A red bill fluttered onto Ye Feng's face. Snatching it up, he flung it back in the direction of their departure. "How could you turn out like this?"
The illness of his adoptive mother, Cao Mei, had already cast a shadow over Ye Feng's college life. His girlfriend, Yem Ruxue, was his beacon of hope. In his darkest moments, he clung to the memories of their joyful times together. He never imagined that Yem Ruxue would choose to be with a wealthy man, a revelation that shattered his heart like a devastating bomb.
Ding ling ling.
"Mom, what's up? Are you feeling okay?" Ye Feng managed to keep his voice steady, concealing his turmoil from his mother.
"I'm fine, Feng. If you can, come by—the girls are all here!"
"Girls?" Ye Feng was stunned. He had never known of any sisters. He had always believed he was an orphan, with Cao Mei, his ailing adoptive mother, as his only family.
With his emotions teetering on the edge, Ye Feng walked into his mother's hospital room, lost in thought.
"Mom, how are you feeling?" Ye Feng composed himself before stepping into the room, offering Cao Mei a strained smile as he inquired.
"I'm doing well, dear. Come here, let me introduce you to your eldest sister and your second sister. The other three are on their way and should arrive shortly."
"Five of them?" Ye Feng gazed at Cao Mei, his disbelief evident. Cao Mei responded with a tender nod.
Looking up, Ye Feng saw the woman standing across from his mother. She appeared to be in her thirties, with long, straight black hair and an air of cool aloofness. Dressed in a business suit, she must have left work in a hurry upon receiving the news. Meeting the woman's piercing gaze, Ye Feng uncomfortably scratched his head.
"Hello, I'm your eldest sister, Ye Yimei, currently serving as the CEO of our family's enterprise."
"Eldest sister?" Ye Feng was taken aback, looking at the stunning woman before him. He had never imagined he had other relatives, let alone so many.
"Right, any other questions?" Ye Yimei appeared to have anticipated Ye Feng's reaction. Upon their first meeting, she found herself quite impressed with her younger brother.
"Just yesterday, I watched you share your business management expertise on an interview show. You're the youngest female billionaire on the empire's rankings! I can't believe I'm actually meeting you in person today. Big sister, are you truly my eldest sister?"
Ye Feng, a business administration student, spent his time between work and the library, well-versed in the profiles of emerging young talents. The realization that his idol was none other than his own sister sent a thrill of excitement through him.
"Hehe, give it time, and you might surpass me," she chuckled.
At her words, Ye Feng was struck by a sudden thought, "Big sister, this feels surreal. I've only ever had my mom. How is it that I suddenly have so many sisters?"
"Well, the Ye family has gone through some upheavals, leading us to send the children away. Our father has been rebuilding these past years, tirelessly searching for his lost children. His perseverance has paid off, and at long last, we've found you!"
"So... does that mean we're all part of the Ye family?"
