C15 For the First Time in His Life
Although Ye Feng wasn't accustomed to his new role, he understood that adaptation was inevitable and didn't resist the change. That evening, he settled into the room the Ye family had arranged for him and by the next morning, Ye Feng felt at ease with his identity.
Being a child of the Ye family, it was only natural for him to acclimate to their way of life. He was bound to return to the fold eventually, being their flesh and blood.
Now that Ye Feng was back with the Ye family, it was time for him to get involved with the company's internal affairs. With this in mind, he set out early, only to be intercepted by someone.
"Excuse me, who are you?"
"I'm the one who intended to congratulate you last night, but I got held up with some matters, so I postponed my visit to this morning. I hope I'm not intruding at such an early hour?"
Ye Feng shook his head, indicating no inconvenience, although the unexpected visit did catch him off guard.
"Why the sudden visit this morning if you couldn't make it last night?"
The question came out more bluntly than Ye Feng intended, but, unsure of how else to respond, he let it stand.
At that moment, Ye's mother emerged.
"May I know who I'm speaking with?"
"Ah, hello. You must be the matriarch of the Ye family. I wanted to congratulate Ye Feng on his return last night, but due to some last-minute issues, I could only come by this morning."
"Please, come in. We appreciate you making the effort. Last night's celebration did run late, but I didn't expect you to be so tied up. You must be quite the busy individual."
"Last night was hectic, indeed. Otherwise, I would have been here. I apologize for intruding so early today."
"Not at all. We're grateful you could find the time to visit us amidst your busy schedule."
The visitor nodded in acknowledgment and entered the room, taking a seat on the sofa. The three of them settled into a triangular arrangement.
"Young Master Ye, I heard there were some incidents last night since I couldn't make it?"
"Some things did occur, but they're of no consequence now. Everything has been resolved with the new day."
"It's in the past now, but I do have a few more questions I'd like to ask you."
"Go ahead and ask."
Given that the individual expressed a desire to ask questions, Ye Feng couldn't just turn them away. He allowed them to proceed with their inquiries.
"I understand you're still a student, correct? Suddenly returning to the Ye family, have you felt any discomfort with the change in your status?"
"Not at all. I think it's quite nice, actually. This is my home, after all. I'm simply returning to where I belong."
"That makes sense, it is your home. But considering you were sent away at a young age, aren't there any feelings of discomfort?"
Ye Feng sensed something amiss with the question, just as Ye's mother conveniently stepped into the kitchen to instruct someone to serve tea.
Truth be told, Ye's mother saw this as an opportunity for Ye Feng to grow. Given the current circumstances, she couldn't always be by his side, so it was better for Ye Feng to handle some matters on his own. Besides, he had managed the previous night's events quite well, hadn't he?
"Did you come specifically to ask these questions?"
"My main purpose was to offer my congratulations, but these questions have indeed been on my mind for quite some time. I'm hoping you can provide some clarity."
"Alright, I'll address them one by one. Feel free to ask anything. Regarding your earlier question, I don't feel any discomfort. They are my parents, and I respect their decisions."
"So, you've suddenly come back to the Ye family. Do you think the Ye family members will accept your authority?"
"Why should they submit to my authority? It's about capability. If I prove capable, they will naturally follow my lead."
"You seem to have a clear understanding of the situation. But are you certain you have what it takes?"
"And how can you be so sure that I don't? Nothing has gone wrong yet, so how can you be certain I lack the ability to handle potential issues? You must have heard about last night's incident. Do you see any fault in how I dealt with it?"
Now it was the other person's turn to be at a loss for words.
Indeed, the Wei family's young master had been in the wrong the previous night, and Ye Feng's handling of the situation was faultless. The other person was now unsure of what else to question.
"Since there are no issues, please show the guest out."
Ye Feng escorted the visitor out and informed his mother before heading to the company.
He had intended to visit the company early in the morning, recognizing the need for further training, especially since his father was currently overseeing operations.
"Father, a visitor came by this morning, which is why I'm a bit late."
His father acknowledged with a nod. He was already aware of the visit; Ye's mother would have certainly discussed it with him, knowing full well why Ye Feng had risen early and left the house at dawn.
"Right now, I'm managing the company, but you're destined to take over eventually."
Ye Feng understood this well; his mother had briefed him on these matters earlier.
"I'm aware. I may not be fully capable yet, but I'm committed to learning."
His father gave an approving nod. It was good that Ye Feng was eager to learn, and he had the luxury of time to do so. Being young and still in school was an advantage, and studying Business Administration was directly relevant to the family business.
"I'm assigning you a project to help you develop your skills. It's not overly challenging, but it will require dedication and effort. If you encounter any issues, feel free to consult your elder sister or seek advice from others."
Taking the folder his father handed him, Ye Feng briefly reviewed its contents and nodded in agreement.
"Understood, Father. I'll diligently study the project. Should I have any questions, I'll reach out to my sister or consult with our company colleagues."
"Absolutely. You might even try tackling it on your own first, or draft a plan independently. That way, you'll gain firsthand experience. After you've formulated your plan, bring it to us for review. It's through such experiences that you'll truly grow."
Ye Feng nodded, fully grasping his father's intentions. He had no intention of resisting these opportunities; he knew that his growth was essential to live up to his role within the Ye family.
