C3 Who Is Your Wife?

Ye Feng made a solemn vow to himself: he wouldn't touch those little snacks from the system even if it killed him. The impact of just one tiny pill was more ferocious than a whole pound of broad beans. If he indulged in any more of those treats, he might not live to tell the tale.

Squatting on the toilet, Ye Feng felt utterly weak, his body limp and devoid of strength.

As he purged the waste from his system, he noticed some remarkable changes. His arms seemed bulkier, his legs longer.

He quickly pulled up his pants and dashed to the bathroom mirror.

Holy smokes!

The man staring back at him was a total hunk. Sure, he'd always been good-looking, but in a delicate way. Now, without any major changes to his face, his body had transformed; muscles more defined, a couple of centimeters added to his height, his whole frame exuding strength. His once baggy sweater clung to him like a second skin, highlighting his perfect physique. Ye Feng patted his stomach, wondering if he'd somehow acquired a six-pack.

Lifting his sweater, he was stunned.

Eight? Eight-pack abs? He was a heartthrob in the making. Strutting around school shirtless would surely cause a sensation.

"Master, it's not just the young ladies who'll be impressed, the older ones will appreciate it too! And there's another surprise waiting for you below!" the system teased.

"Below?" Ye Feng glanced down reflexively, but nothing seemed amiss.

"Uh... Master, I meant there are more surprises to come..."

Ye Feng's face darkened at the system's voice. It was outrageously suggestive, but he couldn't help but enjoy it.

"Come on, it was you who let your mind wander..." the system retorted with a snide comment.

Meanwhile, the corridor was abuzz. Zhuqiu's brow furrowed slightly; she seemed to sense that something was up.

"Big sister, I'll go check it out. You all stay here and keep Auntie company. Once I'm finished, we'll all get together," she said.

With her stethoscope draped around her neck, Zhuqiu hurried off.

No sooner had Ye Feng stepped out of the bathroom than he caught Zhuqiu's voice: "I've reviewed Cao Mei's file thoroughly. It's an exceptionally rare condition. I've already filed a request with the hospital, and I'll be taking over her treatment moving forward."

A middle-aged man with frameless glasses fixed a displeased gaze on Ye Zhuqiu. "Dr. Ye, this isn't right. I've been tracking this surgery from the start. The initial treatment showed promise. What's the reason for switching personnel now?"

"Dr. Kwoo, I understand you've been invested in this case for a long time, but this surgery is critical. The patient's health indicators aren't up to par, and the complexity is quite high. My taking over is actually to your benefit," Ye Zhuqiu responded candidly.

Dr. Kwoo bristled, "What are you implying, Dr. Ye? Are you suggesting your medical expertise far exceeds mine?"

Ye Zhuqiu gave a nonchalant shrug. "If that's how you want to interpret it. Let's let the facts speak for themselves. Since my admission to the hospital, I've been error-free. You, Dr. Kwoo, well, I believe your record speaks for itself, doesn't it?"

"You!" Dr. Kwoo's finger quivered as he pointed at Ye Zhuqiu. "Don't think I'm unaware of your little schemes. Are you eyeing the Deputy Director position with this surgery? Do you honestly believe it will secure you the role? Such a fanciful dream!"

"Dr. Kwoo, watch your language. I reserve the right to sue for defamation," Ye Zhuqiu retorted, finding the middle-aged man before her to be quite irrational. He was clearly driven by self-interest, yet he insisted on casting aspersions on others.

"Fine, since we're laying our cards on the table, let me be clear. Ye Zhuqiu, just because the Dean favors you doesn't mean you can do as you please. I won't stand for it."

"Fine, then. We'll see who ends up on that operating table!"

Following the pill's enhancement, Ye Feng's vision had miraculously improved significantly. He could now see even the tiniest marks on the floor with clarity.

As soon as Ye Feng stepped out, he noticed a commotion at the end of the corridor involving the Third Sister. His strength had greatly increased, and in a flash, he was at Ye Zhuqiu's side.

"What's happening?"

Ye Zhuqiu had initially preferred to keep her younger brother out of it, considering it was a hospital internal matter, but meeting Ye Feng's warm gaze, she couldn't help but feel an innate trust welling up within her.

"It goes like this..."

After listening to Ye Zhuqiu's account, Ye Feng turned to Dr. Kwoo and said, "I believe if a patient requests a change of their primary physician, you don't have the authority to deny that request, correct?"

"Yes... Wait, who are you?"

Upon receiving the nurse's report, Director Cao, who had hurried over, bellowed at the crowd, "What's going on here? Do you not realize where you are? All non-essential personnel must clear out!"

Ye Feng gave his sister a reassuring smile. "Don't worry, I've got this."

Ye Zhuqiu looked at him with astonishment. You're taking care of this?

As the nurses scattered, Director Cao swelled with pride. His eyes landed on Ye Feng and he demanded, "And you, why haven't you left?"

"I'm not just anyone; why should I leave? He was just harassing my wife, and I intend to stay and seek justice."

"Wife?" Director Cao glanced around. Aside from the notoriously aloof beauty, Ye Zhuqiu, there were no other women in sight. He asked in bewilderment, "Who's your wife?"

"Her, Ye Zhuqiu." Ye Feng wrapped an arm around Ye Zhuqiu's shoulder. Sensing her resistance, he gently tapped her shoulder with his pinky finger, causing her to relax and lean into his embrace.

Feeling the softness of his Third Sister's body and the gentle curves against his chest, Ye Feng was swept by a wave of contentment, as if a spring breeze had just caressed his heart.

Witnessing their intimate display, Cao Jun was overcome with irritation. He had harbored special feelings for Ye Zhuqiu, never imagining that she would marry so quietly.

"Enough, this is a workplace. Save your romantic exchanges for home," Cao Jun said, his tone sour.

"We're not here to discuss domestic affairs. She will be the one to perform the surgery," Ye Feng insisted.

"On what grounds?" Dr. Kwoo, alarmed by the suggestion, quickly stepped behind Cao Jun. "Director Cao, you must back me up here!"

Cao Jun's cousin, married to the hospital director, wielded considerable influence within the hospital, always getting her way without question. Cao Jun's affection for Ye Zhuqiu was no secret; despite her single-minded dedication to her career and her lack of response to his advances, she had shown no interest in other men, fueling Cao Jun's unrealistic hopes.

Ye Feng's arrival shattered Cao Jun's dreams. Fuming, he blurted out, "Hospitals have rules. You can't just do whatever you please, can you?"

"Fine, then answer me this: doesn't the hospital have a policy of respecting the family's wishes?"

Cao Jun scoffed dismissively, "And what if it does?"

"I'll ask you another question: who has better medical skills, Dr. Kwoo or Zhuqiu?"

Cao Jun's gaze wavered briefly before he replied, "Our hospital does not respond to such queries."

At Ye Feng's prompting, Ye Zhuqiu stepped forward and declared, "Since my arrival at this hospital, I've never once failed. I am 80% confident that this surgery will be a success. As for Dr. Kwoo, I believe his chances of success wouldn't exceed 50%. Dr. Kwoo, wouldn't you agree?"

"Utter nonsense!"
