C4 The Heir of the Ye Family
Dr. Kwoo stiffened his neck in denial, but when he locked eyes with Ye Feng, he deflated like a punctured ball. "So what if you're a bit more confident in your abilities?"
"Director Cao, surely as medical professionals, our top priority is to save lives and aid the injured, right?" Ye Feng stated.
In such a situation, Cao Jun couldn't possibly contradict Ye Feng.
"Fine, as a family member of the patient, I'm requesting a highly skilled doctor. Is there an issue with that?"
"Okay, we'll convene a meeting to discuss this," the hospital agreed.
Ye Feng massaged his forehead, exasperated. "What a hassle!" He stepped closer to Dr. Kwoo, causing Kwoo Fei's plump figure to instinctively retreat. "What... what are you planning to do?"
"Make a decision now!"
Kwoo Fei was taken aback and before he could process the situation, Ye Feng's foot connected with his knee.
Thud!
The impact echoed as Kwoo Fei's bulky frame crumpled to the ground. "Ouch, my leg!"
The sight of Kwoo Fei on his knees caused the nearby nurses to gasp in shock, hands over their mouths. None of them had expected such a fierce side from the dashing young man.
"Director Cao, do we really need a meeting now?" Ye Feng asked, his presence exuding a palpable threat.
Cao Jun felt a chill run through him, his blood turning to ice. He stammered, unable to utter a single word.
Silence enveloped the room.
"Good, I agree that since I'm the only one suited for the task, there's no need for a meeting. I'll take over the patient's care," Ye Feng declared, giving Third Sister a reassuring pat on the shoulder.
The crowd was left in stunned silence.
"…"
"Ding! Congratulations, host, for earning Third Sister's favor and mastering the Secret Acupuncture Technique!"
"Not bad, did you just replicate Third Sister's expertise? This system is beyond cool!"
"Host, remember, I'm called Little Master!"
"…"
Kwoo Fei, still on the ground, was as pale as his lab coat, his eyes seething with resentment. He glared at Ye Feng's retreating figure and hissed, "You little punk, you better watch your back!"
Ye Zhuqiu suddenly realized what was happening and dashed back to the ward.
After resolving the situation with his foster mother, Ye Feng let out a sigh of relief. With classes still on his schedule, he quickly said his goodbyes to his sisters.
In the underground parking lot, Ye Feng made his way to the northwest corner, where a white sedan, well over twenty years old, sat in silence. He had picked up this car from the second-hand market especially for his mother.
Upon opening the door and settling into the driver's seat, Ye Feng noticed the tires seemed significantly deflated. Had he really gained that much weight?
He waited with caution for a couple of minutes, letting the engine's hum settle into a steady rhythm before pulling out of the parking space.
Exiting the underground lot, he was immediately greeted by a red light. A glamorous woman in a sports car next to him whistled at Ye Feng, teasing, "Hey, handsome, why don't you come keep me company? I'll treat you to a luxury car!"
Ye Feng offered an embarrassed smile in return and turned to the car radio for a distraction. A resonant male voice filled the cabin: "Recently, the East Group has teamed up with a mysterious company abroad in a bold move to seize the apparel market. As the city's largest clothing distributor, how will Ye's Group respond? Stay tuned!"
Ye's Group? Was that referring to his eldest sister's company?
Such high-stakes competition was out of Ye Feng's league, but he had a hunch that the battle among these tycoons boiled down to a fight for power and profit. With that thought, he dialed his sister's number.
"Big sister, it's me, Feng. You mentioned earlier that I could join the company anytime I wanted, right?" He chose not to mention the news from the radio; it felt too distant from his own life.
"Yes, that's right. What's up? Made up your mind so soon? Tell me which department you're interested in, and I'll make the arrangements," she replied.
"Well, big sister, I'd like to work in the Sales Department." If he was going to support his sister, he wanted to be right in the thick of things. To Ye Feng, Sales seemed like the front line of the marketplace battles.
"Okay, if you're free, head to the group's headquarters now and ask for my secretary, Susan. I've got a few more things to wrap up here, but I'll be back at the office later."
"Okay, big sis!"
Ye Feng made a quick turn and within less than ten minutes, he was pulling into the Ye's Group parking lot. As he was about to park, the car let out a wheezing "Ha, Ha, Ha" sound, reminiscent of a person with a severe lung condition on the brink of collapse.
The security guard, taken aback by the sight of the clunker, signaled Ye Feng to halt. "Who are you here to see?"
"Susan!"
The guard gave Ye Feng a once-over, his expression one of surprise. Secretaries these days sure had it tough, dealing with all sorts.
"Temporary parking is eight yuan an hour. Damaging public property incurs a fine of ten thousand yuan."
Public property?
Since when was parking a matter of public property?
That's when Ye Feng caught sight of the sign next to him: one car, one barrier.
Ah, now it made sense!
The staff were worried he might just crash through the barrier and make a run for it.
Was that really necessary?
Sigh, it was all this old car's fault. It was definitely time for an upgrade...
Without further delay, Ye Feng headed to the reception desk to state his business. Once the staff verified his visit, they let him through. He rode the elevator up to the seventeenth floor, and upon exiting, he was greeted by an impressive sight: a vast sunroom complete with artificial mountains, lush greenery, and even the soothing sound of flowing water.
The lifestyle of the wealthy was truly something else!
Only someone like big sister could pull off creating such an expansive leisure space in a downtown office building.
As he was about to seek out Susan, a security guard in uniform hurried over. "Hey, what's with the aimless wandering? Do you even know where you are?"
Trailing behind, a portly guard was straightening his uniform and grumbled under his breath, "Can't even take a bathroom break in peace, for crying out loud!"
"I'm here to see Susan," Ye Feng replied firmly.
"You?" The guard sized him up skeptically.
"Secretary Susan is the President's secretary. She's currently in a meeting. You'll have to wait over there," the chubby guard said dismissively.
"My time is valuable as well."
"Ha! Valuable? What's your hourly rate? Ten yuan? Eight?"
"Hey, Old Wang, isn't hauling bricks going for forty an hour now?"
"Do you really think anyone would hire this kid for bricklaying?"
"No... No, sir."
The two security guards bantered back and forth, making Ye Feng's face turn sour. If it weren't for the fact that this was his sister's company, he'd have given these two a piece of his mind for their condescending attitudes.
"Ding!"
At that moment, a striking woman in a white business suit emerged from the elevator, followed by a man decked out in a suit and leather shoes.
The man was fawning over her, which made Ye Feng's stomach turn.
"What's all this commotion?"
It was Ye Feng's older sister, Ye Yimei, who spoke.
"Chairman... Good day, Chairman. I'll get rid of him immediately!"
Security guard Wang was visibly shaken, tripping over his words.
Ye Yimei gave the guard a frosty glance, a slight smirk playing on her lips, then turned her attention to Ye Feng, seemingly eager to see how he'd handle the situation.
"Big sister, we meet again so soon!"
"Big sister?"
The man behind Ye Yimei bristled at the term, "Are you looking for trouble? Who are you calling 'big sister'?"
"Is there another woman here? Or are you cross-dressing?" Ye Feng quipped, arching an eyebrow. The man was ogling his sister like an annoying fly, and it was getting under his skin.
"Security! Where's the security guard? What, did he die? Get this guy out of here!" Wei Zecheng extended his right hand, his fingers delicately pinched together. He loathed being called effeminate or being mistaken for a woman.
Ye Feng's remark had clearly struck a nerve.
All his life, Wei Zecheng had been coddled and adored. Anyone who had ever spoken to him like that had faced severe repercussions!
"Wei Zecheng!" Ye Yimei's brow furrowed as she spoke with a hint of irritation, "This is the Ye family's heir, Ye Feng. I would appreciate it if you chose your words more carefully!"
"Heir?"
