C5 Lin Mu's Foreign World Campus Life

Unlike Itsuka Shido, who had returned to the classroom the previous afternoon with his schoolbag, Lin Mu came back without his. Upon realizing that this was the place the system had assigned as his residence, he quickly freshened up and joined Itsuka Shido, who was already waiting for him at the door, on the walk to school.

...

In the classroom, Lin Mu, having turned to sprawl lazily across the seat behind Itsuka Shido's, lifted his head and asked with a hint of curiosity, "So, what exactly have you been up to, cooped up in your room these past few days?" The memory of Itsuka Shido's grim face paired with that oddly liberating smile from this morning sent a shiver down Lin Mu's spine.

At the question, Itsuka Shido's warm smile instantly stiffened. "... " Itsuka Shido, who had been coerced by his sister into playing a dating sim game, was reluctant to answer. It was simply too exhausting to even think about.

Lin Mu waved off the question, deciding not to press the issue. He was about to speak again when someone entered through the back door and called out for Itsuka Shido.

Itsuka Shido gave Lin Mu a quick glance, and Lin Mu responded with a nonchalant shrug, remaining silent.

As Itsuka Shido departed, Lin Mu turned back to his desk, resting his chin on his arms. He gazed at the mission progress panel before him and sank into contemplation.

Apostle 10086 Sealed Elf: 0

Itsuka Shido Sealed Elf: 1

Elf: Princess (Princess) Favorability with Apostle 10086: 6/100

Elf: Princess (Princess) Favorability with Itsuka Shido: 5/100

'I remember Shido's favorability was at 11 and mine at 10, but now it's down to 6 for me and 5 for Shido. So, favorability isn't fixed... And Shido has already sealed an elf... which means... this mission is incredibly tough!!'

Feeling utterly drained, Lin Mu slumped over his desk, closing his eyes that had regained clarity akin to when he wore contact lenses. He decided to catch some sleep before the lesson began.

After some time, the previously bustling classroom quieted down considerably. Lin Mu, who had grown accustomed to the din while lying on his desk, suddenly found the silence somewhat unsettling.

Lin Mu opened his eyes in bewilderment and looked up, only to be momentarily taken aback. A striking figure with white hair, just like his, had entered the room. Although she was quite beautiful, Lin Mu's surprise wasn't due to her looks, but rather because she was the same mechanized warrior girl he had witnessed in battle with the purple-haired girl the day before. Her name, if he recalled correctly from Itsuka Shido, was... Tobiichi Origami.

The next moment, Lin Mu was startled to see Tobiichi Origami heading straight for him. While he was puzzled, memories of her fierce fight with the elf yesterday made him feel a bit uneasy.

Unexpectedly, Tobiichi merely passed by Lin Mu, leaving behind just a small note.

Relieved, Lin Mu picked up the note and read the Japanese characters that had once been indecipherable to him, but were now clear as day—a testament to the vast powers of the Dimensional Main City.

The message on the note was straightforward:

"Do not speak of what you saw yesterday to anyone."

Lin Mu nodded at Tobiichi to acknowledge he understood, then crumpled the note and tossed it into his desk drawer.

With a sigh, Lin Mu slumped over his desk again, his head throbbing as he pondered how to complete his mission and keep himself alive.

Before long, Itsuka Shido returned with a look of utter disgust. Curious, Lin Mu inquired, "What's wrong?"

Itsuka Shido glanced at Lin Mu, hesitated, then recalling the words of others, he simply shook his head with a sigh.

Lin Mu frowned but remained silent, his head bowed in contemplation.

The teacher soon entered the classroom, marking the beginning of today's morning lessons.

How to cope with Japanese high school courses in an unfamiliar world? Lin Mu, a high school sophomore from China who had conquered the daunting challenge of learning Japanese and survived the rigorous "study till you drop" approach, was unfazed.

After enduring a Mandarin class, Lin Mu lay despondently at his desk.

"Damn! I can't understand a thing..."

Lin Mu paused for a moment, reminding himself that he was here to seal the spirit's power, not to attend school!

Suddenly reinvigorated, Lin Mu spent the morning employing the Celestial Empire students' legendary "Classroom Evasion" technique. Regardless of whether he understood the teacher's lecture, he made sure to maintain eye contact, never showing weakness. He pretended to grasp the material, nodding along especially when the teacher reached an enthusiastic point in the lesson.

This technique, foolproof even among the many experts of the Celestial Empire, was even more effective in Heavenly Palace City where Lin Mu now found himself. Surrounded by the astonished and admiring glances of his classmates and the approving smile from the middle-aged teacher, Lin Mu smirked inwardly. People from another world were just too naive...

"Classmate Lin Mu, you seem quite confident about solving this problem. Why don't you come up and show your classmates how it's done?" suggested the math teacher, beaming at Lin Mu as if he were a prized pupil.

"Huh?" Lin Mu's face petrified, emitting an almost audible crack. Staring at the beaming teacher, he felt utterly screwed.

Lin Mu realized the downside of his divine skill: it worked wonders until you were called upon, and then, whether you actually knew your stuff or not would be immediately obvious.

Despite the admiration from his peers and the teacher, Lin Mu knew the truth—he couldn't make heads or tails of the problem!

As Lin Mu's mouth twitched and he rose unsteadily, he was about to argue that the teacher should spread the love and let everyone brainstorm together—that's what made a good problem, after all. But just then, a small paper ball landed discreetly on his desk as the teacher moved aside, making space for Lin Mu to "strut his stuff" at the blackboard. Surprised, Lin Mu glanced toward the source and saw Tobiichi, her face the picture of serenity, as if she had nothing to do with the note that had just saved him.

Lin Mu swiftly snatched up the crumpled piece of paper. Thanks to his newly acquired Sharingan bloodline limit, his eyesight was impeccable, even though the Sharingan itself hadn't awakened. The elegant, tiny characters forming the solution formulas on the paper were clear as day to him.

With this revelation, Lin Mu's confidence soared. It was as if he were back in the Main City, shoulder to shoulder with his comrades. He nearly blurted out an offer to Tobiichi to treat her to spicy strips after class as a token of his gratitude.

Emboldened by the paper, Lin Mu strode to the podium, confidently took the teacher's place, and picked up the chalk. His writing on the blackboard was fluid and assured.

The teacher watching could barely contain his delight, nodding and smiling, almost tempted to take Lin Mu on as his protege.

Copying directly from the note, Lin Mu filled half the blackboard without hesitation, flawlessly transcribing every word from the paper.

The impeccable logic of his solutions and his steady hand earned him the middle-aged teacher's unabashed applause, soon joined by the entire classroom.

A bit sheepish, Lin Mu scratched his head, his cheeks warming with the attention.

He caught a glimpse of Tobiichi clapping along, her face the picture of serenity. She didn't look at Lin Mu, instead stealing glances at Itsuka Shido beside her, who was beaming with pride at Lin Mu.

Lin Mu's spirits deflated. He couldn't shake the feeling that Tobiichi's assistance was more for Itsuka Shido's sake than his own.

With a resigned sigh, Lin Mu made his way back to his seat.

The morning classes wrapped up quickly, and lunch break was upon them.

Lin Mu noticed that although many students had left the room, most were carrying lunchboxes wrapped in cloth. Those who stayed behind were pulling out their own lunches from their backpacks.

Lin Mu was taken aback. It dawned on him that in Japanese schools, bringing a lunchbox was the norm. Sure, there were cafeterias, but like in his previous schools, that meant spending money!

Lin Mu, at present, appeared to be the epitome of poverty, with not a penny to his name—his pockets as empty as the wind.

Upon grasping the gravity of his predicament, Lin Mu instinctively swallowed hard. His voice quivered as he addressed the system in his thoughts.

"System, don't tell me that after apostles arrive in the dimensional world, they have to earn money themselves?" His implication was clear: if there was money to be had, it should be produced without delay!

Regrettably, the system's response was succinct.

"Ding! You've got it."

Truth be told, Lin Mu was desperate to throw in the towel and get out of there. He yearned to leave, but he was trapped. There was nowhere to flee in this foreign realm; his only option was to fulfill the tasks assigned by the Dimensional Main City.

Seething with frustration, Lin Mu mentally snarled a threat at the system, "You're ruthless!"
