C6 Fishing and Saving People
The morning sun bathed the shores of Jiangnan City around nine o'clock, casting its glow on a row of seaside villas.
Jiangnan City, a coastal gem, was especially known for its beachfront villas, which were highly sought after by the affluent.
From one of the grand sea view homes emerged a young and striking woman.
Her name was Ye Xuerou.
Adorned with a white hat, Ye Xuerou sported a chic white T-shirt, denim shorts, and white sneakers.
Her vibrant, sunny, and alluring figure was showcased splendidly.
In her hand, she held a pure white dog with big, round, sparkling black eyes that oozed cuteness.
The dog, her cherished companion, was aptly named Snowball.
Choosing solitude over security, Ye Xuerou had left her bodyguard behind to enjoy a walk with her dog.
Strolling down the coastal road, she moved at a leisurely pace.
Despite a rough night, Ye Xuerou appeared largely unbothered.
Indeed, a jerk like Zhao Yunfei hardly deserved a second thought from her.
With Snowball in tow, Ye Xuerou continued her unhurried walk along the shoreline.
A few hundred meters on, she noticed a young man sprawled on a rock by the sea. He was capped and seemingly dozing off, a fishing rod at his side.
Ye Xuerou quipped to herself, "Is he here to fish or to nap?"
Just then, the man on the rock removed his hat, revealing his face, and sat up exclaiming with joy, "Finally, a catch!"
Lin Feng swiftly reeled in his line, pulling out a fish weighing over a jin.
He unhooked the fish and tossed it into a bucket nearby.
With a grin, Lin Feng called out to Ye Xuerou, who had paused nearby, "Who says you can't catch some z's while fishing?"
With that, Lin Feng turned his attention back to his rod, casting his line once more into the sea.
He settled back onto the rock, hat over face, shielding himself from the sun's rays.
Watching the scene unfold, Ye Xuerou chuckled to herself, "This guy is quite the character!"
Ye Xuerou didn't linger any longer, continuing her walk with the puppy in tow.
As Ye Xuerou's fading footsteps echoed, Lin Feng, reclining on the reef, gently lifted the hat from his face and sat up. Watching her retreating figure, he mused, "The time is near. Zhao Yunfei will soon make his move against Ye Xuerou." He grabbed his fishing rod, donned his hat, and followed in the direction Ye Xuerou had gone.
The coastal road was serene, with the occasional luxury car gliding to and from the sea view villas. Various trees lined the roadside, sunlight filtering through the leaves and branches where sparrows flitted about.
This peaceful scene lifted Ye Xuerou's spirits. She cheerfully addressed the puppy, "Snowball, say hello to the sparrows in the tree." Snowball, catching the smile in its owner's eyes, seemed to understand and barked a greeting to the tree-dwelling birds. The sparrows, startled by Snowball's enthusiastic salutation, chirped and scattered.
Ye Xuerou laughed joyfully at the sight and playfully scolded her pet, "Oh Snowball, you've scared all the sparrows away. Try to be a bit gentler next time." Snowball, tilting its head, barked a few times in response, as if to argue against the accusation of being anything but gentle.
Approaching a bend in the road, Ye Xuerou, still holding Snowball's leash, caught sight of a man with a hat lurking behind a large tree. Before she could react, the man seized her arm and yanked her behind the tree.
Her throat clutched in the man's grip, Ye Xuerou was pinned against the trunk, rendered unable to cry out or struggle. Feeling helpless, she saw Snowball at her feet and released the leash. The puppy, seeing its owner's distress, turned and dashed away.
As Snowball ran towards her villa, Ye Xuerou silently prayed. She hoped the little dog could fetch the bodyguards from the villa in time to rescue her.
"Who are you, and what do you want?" Despite the grip on her neck, Ye Xuerou managed to emit a faint voice.
"Ye Xuerou, the Ye family has shown no mercy, driving the Zhao family's company to ruin. Now that my grandfather has disowned me from the Zhao family, I intend to make you experience a fate worse than death," the man spoke with a deep, menacing tone.
"You're Zhao Yunfei, aren't you? How did you find me here?" Ye Xuerou recognized Zhao Yunfei's voice instantly, her tone a mix of anger and surprise.
She was shocked because, apart from her own family, she hadn't disclosed the location of her seaside villa to Zhao Yunfei or anyone else.
Zhao Yunfei let out a cold, mocking laugh. "Over a month ago, I covertly placed a tracking device in your Ferrari. I'm well aware of your seaside villa, and I even know about your seaside strolls with your dog."
Ye Xuerou realized why Zhao Yunfei had been hiding behind the roadside tree; he had been tracking her movements all along.
"What exactly do you want, Zhao Yunfei?" Though held captive, Ye Xuerou's demeanor had regained its composure.
Removing his sunglasses with one hand, Zhao Yunfei's piercing eyes locked onto Ye Xuerou as he laid out his demands. "Firstly, I want the Ye family to agree to resume business dealings with the Zhao family, and to sign a long-term cooperation agreement."
"Secondly, transfer five hundred million yuan into my account at Resh Bank as a security deposit for our families' collaboration. Should the Ye family breach the agreement, this sum will serve as compensation."
Zhao Yunfei's demands were strategic; securing a long-term business partnership would pave the way for his return to the family fold. Moreover, the 500 million yuan he wanted in his Resh Bank account wasn't just a security deposit—it was his personal safety net. With that wealth, he could live comfortably even if he remained estranged from his family.
With a composed expression, Ye Xuerou met Zhao Yunfei's gaze and responded, "I can meet your demands, but first, release me so I can call my grandfather."
Zhao Yunfei released his grip from Ye Xuerou's neck and simultaneously drew a dagger from his pocket, aiming it at her. "Call your grandfather, now!" he demanded.
Should Ye Xuerou attempt any deceit, he was determined to make her deeply regret it.
She retrieved her phone and began to dial.
Zhao Yunfei watched her intently as she made the call. Meanwhile, a car passed by on the road just beyond the large tree that concealed them.
The tree obscured their presence, making it difficult for anyone in the passing vehicles to notice the unfolding drama. Nonetheless, as a car zoomed by, Zhao Yunfei couldn't help but glance at the road outside.
Seizing the moment, Ye Xuerou hurled her phone at Zhao Yunfei's face.
Caught off guard despite his readiness, the phone struck him on the left cheek, eliciting a sharp cry of pain.
Taking advantage of the distraction, Ye Xuerou bolted from behind the tree to the safety of the road.
"Think you can run? Not so fast!" Zhao Yunfei, fueled by a mix of pain and fury, pursued her with the dagger clenched in his fist.
Desperately, Ye Xuerou sprinted, but her foot slipped on the sandy ground, sending her tumbling down.
Zhao Yunfei, with a snarl twisting his features, loomed over the fallen Ye Xuerou. "You dare to toy with me? I'll send you straight to hell today!" he bellowed.
Blinded by rage, Zhao Yunfei lunged with the dagger at Ye Xuerou.
Her face contorted in fear, Ye Xuerou screamed for help.
In the nick of time, as Zhao Yunfei's dagger neared its target, a shadow resembling a long pole shot through the air and struck him.
A scream tore from his lips as he was flung away like a kite severed from its string, crashing to the ground several meters away, where he lay motionless.
