C15 Hunter
Wings of Wind!
The young man battling the Gold Devouring Rat was none other than Ye Cann, disciple of the Soul Emperor Yu Tianlang!
Within a mere month, Ye Cann had become the nemesis of all Soul Beasts in the Star Dou Great Forest, particularly in its outskirts.
Ye Cann wielded his Blue Electric Dagger daily, hunting Soul Beasts that had cultivated for a decade, with a particular vendetta against Wind Baboons. Over a hundred Wind Baboons fell to his blade. Yet, among the corpses, Ye Cann found no special external soul bones, unlike those from a ninety-year-old Wind Baboon.

The Twelve Trials of Immortality granted him the self-created soul skill, Wings of Wind. His relentless hunting of Wind Baboons had boosted his speed by a staggering 150%!
This meant that with Wings of Wind, Ye Cann's speed could skyrocket from 1 to an astonishing 2.5.
"The second level of the Twelve Trials of Immortality, the Collector, commences! Please select your absorption target!"
While contemplating how to initiate the Collector phase of the Twelve Trials of Immortality, Ye Cann found himself in the forest's outer ring, courtesy of a Wind Baboon. There, he encountered a Gold Devouring Rat Soul Beast mid-feast, and a battle ensued naturally.
Evading the Gold Devouring Rat's Metal Blade Soul Technique, Ye Cann plunged the Blue Electric Dagger into its abdomen at an odd angle, the blade's latent thunderous power instantly paralyzing the creature. The Gold Devouring Rat collapsed, emitting a mournful wail as its once-gleaming golden teeth dulled.
"What kind of weapon can so effortlessly penetrate the hide of a Gold Devouring Rat?"
A glint of greed flickered in Eryou's eyes. During the recent skirmish, he hadn't detected any Soul Power within Ye Cann's body. There was also no aura of a formidable warrior nearby, indicating that Ye Cann was without any strong protectors at the moment. For Eryou, dispatching an ordinary human child devoid of Soul Power would be a trivial matter.
The dagger that could slay a Gold Devouring Rat without harnessing Soul Power was clearly no mundane artifact.
A yellow Soul Ring with two faint stripes slowly materialized from the body of the Gold Devouring Rat.
Eryou's dog head hammer martial spirit shimmered with a renewed yellow glow as he amplified his First Soul Skill, Dog Head Fury, once more.
"Two-hundred-year-old Soul Beasts detected, all of which are seventh-grade Gold Devouring Rats. Please make your selection!"
"Option 1: Absorb the Soul Ring of the Gold Devouring Rat! Reward: Self-created soul skill, Metal Guard, from the twelve trials of immortality!"
"Option 2: Forgo the Gold Devouring Rat's Soul Ring! Reward: An unknown rare metal!"
Ye Cann performed a rudimentary dissection on the corpse of the Gold Devouring Rat, prying out the two glittering golden teeth from its mouth. Although living in the Star Dou Great Forest meant he had little use for gold, Ye Cann couldn't always rely on the protection of Yu Tianlang. Moreover, in the span of a month, he had mastered Yu Tianlang's legacy and understood the essence of power through his killings.
Since embracing Yu Tianlang's legacy, Ye Cann's life had been a constant cycle of slaughter. He started with ordinary beasts, then ten-year-old Soul Beasts, and eventually ninety-year-old Soul Beasts. Now, even as an ordinary person without an awakened Martial Spirit, Ye Cann was capable of battling century-old Soul Beasts.
The transformation of his physique by the Ancient Saint Body, coupled with the growth imparted by Yu Tianlang's legacy of slaughter, had significantly contributed to Ye Cann's development.
With a blood-stained hand, Ye Cann gently caressed the yellow Soul Ring.
"To absorb a two-hundred-year-old Soul Ring? Ninety percent of the Soul Techniques produced by Gold Devouring Rats are Metal Blades, while nine percent are Metal Guards, coveted by defensive Soul Masters. The remaining one percent might be Metal Absorption Soul Techniques. Since he's chosen to absorb the Gold Devouring Rat's martial spirit, he's likely aiming to acquire the Metal Guard Soul Technique from it."
Eryou analyzed with precision, "A defensive type Soul Master? That doesn't add up! There's no Soul Power fluctuation coming from him at all, which means he can't be a Soul Warrior!"
Before Eryou could finish his thought, a dazzling burst of light exploded from the yellow Soul Ring. Then, a phantom of a Gold Devouring Rat materialized above Ye Cann's head before transforming into a stream of yellow light that surged into Ye Cann's body.
Blinking against the blinding glow, Eryou squinted. Where had the yellow Soul Ring vanished to?
With no trace of Soul Power fluctuation on him, how could he possibly absorb the Soul Ring?
And even if he did absorb it, the speed of absorption was inconceivably fast!
In the annals of Douluo Continent, there was a record of a Soul Master with an Evil Eye White Tiger martial soul who took roughly ten minutes to absorb a hundred-year-old Wind Tiger's Soul Ring.
"Don't you realize that spying on other Soul Masters hunting Soul Beasts in the forest is utterly despicable? Or perhaps, I should see you as an enemy trying to steal this Gold Devouring Rat Soul Beast's corpse from me!"
Among Soul Masters, there was an unspoken code: once inside the Soul Beast Forest, if a Soul Master initiated an attack on a Soul Beast, no other Soul Master could interfere or even spectate. Violators were considered enemies and risked being targeted by other Soul Masters, who wouldn't hesitate to band together and eliminate the offender on sight.
Ye Cann gripped the Blue Electric Dagger with a reverse hold. Ever since he embraced the legacy of Yu Tianlang, he had spent each day in combat, gradually mastering the use of the dagger imbued with the power of the Blue Electric Overlord Dragon.
Eryou emerged from the bushes, his dog head hammer still radiating yellow light, with a choice to make: to kill or to apologize.
Ye Cann's combat prowess had taken Eryou by surprise. Using sheer physical strength, Ye Cann had slain a century-old Soul Beast. Despite wielding a divine weapon, it was evident that a powerful figure was backing him.
In the Star Dou Great Forest, the number of fallen Soul Masters was beyond count.
Should he take his life or offer an apology?
