C5 Netherworld Cat

"What's happening?"

Ye Cann was taken aback. It was rare for any Soul Beast in the outskirts of Star Dou Great Forest to pose a threat to a Wind Baboon, especially one that had lived for ninety years, much less to force it to kneel.

What could it possibly be?

Suddenly, a powerful presence emanated from behind Ye Cann, bringing with it a deadly urgency that made his breath quicken and the hairs on the back of his neck stand on end. The sensation of death was all too familiar to him.

He had faced life-or-death situations numerous times while carrying out missions assigned by his superiors. After each mission, he would spend an extended period recuperating in a hospital bed, and if not for the state-of-the-art medical equipment aiding his recovery, he would have been left disabled long ago.

Having cheated death on multiple occasions, Ye Cann had honed his ability to sense its approach.

Emerging from the underbrush behind him was a purple cat-like Soul Beast, about half a meter in length, with powerful limbs that hinted at its astonishing burst of speed. Four silver-white claws protruded from its front paws.

A purple tail stood erect behind it, and on its forehead was a crescent moon mark.

The Netherworld Cat!

A third-grade Thousand-year Soul Beast!

In the realm of Soul Beasts, Netherworld Cats were considered mid-tier. A juvenile Netherworld Cat could use its abilities to hunt ordinary ten-year Soul Beasts, and upon reaching a century in age, it could hold its own against Soul Beasts of four to five hundred years.

Confronted by this millennium-old Netherworld Cat, the ninety-year-old Wind Baboon had no choice but to kneel and hope it wasn't seen as mere prey by the regal creature. After all, the presence of Soul Masters from the human world was nearby, and their remains were irresistibly alluring to any Soul Beast.

The Netherworld Cat, with its dignified neck, extended its pinkish-purple tongue to lick its sleek black forelegs.

"A Cat Soul Beast! Such sightings are exceedingly rare in Star Dou Great Forest, particularly on its outskirts where only two or three types are known to exist. The Wind Baboon before me is a king among its kind. Could it really be bowing to a century-old Soul Beast?"

Damn it!

Ye Cann muttered a curse under his breath.

All that remained from his novice gift pack was a single Title Douluo Experience Card. But to use the power of a Title Douluo just to hunt down a Thousand-year Soul Beast and a ninety-year Soul Beast seemed like a terrible waste.

Host: Ye Cann

Soul Power: Third Grade

Cultivation Technique: Twelve Trials of Immortality (First Level Unopened)

Bloodline: Ancient Saint Body (Not Activated)

Martial Spirit: Icy Jade Emperor Scorpion (Super Martial Spirit), Spirit Eye White Tiger (Unawakened)

Soul Bone: None

Weapon: Sword of Judgment (Seventh Level Soul Tool), Blue Electric Dagger (Sharp Weapon)

Item: Title Douluo Experience Card *1

As Ye Cann was about to use the Title Douluo Experience Card, the dagger from Yu Tianlang revealed its true form.

Blue Electric Dagger!

In the Douluo Continent, anything bearing the name 'blue electric' was far from ordinary, often linked to the legendary sects. Realizing that his savior was Yu Tianlang, Ye Cann finally grasped the magnitude of whom he had encountered. The name 'Blue Electric Overlord Dragon' slowly crystallized in his mind.

The Blue Lightning Overlord Sect, one of the Shangsan Sect, commanded an unparalleled status on the Douluo Continent.

Ye Cann resolved silently: I must give it my all.

The dagger had failed to pierce the Wind Baboon's hide, likely due to his incorrect handling. Newly awakened to his Icy Jade Emperor Scorpion martial spirit, Ye Cann was clueless about channeling his Soul Power. The divine cultivation technique, Twelve Trials of Immortality, was an exceptionally advanced body-refining method, fundamentally different from Tang San's Mysterious Heaven Method.

Earlier, under the Netherworld Cat's daunting assault, Ye Cann's Soul Power had surged automatically to counter the immense pressure. Even as a mere Third Grade Soul Warrior, his body's instinctive defenses had proved somewhat effective.

Ye Cann planned to first dispatch the ninety-year Wind Baboon before deciding whether to employ the Title Douluo Experience Card against the Netherworld Cat.

He was quite reluctant to use the Title Douluo Experience Card; after all, on the current Douluo Continent, holding a Title Douluo was synonymous with being invincible. Even the two great empires had few Title Douluo, with only the Martial Soul Hall boasting a significant number of them. Encountering other independent Title Douluo would be nearly impossible unless Ye Cann inadvertently trespassed into their domains.

The Title Douluo Experience Card was clear—it was a charm for protection!

Take action!

Make a swift decision!

Ye Cann's right foot stamped forward abruptly, and a creamy white power surged from his right arm into the Blue Electric Dagger. Dark blue sparks danced along the once-rusty blade, the signature lightning force of the Blue Lightning Clan.

The Netherworld Cat's previously graceful demeanor vanished in an instant. The power unleashed from Ye Cann's dagger caused its spine to arch dramatically. Its home was on the fringes of the Star Dou Great Forest, but a roar from the forest's king had compelled all the Soul Beasts from the periphery to patrol the edges. That's how Ye Cann had encountered this millennium-old Netherworld Cat.

The cat's fur bristled, poised to strike and take Ye Cann's life at any moment.

Yet, upon witnessing the blue glow of the dagger, the Netherworld Cat hesitated. It had seen humans wielding such weapons in the forest's outskirts before. The Blue Lightning Overlord Sect's prodigious disciples wouldn't venture into other Soul Beast Forests for their Soul Rings; they were reserved for the beasts within the Star Dou Great Forest, more fitting for the sect's exceptional talents.

A streak of blue lightning, and the dagger plunged deep into the chest of the Wind Baboon. This kill was effortless, unlike the previous assassination attempt. Ye Cann met no resistance, swiftly ending the life of the ninety-year-old Wind Baboon King.

From the carcass of the Wind Baboon, a pristine white, circular entity began to float upwards.

A Soul Ring!

This was the energy amassed within a Soul Beast upon death, ready to be absorbed by a Soul Master to grant them various Soul Beast abilities.

As Ye Cann spun to face the Netherworld Cat, two strangers stepped in, blocking the confrontation. A black coat obscured Ye Cann's view, and behind it, a boy with blue eyes and black hair concealed himself. Entwined in his right palm was a tendril of Bluesilver Grass.

"Who are you?"
