C9 Yu Ke'er Helped Him on the Stage!!
Attached is the complete variety show proposal and process introduction.
Qin Mo glanced at it and immediately knew it was Ling Xuerou who used her connections to secure him a spot. He felt a bit emotional. Despite how coldly he had treated her in the past, she still thought of helping him time and again.
Qin Mo sent a message to Ling Xuerou on WhatsApp. "I'm doing well. The live streams have started generating income, so no need to worry. You don't have to pull strings for me. It's tough to make it big, so take care of yourself."
Qin Mo was more familiar with the entertainment industry tricks than Ling Xuerou. Resources obtained through connections often came with strings attached. He couldn't burden others anymore.
After attending a commercial performance, Ling Xuerou went home. Soaking in the bathtub, she received Qin Mo's message and felt a mix of emotions, mostly surprise. Was this really from someone who had been drinking heavily for seven years? When did he start understanding the nuances of the entertainment industry?
However, since Qin Mo refused her help, there was nothing Ling Xuerou could do. She had secured the spot with Director Sun and couldn't just back out. Ling Xuerou messaged Faang Yaping, asking her to arrange for a third-tier singer from the company to participate in the competition. She tossed her phone aside and submerged herself in the warm water. She and Qin Mo were completely disconnected now. Thinking about it made her heart ache.
Seeing that Ling Xuerou hadn't replied for a while, Qin Mo decided to let it go.
The divorce was her idea, and Qin Mo just hoped she could let go of any guilt. Everyone has the right to pursue happiness and freedom. Living with an alcoholic for six or seven years wasn't easy for her. Qin Mo thought that once he made a name for himself, he could help Ling Xuerou. He could write her some great songs to boost her reputation and repay the debt he owed her. But for now, he needed to focus on his own livelihood.
He went downstairs to enjoy a steaming bowl of beef noodle soup. After checking out the local spots yesterday, he found that this place had the best chef on the street. The noodles were the most al dente, the broth was the most flavorful, and the beef chunks were the largest!
As he ate, he received a friend request on WhatsApp. He glanced at the profile. The name was "Rebel Girl," and the profile picture was a cartoon of a little girl with pink hair, a tiny face, and big eyes, like a doll. Qin Mo recognized "Rebel Girl" as a character from the once wildly popular game League of Legends, known as Jinx. Even top influencers had cosplayed as Jinx, showing how beloved this character was among female gamers. It was clearly Yu Ke'er's style. The message read: "Hey there, it's Yu Ke'er!"
Qin Mo chuckled, set his phone on the table, and continued eating. Soon, a second and third request came through.
Ke'er: Hey mister, let me through, please!
Ke'er: Mister, I finally got your WhatsApp!
Ke'er: Add me, add me, pretty please!
Qin Mo steeled himself and ignored her.
He knew exactly what Ke'er was thinking. As a man in his forties, he was well aware of her intentions. He had no plans to get married, and he certainly wasn't interested in playing games. It was better to be clear and straightforward than to lead the young woman on.
He lowered his head, eating his noodles while pondering the approach for his next roadshow.
...
Ke'er sat in her bedroom, glaring at her phone.
"Stubborn old man, jerk! I've been so forward, and he still ignores me!"
She had sent over a dozen friend requests, but Qin Mo remained unmoved. Despite her frustration, Ke'er wasn't ready to give up. Love often starts with one person's persistence, right?
She had developed a crush and felt she had to give it a shot. She was already following Qin Mo's Conboat and Twitter accounts, keeping up with his updates. She had a plan in mind.
...
The next day.
In the evening, Qin Mo carried his equipment to the underpass beneath the overpass. Located near the shopping district, this spot had more foot traffic than the park but wasn't as crowded as the subway.
Qin Mo set up a sign nearby, arranged his equipment, and logged into his livestream. Clearing his throat into the microphone, he strummed his guitar and began to sing.
It's rush hour, and Qin Mo doesn't have time to waste; he needs to capture everyone's attention right from the start. So, he goes all in and begins singing "Twilight." As soon as the first lyrics echo, people stop in their tracks. Onlookers are drawn to this slightly rugged yet charming man, captivated by his presence and voice.
Many recognize him.
"Hey, isn't this the viral singer from Conboat yesterday?"
"I think his name is Qin something. I saw his song too!"
"Sounds amazing! He's even better live! I thought all Conboat stars relied on filters and sound cards!"
"This live performance is impressive! Last month, I went to three concerts, and they were disappointing. I stopped being a fan after that!"
"These days, stars are nothing without a million-dollar sound engineer. This guy's clearly talented!"
Halfway through the song, a crowd has gathered. Qin Mo finishes the song and then sings a few more hits from yesterday. Gradually, a few dollars are tossed into his guitar case.
Seeing the moment is right, Qin Mo addresses the audience.
"I'm live streaming here and could use some support. If everyone chips in a penny, once we hit a thousand, I'll sing a new song..."
"Just a penny to show some love. Every little bit helps. Strangers, give me a little encouragement!"
Everyone noticed the sign next to him. It displayed QR codes for WhatsApp and another payment app. The text was clear: "Every penny counts, even a one-cent tip is appreciated." Some of the audience, who had seen the live stream and short videos on Conboat yesterday, pulled out their phones to tip.
Qin Mo listened to the constant notifications of one-cent tips with a bit of anxiety. A penny might be small, but the foot traffic from street performances was limited. Most people were just there for the spectacle, not to spend money. Getting them to tip was like pulling teeth.
After five minutes, Qin Mo had only received a few dozen tips. He was a newly popular online singer without a solid fan base. He didn't necessarily need the street performance equipment, but the system task had no option to quit. If he didn’t complete the task, there might be unknown consequences waiting.
Qin Mo frowned, quickly thinking. If he couldn't gather a thousand one-cent tips, he wouldn't be able to sing his new song. A failed street performance would tarnish his reputation! He had a full script ready, but he was a bit too proud to beg for tips. Some streamers succeed because they have no shame!
Clearing his throat, Qin Mo was about to speak when a pink bundle emerged from the crowd, startling him. On closer inspection, it was Yu Ke'er again. The temperature was a bit low today, and Yu Ke'er was dressed in a pink sweater, a white short skirt, and pink boots.
A fluffy pink and white cat-ear hat perched on her head, while her bare legs peeked out from beneath her skirt—slim, straight, and dazzlingly pale. Truly a "beauty that chills to the bone!"
Ke'er, her pretty face half-hidden by a mask, excitedly said, "I'm here to save the day, mister!"
Qin Mo turned off the microphone and whispered, "Don't mess around, I'm live streaming!"
Ke'er lowered her voice too, speaking with a hint of mystery, "I'm not messing around, I'm really here to help you!"
Qin Mo was taken aback. This girl was up to something!
"Don't..." Qin Mo started to protest, but before he could finish, Ke'er had already removed her mask.
She adjusted the microphone stand to the right height, flipped the switch, and held the mic with both hands.
Gasps of surprise echoed around them.
It's Ke'er!
A mega influencer with millions of fans—I need to snap a photo and share it!
She's stunning in person, like a porcelain doll!
