C6 Love Rival

Wang Shichong's cries were harrowing, eliciting pity from anyone who heard them. In the ward, everyone except Chu Chenglong was thrown into disarray, particularly Guo Wei. He had just finished putting away his silver needles, confident that he had cured the old man's illness. What could have gone wrong so suddenly?

"Trouble! Mr. Wang's heart rate is becoming dangerously irregular," exclaimed one of the doctors in white coats.

"Quickly, use the miraculous medical techniques of Chigoris!" another shouted. "Otherwise, Mr. Wang could be in mortal peril!"

Wang Yunuo turned to Guo Wei, her voice filled with urgency, "Guo Wei, what's happening to my grandfather?!"

"I... I'll try again," Guo Wei stammered, a man with some genuine skill, struggling to contain his panic. He laid out the cloth holding the silver needles, preparing to attempt the procedure once more.

But in that moment, Wang Shichong had an epiphany. He gestured decisively toward Chu Chenglong. "Come! Young man! Now, it's your turn to treat me!"

A smirk played on Chu Chenglong's lips. He recognized the old man's intelligence, knowing that only he could save his life.

Wang Yunuo's secretary, however, interjected anxiously, "Mr. Wang, this is unwise! You may consider this young man as your granddaughter's husband, but his youth betrays a lack of experience in such refined medical arts. It would be safer to let Guo Wei try once more!"

The old man fixed a fierce glare on the secretary. "Fool! What are you worth? Silence!"

The secretary stood dumbfounded, unable to believe the old man would rebuke him so harshly over a young upstart.

Undeterred, the old man turned back to Chu Chenglong. "Come! Young man! Today, I entrust my life to you! Should anything happen, you bear no blame. That is my decree!"

Meanwhile, Wang Yunuo was completely overwhelmed. She couldn't fathom why her grandfather placed such trust in Chu Chenglong, nor did she know what to do in such a situation.

She was terrified that one more mistake could mean a permanent separation from her beloved grandfather!

Yet, she couldn't bring herself to defy his wishes.

What was she to do?

In that moment, her gaze fell upon Chu Chenglong, just as he made his move.

His actions were swift; with a single slap to her grandfather's chest, he sent the old man flying.

The force of the slap was tremendous.

"How dare you!"

Wang Yunuo was seething with anger, unable to believe that this scene was unfolding before her very eyes.

Tears quickly filled her eyes.

"Grandfather!"

Wang Yunuo rushed over, taking large strides to support the now unconscious Wang Shichong.

"Your grandfather is alright, don't worry."

Chu Chenglong's calm voice reassured her.

"Get out!"

Wang Yunuo commanded with a fierce tone.

Her grandfather had always said that no matter what happened, Chu Chenglong was not to be held accountable.

She could let Chu Chenglong go for now.

But in the future...

She would undoubtedly seek him out to settle the score.

"Fine, I'll go."

Chu Chenglong didn't linger, turning to leave.

The secretary, previously reprimanded by the elder, sneered, "You think you can just walk away after what you've done to the old man? You can dodge the issue today, but not forever. Enjoy the last days of your life!"

With that, Chu Chenglong departed.

He felt he had fulfilled his master's instructions.

The matter of the marriage engagement, however, was of little concern to him.

"Wuwuwu, Grandfather, please wake up..."

In the hospital room, Wang Yunuo was overcome with sorrow, her face streaked with tears.

Then, suddenly...

"Cough, cough, cough!"

Wang Shichong, who had been unconscious, began to cough violently.

Before long, he expelled a mass of black blood.

Instantly, he felt a relief he hadn't experienced in ages, as if he had returned to the prime of his youth on the battlefield.

"My dear granddaughter, Grandfather is okay. I feel much better now, hehe."

"Where is Young Friend Chenglong? He has cured the chronic ailment that plagued me for years!" Wang Shichong suddenly exclaimed.

Wang Shichong suddenly remembered something from years ago. While battling on the front lines, he had been shot through the chest. But back then, his body was robust, akin to that of a bull, and since he felt no immediate effects, he shrugged it off. Little did he know, this would later develop into a latent illness that nearly claimed his life in his old age. Remarkably, Chu Chenglong's palm strike had healed this hidden ailment. What was even more astonishing was that he could detect the very root of the disease within him—a feat not even the esteemed medical sage Guo Wei could achieve!

"Ah? Grandfather, what exactly happened...?"

"Chu Chenglong has already left..."

Wang Yunuo uttered, somewhat dazed.

"He left? Go after him...!"

"Quickly!"

Wang Yunuo couldn't ignore her grandfather's command and promptly set out to pursue him.

Chu Chenglong hadn't gone far, strolling leisurely down the main road. He hadn't anticipated that Wang Yunuo would personally come after him.

"Why? I've already told you, your grandfather is fine. What do you want with me now?"

Once again, Wang Yunuo confronted Chu Chenglong, her demeanor a stark contrast to before. Yet, the inherent pride she carried was not so easily subdued.

"It seems I've underestimated you. You've piqued my interest. You possess remarkable medical skills, yet I've never heard of you before. Why is that?"

Chu Chenglong dismissed the subject with a wave of his hand, steering the conversation elsewhere. "As for you, I won't impose. If destiny wills it, we shall meet again."

"Oh?"

Wang Yunuo blinked, her curiosity piqued. Chu Chenglong was proving to be quite the enigma.

She offered a smile and ventured, "It looks like you're set on leaving tonight, but it's already the early hours of the morning. Are you sure you wouldn't consider staying the night and setting off after a rest?"

Wang Yunuo wasn't certain she could convince Chu Chenglong to stay, but she was determined to try.

Chu Chenglong had been ready to depart, but Wang Yunuo's suggestion gave him pause, and he began to see the wisdom in her words.

If he were to return to Uncle Chen Jun's house from here, it would probably be daylight by the time he arrived. Moreover, the prospect of sleeping in a damp bed was highly unappealing. He decided it would be best to get himself sorted out at the sanatorium and leave once he was well-rested.

That evening, Wang Yunuo summoned her secretary.

"Did you find out anything?" she inquired.

The secretary nodded, "Yes, but it's quite odd. His life records are completely blank. He only appeared in the Istripgan area a few days ago, taking up residence at the home of Chen Jun, the president of the Prokned Group. It appears he has ties to the daughter of the Prokned Group and is engaged to her as a child bride..."

"Oh?"

A subtle smile played at the corners of Wang Yunuo's mouth as she mused, "So it seems I might have a potential rival in love. Heh."

"The absence of his life records isn't surprising. Grandfather's friends are shrouded in mystery, making it impossible to trace their descendants."

The secretary expressed concern, "Miss, do you really intend to marry him? Given your status and position, it might not be suitable. Please consider this carefully!"

"There's nothing unsuitable about it. His ability to heal my grandfather has already demonstrated his capabilities. I'm confident that given time, he will rise to my social level, or even surpass it!"

"By the way, Miss, are we still planning to attend the banquet hosted by the War God Temple tomorrow?"

"The enigmatic figure who claims to have defeated all the War Gods on the Western War God Ranking? Heh, it doesn't concern me in the slightest. I can't be bothered to attend."

"I'll spend a couple of days with my grandfather at the sanatorium. After that, I'll make my own plans!"
