C10 The Superpower Leveled up

"How's it going? After such a long look, have you discerned anything?" Elder Mo inquired, his voice laced with amusement.

Liu Gaang nodded, feigning an air of expertise as he echoed the findings of his special ability, "This jade pendant from the Liao Dynasty is crafted from superior Hetian jade sourced from Xinjiang, intricately carved by a master using the Nine Palace Knife Technique, and holds significant collectible value."

Realizing the odd shift in the room's atmosphere, Liu Gaang noticed the peculiar stares directed at him.

With a chuckle, Elder Mo slid the items across the table. "Here, Liu, why don't you examine these as well?"

Grasping another piece of jade, Liu Gaang's power swiftly appraised it, simultaneously absorbing the gas within. This jade contained far more gas than the pendant, and once absorbed, the green gas filled nearly a third of the mark.

"This jade piece is also a Liao Dynasty artifact, made from the same high-quality Hetian jade and carved with the Nine Palace Knife Technique, boasting a high collectible value."

"This piece is..."

"This one's a wall plaque..."

"This is a ring..."

...

Liu Gaang continued to handle various jade artifacts, absorbing the gas within and detailing each piece's provenance, material, and carving style.

The mark on his wrist, now brimming with the jade's mist, had almost entirely shifted to green, save for a small patch of gray.

Following the appraisal of the penultimate jade piece, the mist in the mark on Liu Gaang's wrist had fully transitioned to green. Concurrently, a familiar voice announced the upgrade.

"Upgrade successful. The transformation from gray to green mist shifts the trigger from passive to active. Detection data is now controlled by the amount of energy input, allowing the mist to be manipulated at will. Detection can be linear, semicircular, or circular, with a maximum range of one meter for a full circle, two meters for a semicircle, and four meters in a straight line."

Liu Gaang's heart swelled with excitement at the prospect of his power's enhancement. Guided by his intent, the green mist stretched out to envelop the table's final jade piece, this time infused with an even greater quantity of mist.

Indeed, the more mist he supplied, the more comprehensive the superpower appraisal became.

"Liao Dynasty jade bracelet, masterfully sculpted from top-tier Xinjiang Hetian jade by the renowned Wang Songling, once belonging to the Marquis of Pingnan, and of exceedingly high value." The familiar voice echoed, and Liu Gaang repeated the words.

Crack...

After Liu Gaang had finished evaluating all the jade pieces, Elder Mo was utterly astounded, particularly by the final item. Without laying a finger on it, Liu Gaang discerned with sheer eyesight that it was a relic of the Marquis of Pingnan from the Liao Dynasty. Elder Mo felt his own expertise paled in comparison.

Elder Mo was taken aback. He had pegged Liu Gaang's skill as mediocre at best, perhaps passable for an average connoisseur on Antique Street, but today's display had completely blindsided him.

So much so that the teacup he was holding crashed to the floor.

"Brother..." Lee Wei was agape, at a loss for words, and could only respond by giving two enthusiastic thumbs up to Liu Gaang.

Incredible, his assessment was spot-on with Elder Mo and Elder Lin's.

Lin Qingyu, the lead appraiser from Purple Cloud Pavilion, was equally shocked, while Lei Tai and Guo Yong, who were debating whether to take Guo Yong upstairs, were nearly left jaw-dropped.

Could this young man be a novice? His evaluations matched those of Elder Mo and Elder Lin exactly. Was he a dark horse in disguise?

With this thought, Lei Tai's attention drifted to the piece of calligraphy on the table.

"My boy, I had no idea you were such an adept hiding in plain sight! Now, I'm quite eager to see what else you've brought," Elder Mo said, chuckling.

"Elder Mo, to tell you the truth, I was indeed a beginner. I picked up these insights from some antique books I bought just yesterday," Liu Gaang confessed, a touch sheepishly.

He knew better than to reveal anything about his supernatural ability.

Elder Mo shot Liu Gaang a skeptical look, clearly doubting his story. If mere book learning could elevate someone to this level of expertise, then true experts would be dime a dozen.

"Elder Mo, I assure you, I'm as green as they come," Liu Gaang insisted, somewhat defensively.

"Enough with the modesty, young man. Let's not keep us waiting. Show us what you've brought!" Elder Mo urged.

Prompted by the request, Liu Gaang respectfully presented the calligraphy, "Elder Mo, please, have a look."

Elder Mo unfurled the scroll to reveal a set of calligraphy. At first glance, the only words that came to his mind were "utterly crude." Though his expertise lay in jade, Elder Mo was no stranger to the works of famous calligraphers, and this piece before him was lifeless, certainly not the work of a master.

"Liu, surely you didn't bring this calligraphy book just to impress us, did you?" Elder Mo said, eyeing Liu Gaang with a mix of disbelief and disappointment. He passed the scroll to Lin Qingyu, "Elder Lin, please have a look."

Lin Qingyu accepted the scroll, and with just one look, his expression turned to stone, his brows knitting together as he regarded Liu Gaang with incredulity.

Could this young man truly be as commendable as Elder Mo had suggested?

Why on earth would he present something like this?

With a wry smile, Liu Gaang responded, "Elder Mo, Elder Lin, there's indeed a significant issue with this piece..."
